Trusted teacher: Welcome to my piano teaching studio! I am a professional pianist offering private piano and theory lessons for students of all levels. As a pianist with over 14 years of teaching experience in Europe and the USA, as well as over 23 years of playing/performing, I enjoy motivating my students with music of their own preferred style and interest, whether that be classical or contemporary. My main goal is to promote a positive experience and love for music-making during the learning process. If the student is interested in a more structured approach, I guide preparation for grades 1-8 of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) piano and music theory exams where my students consistently receive highest marks. I also have successful experience preparing students for conservatory entrance auditions, masterclasses, and competitions in the Europe, the USA, India, and Canada. We have class concerts at Pianos Maene for interested students twice per year. I am happy to provide either a more relaxed or a serious approach to learning piano, we simply need to discuss the personal goals and preferences of each student. My own studies are as follows: I have obtained two postgraduate performance degrees at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp: "Concertsoloist" in Piano Performance and "Chamber Music” (under the guidance of esteemed professor Sergei Edelmann). Prior to this, I received my Bachelor and Masters degrees in Piano Performance/Music from the University of Minnesota - Minneapolis (with Prof. Lydia Artymiw) and Texas Christian University, Fort Worth (with Dr. Tamas Ungar). My experience includes collaboration with many different instrumentalists and singers, performing as a soloist and collaborative member in several orchestras, and receiving top prizes in several competitions. While maintaining my performance and recording career in Belgium at present, I am developing my private music studio in central Antwerp and look forward to meeting new students.

Hello there! 🎶 Yes, you, nice human. Maybe you’ve been dreaming of playing the piano for a while now. Perhaps you played a little as a child but stopped somewhere along the way. Or maybe you simply love the sound of the piano and the black and white keys and often think: ‘I wish I could do that’. But then these thoughts appear: ‘I don’t have enough time’ ‘The music school is too far away.’ ‘What if it’s too difficult for me?’ ‘My work schedule doesn’t allow fixed lesson times.’ Here’s the good news: you don’t have to wait any longer.
Now is the right moment to start. The solution? Online piano coaching. As a musician and piano teacher, I understand these struggles very well. I personally had a hard time with the rigid structure of traditional music schools, and for a the longest time I didn’t know how to practise efficiently. How do you make progress without feeling overwhelmed? How do you combine learning music with a busy life? Through years of experience, trial and error, , and a lot of searching, I found my own way, sometimes unconventional, sometimes surprising, but always with a lot of love for music. I now hold a Master’s degree in Music, and I wrote my thesis on stress in professional musicians. This research not only influenced my way of playing, but also my teaching approach. I don’t believe music education should be stressful or intimidating. Instead, it should be supportive, motivating, and adapted to the person behind the instrument-while still actually learning something. What can I offer you? One-to-one piano lessons, just like at a music school — but with so much more freedom. Flexibility that fits your life
You learn from your own home, your own safe space. My agenda is online, and every week you choose a lesson time that works for you. Late-night shifts? No problem. Babysitter cancelled? We adapt. You stay relaxed. Personal guidance and ongoing feedback
Between lessons, you can send me recordings of your playing. If you get stuck, you don’t have to wait a whole week to ask questions. You receive support exactly when you need it. Learn independently, at your own pace
Prefer a more self-guided approach? I also offer a beginner video course, where you learn step by step. Taught by a real teacher — not a computer — with the option of personal guidance whenever you need it. Relaxation, breathing & mindfulness in music What makes my lessons special is the attention to relaxation and mental well-being. Music is not only physical; it is extremely connected to the mind and the breath. That’s why I incorporate elements of meditation, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques into my teaching. Especially when preparing for a performance or a stressful moment, these tools can make a huge difference. For example: before a concert, nerves often show up as shallow breathing, tension, or racing thoughts. I teach simple breathing exercises that help you calm your nervous system, focus your attention, and return to the music instead of the fear. By integrating relaxation and mindfulness into your piano practice, you don’t just improve your technique — you build confidence, focus, and a healthier relationship with music-and yourself . Why choose my lessons? Because I combine: professional musical training ( I’m not only a pianist, also a bassoonist traveling with orchestra ) personal experience with performance stress (Yes, I was stressed too!) a flexible, modern teaching approach and a deep belief that learning music should feel supportive and joyful My goal for you is progress, confidence, and enjoyment. Ready to begin your musical journey?
Together we’ll explore your goals and find a way of learning piano that truly fits your life. I look forward to meeting you and making music together. Available in English, Dutch and French.

Trusted teacher: < Learning Piano is not merely about playing the piano > Before starting to learn the piano, it’s essential to recognize that : '' What we are actually learning is "Music", but not only "Piano". '' The goal of learning any instrument is to acquire the language of music, enabling us to express ourselves and enjoy music with others. Playing the piano is for creating beautiful sounds, not really for developing finger speed or strength. That’s the function of gym. < Music is like cooking > When we cook, to make roast beef tender, of course, it’s nice to have a tender heart, but without knowing how to control the temperature, the roast beef won’t become tender merely by our tender heart. By only adding salt, the dish won’t be sweet. Similarly, simply playing or writing a C major triad chord won’t convey a sorrowful feeling. To create the feeling we want, no matter how much sentiment we have in our hearts, to convey it via music, it needs to be translated into the language which the piano can understand, which means, how we press and lift the keys and pedals. Similarly, when we compose, it needs to be transferred into chords, and notes we write. < Difference between an audience and a musician > There is a common belief that a musician can make music with sentiment or feeling. While it’s partially true, the most essential thing is knowing ‘’How’’ to create the sound that conveys the feeling we want, rather than merely knowing ‘’What’' feeling we want to convey. The understanding of the mechanism behind music is essential, as cooking, and that is the difference between an audience and a musician. As an audience, one can simply feel the music. Like a chief who knows how to create a specific flavor to convey, a musician knows how to create the sound which can convey the feeling we want. While knowing which feeling we want is great, it’s merely the first step. Your emotions are not too different from Chopin, Beethoven, Adele or Taylor Swift, otherwise, they can’t resonate with you. But they know how to create the sound that conveys the feeling they want to their audience. < Course Content > I consider my course to be a form of "Music Consultation" because it contains a wide range of subjects that are essential to a professional musician. While we focus on piano playing, there are also music theory, music history, instrument construction, ergonomics for performers, analysis of composer styles, composition, arrangement, recording, MIDI, computer music, the physics of sound, and more. In avoid of confusion, let’s still call my course as "Piano Course”. < Duration > For each course, I will reserve at least 70 minutes in my schedule for you, including 60 minutes of class time and an additional 10 minutes for discussion and any questions you may have. This will ensure that your courses are not rushed by the next student. This ensures that there is enough time for you to solve your piano and music problems. < Recording > I highly encourage my students to record their progress. This can provide an objective standard for comparison and help you analyze your playing precisely. In my nine years of experience teaching music, I've found many students, including those advanced, already play certain sections very well, while other sections may not be not well enough. But they still try to improving those fine sections, while not aware of those weak sections. Without an objective reference, it’s hard to distribute our effort precisely. This can lead to not only unstable performance, but also practicing without a precise goal can easily reduce enthusiasm. Recording your results and comparing them with those recordings you like on YouTube or Spotify can be an effective way to analyze your playing and set precise goals. If you have a digital piano, I can help you produce a video of your performance for each session. This can be a tangible record of your efforts and you can share it with your friends and family via YouTube or other platforms.

I graduated from the Palermo Conservatory with Professor Dorotea Cei, student of Lazar Berman, Clive Britton (student of Claudio Arrau) and Roberto Caglieri (student of Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli). In addition to a Master's degree in musical psychology in Romania, I also obtained a Master's degree in Advanced Music Performance at the ESMUC in Barcelona with Professor Vladislav Bronevetzky (student of Elisso Virsaladze). I have participated in several Masterclasses, including an annual course with Professor Roberto Plano and thanks to which I was able to acquire valuable teaching experience. Experiences that proved useful for teaching as a piano teacher in Bachelor and Master courses were at the Conservatory of Trapani “A. Scontrino”, at the Conservatory of Ferrara “G. Frescobaldi”, at the Sassari Conservatory “L. Canepa” and at the Palermo Conservatory “A. Scarlatti”. During the lessons I attach great importance to artistic interpretation, emotional and psychological management during the study phase, before and during a performance, precision and respect for the score and the efficiency of the technique applied to the style and historical period. I guide students by providing effective and optimizing study and learning strategies, also correcting factors such as posture and the correct use of the body at the piano and on the piano, the physiology of the hand and other factors such as economy of movement. All of these are factors that I have acquired from the great Russian schools from which I come directly and indirectly, with a very empathetic and organizational side I am able to give very satisfactory results to my students. I recently collaborated as global professor of the Piania Conservatory in South Korea (Seoul) with currently virtual masterclasses and seminars and piano competitions. I recently held masterclasses at the Edward Said Conservatory of Ramallah in Palestine at the college of arts and the Philharmonic theater of Targu Mures in Romania, at the University of Music of Skopje and Sarajevo, at the University of Music in Kaunas (Lithuania) for various Italian associations including the Umbria Classica Association. I am often designated as commissioner in some piano competitions such as, for example, the International Henryk Mercel Piano Competition in Poznan organized by the Polish Calisia Art Foundation, the Malta International Piano Competition and others.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Wonderful Piano Teacher! We’ve been so lucky to find Loreine on Apprentus! She teaches via Zoom, but the experience feels just as personal and engaging as in-person lessons. Her teaching style is incredibly thoughtful — each lesson is well-structured and tailored to the student’s pace and personality. She explains everything clearly, with patience and professionalism, and always brings a calm, positive energy to every session. What stands out most is how nurturing and encouraging she is. My child feels supported and motivated, and her enthusiasm — never overwhelming — is truly contagious. She builds each lesson on the student's progress, reinforcing skills in a way that sets them up for success. Since starting lessons, my child has not only improved musically, but has also begun practicing regularly without being reminded — something I never expected! She genuinely looks forward to each lesson, which says everything. I highly recommend Loreine to anyone looking for a kind, professional, and effective piano teacher!

Not just a singing teacher, but by the way also the best vocal coach you can get hold of at this moment and in this area of the Netherlands (so take your chance...;-)). For about 3 years I had a serious problem with my vocal chords (incomplete closure) and a dislocated larynx. I started to be in contact with Stefano by chance asking him to show me some (singing) exercises additionally to my treatment at the ENT-department of Martini Ziekenhuis Groningen as well as an ongoing therapy at a professional trained speech therapist. To cut a long story short: Within a couple of lessons and dedicated exercises he succeeded in re-positioning my larynx and got rid of my incomplete vocal cords closure, meanwhile the medical specialists had decided that the only cure could possibly be an operation... As a ‘side-effect’ I am now able to sing and control my voice like I have never been able before and could never have imagined that this was possible to achieve by just some simple but individually chosen exercises and practice. Grazie!

I had my first lesson today and I was immediately struck with the feeling that I am in the presence of a maestro in Piano playing, a professor in teaching and an extremely patient pedagogue. It was like Lydia knew me for years and instantaneously detected my strengths and my weaknesses in my piano playing and practice. I am an adult student and I highly recommend Lydia for all ages and all levels. An exceptional teacher that provides and exceptional lesson experience.
