My curriculum is comprehensive and progressive. My teaching method focuses primarily on good sight-reading, combined with refined piano technique. I also address learning difficulties such as postural problems, tension, and faulty touch. My piano technique is based on the Enrique Granados school and his specific touch-based method, emphasizing sound and proper pedal use. We will work on three basic sections: technique exercises, studies, and works from all styles (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, etc.). We will also cover music theory (theory + daily exercises from the ABSRM method), solfège, choral singing, written ear training, score analysis, and concert listening exercises. In addition to my in-person lessons, my online classes feature high-quality audio and video specifically designed for musicians: via the Zoom video call app (with settings that typically offer better sound for piano), and using OBS production software so you can clearly see the keyboard and hands from different angles. My courses are based on the Irish teaching method so first of all to the ear, on the resources that the student has in himself and on the fact that one learns while having fun. As i am just about to start harp lessons, we had a first ''lesson' in which Mélanie advised me extensively about the types of harps that I should consider getting/renting,and explained her pedagogy and the type of music she specializes in, which is exactly what I would like to take up. She explained some aspects of the repertoire (such as the fact that for older music we often have only a melody line surviving, so the accompaniment involves improvisation). She is extremely friendly and helpful, organized and clearly at home with teaching online, which she had been doing in part before the lockdown. I look forward to having the first 'real' lesson once I have a harp to play on.
