Trusted teacher: I am trained in classical hatha yoga, specifically Sivananda yoga. It is a varied class consisting of breathing exercises (pranayama), active yoga postures (asanas) interspersed with relaxation (savasana). The yoga style was developed by Swami Sivananda. He had a background as a doctor, with this knowledge he has developed a series of exercises that are optimal for your entire health. The asana poses are aimed at promoting the functioning of your organs and the alternation of exertion and relaxation promotes the balance of your autonomic nervous system. By regularly practicing Sivananda yoga you will feel fitter and you will notice that you can find more relaxation in your life. My lesson will look like this: I start the class with some breathing exercises. Then follow the warming up exercises (including the sun salutation) to warm up the body for the asanas. This is followed by a series of asanas interspersed with relaxing poses. This series will be roughly the same for each lesson, with a slight variation in exercises. The more often you do the same exercises, the more you can feel the benefits of the exercise and the deeper you can get into the poses. The exercises also become more meditative the more often you do them and you can find more peace in the postures. The lesson ends with a final relaxation. In my private lesson I have special attention for you and I can adapt my lesson to your needs. If you have injuries or other things that limit you in practicing yoga, I will gladly adapt the exercises to you so that you can get the most out of your private lesson. In my lesson, the emphasis is also on finding peace and acceptance in yourself, so that you can really come to yourself during the lesson. If you have any questions about the class, send me a message!

Trusted teacher: A full course of one hour (60 min) with the possibility of reserving for a longer duration (90 min). My classes are mainly oriented on the connection with the breath, the anchoring and the deep muscular work. The lessons are adapted according to the level of the students, and I offer several variations: Hatha Yoga: general category which encompasses most of the styles practiced. "Hatha" means "perseverance", "effort" or even "determination". To be determined to achieve liberation within a certain period. This discipline is in relation with "prana", the vital force and its two components: masculine energies, considered as solar and active + feminine energies considered as lunar and passive. From there was born another interpretation according to which "Ha" & "Tha" would mean the sun and the moon united and balanced through the practice of Hatha yoga. The soul being the sun, constant and stable in its brilliance and luminosity, the spirit being the moon, constantly fluctuating and changing like the phases of the moon. The basic principle of Hatha yoga being to unite and harmonize the opposing energies of the body; the mind and its reactions. We unite the body and the spirit to unite the spirit with the universe. A Hatha yoga class consists of physical postures and breathing exercises. The postures are performed slower and last for a few breaths (30 seconds to a few minutes) to promote anchorage and stability. A real in-depth muscular work. Vinyasa Yoga: the Sanskrit term Vinyasa is derived from 2 roots "Nyasa" which means "to place" and "Vi" which can be translated as "in a specific way". Each movement is linked to rhythm and consciously placed to create a dynamic flow. It is a more rhythmic and powerful yoga which allows to link the postures in a harmonious way with transitions commonly called "vinyasa" and used in particular during the sun salutations. Here we retain the postures in a shorter time than during a Hatha yoga session, but we are still aware of our movements and our alignment. Gentle yoga: for people looking for relaxation, a stretching work inspired by Yin Yoga to release muscle tension and settle into letting go. I invite you to discover Yoga with Hope Arts Studio or to deepen your knowledge if you are already practicing. Meditation: work on the chakras; the 7 main energy centers of the body, often represented by 7 specific colors. During this session, we will focus on a particular chakra to balance and / or unblock it through breathing techniques and guided meditation. We will also explore mindfulness meditation, bringing the moment to the present moment, reconnecting to your “inner self” consciously and without judgment, examining thoughts and emotions. This practice is beneficial for relieving tension and everyday stress. Possibility of private or semi-private lessons in the studio, at home or online. I teach in French and English.

Trusted teacher: I’m a self-employed yoga teacher freshly installed in London. I teach vinyasa yoga as slow or fast paced as you need, with a strong focus on intertwining the rich yoga philosophy with the physical practice. I trained as a Vinyasa Yoga Teacher in San Francisco at Laughing Lotus (now renamed Lotusland Yoga) with Jasmine Tarkeshi and Brima Jah. This teacher training was life changing for me, and as I soaked in Jasmine & Brima’s knowledge, kindness and values, I strengthened my own yoga practice and developed my own way of sharing yoga with others. My approach to teaching can be summarized in three major commitments: - honouring yoga’s roots: I use both sanskrit and english names for asanas, I’m passionate about yoga mythology and love sharing the stories behind my favorite shapes - offering teachings that represent the whole yoga philosophy: yoga is so much more than a workout, my classes always have an intention to them, they tend to be focused on one or two of the chakras and include at least another of the eight limbs (pranayama, one of the yamas or niyamas, meditation…) - making my classes accessible to various communities and identities: yoga is for all! I offer many options in every asana to make them accessible to all bodies, I always encourage practitioners to rest as needed and follow their own pace, and I avoid using gendered cues that are inherently exclusive. I’ve lived in many places and I've worked as a medical imaging software engineer for six years. A year ago, I quit my job and spent a sabbatical year with my partner, traveling Europe in our van. This year-long journey taught me so much and reinforced my confidence that I want yoga to be a major part of my life (both professional and personal). So as we settle into our new home in London, I’m taking this opportunity to focus on my career as a yoga teacher.

Thank you 🙏 A very patient and understanding teacher. Studied my capabilities, or should I say lack of them, and planned from there. A great introduction to yoga. I shall continue to practice the Shavasana 😃. That’s the one pose I can manage without too much difficulty 🥺. I look forward to the next lesson.
