About Me

I am an experienced musician. I have been playing the cello since age four and perform regularly throughout the year in orchestras and ensembles. I have also been singing for the same length of time. As a musician, I have toured in Germany and China, and performed at most major venues in the UK.
During my gap year, I taught beginner piano to choristers at a local church I was working at. I absolutely love teaching children (and adults too, of course!) and would love to share the joy of the cello with you.

Relaxed (but rigorous) environment: Once you've defined your goals, classes will be dynamic and pressure-free. Note! "Relaxed" doesn't mean undemanding; we'll just avoid military methods—especially given my personality and sense of humor.

My name is Miriam, I am a graduate in Master of Classical Music at KASK & Conservatorium in Ghent.
I've been teaching cello to children, teenagers and adults for 10 years, so I've acquired the necessary experience to be able to adapt to the different and personal needs and objectives of each student. My teaching methodology focuses on creating a friendly and relaxed environment (which does not mean undemanding!) in which students feel confident to express their own ideas and worries. In my lessons I focus on technical and postural questions, but we also reflect together on the music, as I like my students to develop their own musical ideas and not just imitate the teacher.

Furthermore, thanks to my musical upbringing, I am well-versed in the Kodály method, making the connection between singing and the inner ear with instrumental technique a very natural part of my teaching approach. I teach cello to students of all ages and levels: from complete beginners to those preparing for conservatory auditions. My goal is to build your technique and musicality together, step by step, so that you're always challenged but never overwhelmed.

A typical lesson works on a mix of technique (posture, bow control, tone production), repertoire suited to your level and taste, and — if you want it — music theory and sight-reading. I'll set clear short-term goals with you each lesson and check in regularly on your progress, so you always know what you're working toward and why.

I have experience teaching students with dyslexia and ADHD, and I adjust my pacing and explanations so lessons stay clear and comfortable rather than stressful. If you're an absolute beginner, don't worry — I've taught people who've never held a cello before, and we start exactly where you are.

A bit about my background: I hold a Master of Music from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where I studied under Ella van Poucke, and I graduated cum laude from the Conservatory and University of Thessaloniki. With my quartet, I won First Prize and the Young Jury Prize at the Storioni Festival Competition 2026, and I've performed at venues including Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Muziekgebouw Amsterdam, and Muziekgebouw Eindhoven.

Children will learn how to use music for communication, skills to deliver lyrics, singing poems to resonate action heartfelt, passion to advance in music career, practicing music production and using of digital music work station ( DAW) . Children will enhance experience relations with interactive music training, instrumental activation, random demo beat making and random demo vocal mixing.

I offer individual violin lessons for beginners, advanced players and music students.

My particular focus is on Baroque music and historically informed performance practice. For the past three years, I have been intensively studying the Baroque violin and the music of the 17th and 18th centuries. In my teaching, I convey not only technical fundamentals but also stylistic understanding, phrasing, articulation, and the characteristic sound of Baroque music.

In addition, I naturally also teach the classical violin repertoire. Lessons cover playing technique, bowing, intonation, vibrato, scales, musical expression, and efficient practice.
