The course is designed primarily to enable you, gradually, to translate Hebrew biblical texts (the Hebrew Bible for Jews, the Old Testament for Christians) and access their original text. You will also learn to read and write this ancient language.
Biblical Hebrew is not an Indo-European language (like the Latin languages or Greek, for example) and follows its own organizational (or linguistic) logic, which must be understood step by step. Historical and cultural elements may be addressed in dedicated sessions as needed.

Finally, for the most advanced students or those already possessing a basic knowledge of biblical Hebrew, I offer an introduction to Aramaic and Syriac, sister languages of Hebrew, also present in some biblical writings.
