Drumles - Djembe - Tailor-made percussion for young and old 🥁

Drumles - Djembe - Tailor-made percussion for young and old 🥁

hey! Drum Roy here. I would like to introduce myself I like to share my passion for percussion to anyone who also has the itch to get started with percussion. Percussion is a collective name for musical instruments such as a drum set, xylophone, marimba, vibraphone, timpani, glockenspiel... But also percussion instruments such as bongos, congas, triangle, cowbell, woodblock, cymbals, tambourine, bass drum, snare drum... You play percussion with a lot of feeling and a striking technique. At a young age I started taking music lessons at the Art Academy. After a first year of solfège I got the itch to take percussion. I was immediately taken aback! Ke Boom Tsss! 😀 After completing primary and secondary education at the Art Academy, I took private drum lessons to specialize even more. Besides percussion, I also play guitar and piano. Do you also feel itchy? Please don't hesitate to contact me. 👉 Tailor-made drum lessons for young and old 👈 There is no age limit for learning an instrument. Young or old, anyone who is eager to learn an instrument will also be able to do it. If you have knowledge of solfège or of another instrument, this is included. But that is certainly not a must. You don't need any knowledge of music to learn drums. Just a lot of sense and passion! Are you a novice? Then we start the lessons at your pace. You indicate which songs you like to hear and which you want to play. We build that together by starting with the basic techniques, a bit of theory, rhythm exercises and then moving on to grooves and fils. From the first lesson you can already play simple music tracks. Do you already have some drumming experience? Then together we look at where there is still progress and where you want to go. Do you prefer funk or blues music or another genre? We adapt the lessons to your wishes. Do you feel itchy? Then don't hesitate and start with drum lessons. 👉 Djembe is a real emotional instrument 👈 Djembe is a really cool instrument that you play with a lot of feeling. There are many sounds in there to discover. When you play djembe in a band, it gives a certain groove to the song. You add something extra and help determine the rhythm of the song. Cool African rhythms or something funky? Then everything is possible. I teach you how to play this instrument, with the right hand techniques, where the sounds are and how you are an extra dimension for the band. Do you want to learn djembe? Then don't hesitate and contact me. Together we will create a plan tailored to your needs. 👉 Percussion is rhythm 👈 If you have a sense of rhythm, then percussion is definitely for you. But even if you think you don't have a sense of rhythm, I can make sure, by using certain techniques, that you can still keep your beat. During an art and creative camp I give percussion workshops to young people aged 8 to 12 years. The aim is to introduce the young people to rhythmic instruments. I teach them to listen to a song to find out where the percussion instruments are. I teach them percussion techniques and how they conjure the sounds out of an instrument. But the most important thing is of course that the young people have fun playing a djembe, cymbal, boomwhackers, drum, cajon, ... Percussion is the collective name for all percussion instruments in a band or orchestra. These instruments are mainly accompaniment instruments. It gives rhythm to the song. Do you also feel itchy? Then don't hesitate to contact me. Regards, Roy

From Your First Beat to Your First Song – Let's Make You a Drummer!

From Your First Beat to Your First Song – Let's Make You a Drummer!

About My Drum Lessons I am a self-taught drummer and performing musician who believes that learning an instrument should be a gradual, practical and enjoyable process. My approach to teaching comes from my own journey of exploring drumming, developing techniques, understanding rhythm and learning through consistent practice. My lessons are designed for beginners and developing drummers who want to build a strong foundation and eventually become independent musicians. What I cover in my lessons: - Drum Fundamentals: Understanding the drum kit, posture, grip, basic coordination and playing techniques. - Rudiments & Stick Control: Single strokes, double strokes, paradiddles, accents, dynamics and other essential rudiments. - Hand & Foot Techniques: Developing hand speed, control, bass drum technique, hi-hat control and foot independence. - Coordination & Independence: Building hand-foot combinations, limb independence and control over different rhythmic patterns. - Grooves & Rhythms: Learning essential rock, pop, funk and other contemporary grooves, along with variations and fills. - Timing & Musicality: Developing a strong sense of timing, metronome practice, rhythmic accuracy, dynamics and playing along with music. - Song Learning: Understanding drum parts, breaking down songs and applying techniques to real musical arrangements. - Recording & Basic Drum Production: Once you are comfortable playing the instrument, we can explore recording drums, microphone basics, MIDI drums, drum programming and an introduction to recording software. My Teaching Approach Having learned much of the instrument through self-study, experimentation, listening and practice, I understand that every drummer has a different learning curve. I aim to break down techniques into manageable steps, explain not just how something is played but why it works, and help students develop their own understanding of the instrument. Rather than rushing through exercises, I focus on building a solid foundation, developing consistency and gradually applying what you learn to actual music. Whether you are picking up drumsticks for the first time or already know a few grooves and want to improve your technique, the lessons will be structured around your current level, musical interests and learning pace. The ultimate goal is to help you become comfortable behind the kit, understand the instrument and enjoy making music independently.

“ José has a clear plan of what to teach, and adapts to the student. Good tempo of new information. Emphasizes ergonomic playing, thus avoiding injuries and unblocking you to play faster in good time. (Spoiler: it's about releasing every unnecesary tension you hold). Pleasant learning environment (including a beautiful view over Ghent, and with Juanita the kitten). Knows his stuff (percussion, but also music more general). Gives you exercises for at home, which you first practice together in class, and then he writes them down for you in clear notation. ”

“ I've been taking cajon lessons with Valentin for a year now. There aren't many cajon teachers, but luckily Valentin is a really good one. The lessons are fun and efficient. He's also very flexible about lesson times. I hope he continues teaching for a long time, because he's becoming a bit too successful as a drummer :) ”

“ Paul is knowledgeable and skilled in many types of drumming. He is very adaptable to skill levels. His suggestions helped my drumming improve significantly from the very first lesson! ”
