    About Me

    Hi,

I'm Karen! I'm a professional musician and I was very busy gigging right up until lockdown! I now have a lot more free time, so I would like to take on some online students. I have over 10 years of teaching experience and have worked for various music services around London and the South East. I have had some wonderful students over the years, some of whom have gone on to study music in college and pursue a music career. I am completely new to online teaching, but I am looking forward to taking on this new challenge and working with Apprentus.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.

    Bastien
Classical-contemporary saxophone (Included: approach to improvisation, harmonic understanding and basic music theory)
Student at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. From practical lessons to theoretical notions, I know how to adapt to the student and his interests to provide a course that really brings him the elements that will allow him to quickly flourish in the musical field. With already 4 years of course experience in non-profit organizations and in particular, I usually train students of all ages, beginners or more advanced. I am open to a large number of musical styles, current or old, focusing my thought on a "musical whole". I currently specialize in classical and contemporary saxophone but I am also very open to improvisation and live music such as jazz and the styles that derive from it, but also to electronic music. My final goal is to allow the student to express his ideas in music, and that he really evolves and flourishes in what pleases him. I take beginners without any knowledge of music theory. I am available in: * Brussels region. * Region of Tournai occasionally. * Online, via webcam lessons

Professional saxophonist eager to teach and work to bring out the best version of yourself! The lessons are intended for all levels, children or adults. Harp and Music Theory/Solfege lessons, for adults and children.
J'ai hâte de vous rencontrer, Eleonora EN I am an italian harpist currently living and working in Brussels. I graduated (Master of Music in Harp - soloist and orchestra) with first class honours in Italy at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles. Meanwhile, I have been going on with my soloist, orchestral and teaching career, enjoying every aspect of it. I am an enthusiastic teacher and I have more than 10 years experience in teaching harp, solfège, music theory and harmony on many levels, from children to adults. I have been working both as a private teacher and in my hometown's school of music in Italy (Scuola di Musica "Luigi Rachel"). I love to create a positive learning environment allowing the student to feel comfortable and stimulated, whether he/she is a beginner or an advanced musician. Every student has a tailored method of study for progressing at their own pace and I will carefully listen to every request. I pay close attention to the student's preferences, in terms of repertoire and goals, also arranging some musical scores that might not be intended for the harp in the first place. These classes are either intended for amateurs or aspiring professional musicians, young or adult learners. My mother tongue is Italian, but I am also fluent in English and French. I'm looking forward to meeting you, Eleonora

Clarinet and Saxophone classes online to develop your own musicality
In the classes we will address the different elements that make up music in different styles, knowing the particular language of each one. To do this, we will work on the different tools that we have with each instrument at the level at which each one is. We all know music but many times they make us believe that no, that it is necessary to know how to read and write. That is the graphic part of the language that we will learn little by little, music is a compendium of many other things. Some that we already know and others to know. We will study the use of the keys and the positions of the clarinet, or the sax, the best way to position ourselves whether we play standing or sitting, the most efficient way to use the air, the diaphragm, the muscles. We will learn to form a good embouchure and we will develop a study method adapted to each one, according to their tastes, possibilities and interests. I work with boys and girls from different parts of the world as well as with adults and the elderly. In my experience I learned that, truly, the greatest limitation that we find ourselves is the very feeling of not being able, of believing that we cannot. The support of a dedicated teacher is essential to get out of those places where we accidentally enter and that sometimes limit us. We all feel that sometime. It is time for us to remedy it. I will provide my own materials in pdf, video and audio. There is no age limit.

CLARINET - Improvisation - Music Theory - Music Understanding
Would you like to learn one of the instruments which have more style possibilities? Would you like to know why many composers say that is a very powerful instrument because it fits in may situations? Did you know that in the Klezmer history clarinet substituted the violin for projection reasons but also because perfectly able to imitate the human voice, crying or laughing? Would you like to discover the fascinating world of clarinet? One of my priorities as a musician is the sound. I believe that with a beautiful and personal sound you are able at every level to transmit emotion and meaning, it doesn’t matter the difficulty or the level. So I try to focus first on awareness of what’s beautiful for the student and what’s not. Then through technique and repertoire (suggestions of the student or suggestions of mine that can help to grow the student curiosity), we develop the student knowledge. Always helping the student to understand -depending on his/her the theoretical level- what we are doing, putting together music and theory. And giving tools to expand the border, at all levels. I have knowledge and experience in Jazz, Classical, Klezmer, Choro Music and Improvisation. You just need a precious element! • Music Theory I focus on having a good basics, spending as much as we need to understand every single thing, because then with times it becomes more easy. I try to help the student simplifying the material because then, we only with ourselves with a good procedure of the basics to solve any problem. Only with one lesson, you will understand what I mean. I have experience in preparing students for exams, the ones for the semester as well as any official exam; doesn't matter if you have an intermediate theory level and you want to improve, or if you would like to be stronger solidifying the knowledge you have (which is always the best option), or if you don’t know anything about notes and music concepts and you would like to be familiar with them. Maybe you are an adult who always wanted to improvise but doesn’t know where to start…? The only thing you need is a good organization -which I can provide- to reach any goal!
