Chemistry (One-on-one or group tuition) (IB HL and SL, AP, SAT, GCSE, iGCSE, etc.)

--I am currently doing a PhD at Imperial College London

-MSc Biochemistry University of Oxford:I graduated in 2018 with a specialization in virology

-IB diploma 42/45: HL Maths 7/7; HL Physics 7/7; HL Chemistry 7/7; SL Geography 7/7; SL French 7/7; SL Enligsh: 6/7. I graduated in 2014 from United World College of South East Asia East Campus in Singapore

I taught at Oxford Royale Academy teaching Chemistry, Physics, and Academic Writing to students aged 16-18 in groups of 8 to 25 students. In my final years of high school and while studying at Oxford, I tutored students in groups of up to 5. I I specialize in preparing students for IB, A-levels, or IGCSEs exams, but I also have experience tutoring students as young as 8 years old.

My approach varies depending on the student’s needs and learning style. I push my students to think independently and to apply abstract concepts to real-world scenarios. I start with topics that the student is fairly comfortable with, progressing slowly to new and more complex areas as their understanding grows. I tend to use past exam paper questions on a particular topic to check understanding as we're going through the topic. Once a student has grasped a topic, I shift my focus to exam technique: what to look for in exam questions, common pitfalls, and how to start tackling the more challenging questions. I believe that a clear and systematic approach is essential when tacking exams in the sciences.

About Me

I am a 23-year-old Belgian-Irish student who has just started a 4 year PhD at Imperial College London in the research area "The Molecular and Cellular Basis of Infection” with a focus on viruses.

I grew up a little all over the world having been born in South Africa and having lived in Swaziland, Poland, Bosnia, Belgium, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Timor Leste, and Singapore where I completed my International Baccalaureate at the United World College. After completing my IB in 2014, I moved to Oxford to attend a 4 year-integrated Master’s course in Biochemistry at the University of Oxford. After graduating from Oxford in the summer of 2018, I moved to Munich Germany for a virology internship at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. In February 2019 I began tutoring full time before the start of my PhD in October 2019.

I am an extremely active person and enjoy a variety of sports. I used to sail competitively internationally in the Laser 4.7 and Laser Radial Classes, and still sail during the holidays. Since being at university my love for rugby has also grown. However given my susceptibility to injury and clumsiness, I now only stick to Touch Rugby. I also boulder/rock climb as often as I can.

I have experience teaching and tutoring students aged 10-19 and I am comfortable with the iGCSE, GCSE, IB, A-Level, and EB (European Baccalaureate) syllabuses. I have in-depth experience tutoring both the iGCSE and IB in Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Geography. My approach varies depending on the student’s needs and learning style. I push my students to think independently and to apply abstract concepts to real-world scenarios. I start with topics that the student is fairly comfortable with, progressing quickly to new and more complex areas as their understanding grows. I tend to use past exam paper questions on a particular topic to check understanding as we're going through the topic. For IB and the IGCSE, I have made summary notes on each unit topic and have compiled past exam paper questions on that topic with answers. Once a student has grasped a topic, I shift my focus to exam technique: what to look for in exam questions, common pitfalls, and how to start tackling the more challenging questions. I believe that a clear and systematic approach is essential when studying for exams in the sciences.

Education

I am currently doing a PhD in infectious disease at Imperial College London. I graduated from the University of Oxford with a Masters degree in Biochemistry in June 2018 and a bachelor degree in June 2017. I completed my IB diploma in 2014 receiving 42/45 points, and 7/7 in Higher Level Maths, Physics, and Chemistry and Standard Level Geography and French.

Experience / Qualifications

Tutoring Experience:
I have over 5 years of tutoring experience in Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Geography. I tutored part time during my undergraduate years at university, and I tutored full time post-graduation from February 2019-September 2019. During my time in Munich, I built up an international tutoring network of over 15 full time students. Many of my students attend international schools and I have tutored the following subjects: IB HL and SL Chemistry, IB HL Physics, IB HL and SL Biology, IB HL and SL Maths, IB SL Maths Studies, iGCSE double and triple science, iGCSE 0580 and 0607 Maths, iGCSE Geography, and iGCSE French. I have also tutored several students who follow the European Baccalaureate programme in Maths, Chemistry, and Biology. I have had 2 students under the age of 14, to help support them in Maths and general sciences.

Teaching Experience:
I worked as a teacher at Oxford Royale Academy in Oxford immediately after graduation. I taught Chemistry, Physics and Academic writing to classes of students aged 16-19. The class sizes were between 5-25 students. I really enjoy teaching a classroom of students, but I prefer the more personalised teaching approaches I can use with smaller groups of students.

Serdane
Science course (physics-chemistry-bio) for high school students.
My name is Serdane and I offer science classes to high school students who have a hard time finding a way to work that suits them. Extrovert and bubbly ... and above all, a lot of humor! Everyone learns in his own way. This is why I do not have a rigid method but adapt to the contrary to the specificities of each student. I evaluate its level, its strengths, its possible weaknesses or delays, and I develop my course accordingly. My priority: to restore confidence to the student: science is within everyone's reach when it is well explained! I believe in active teaching methods: I try to involve the student as much as possible, to make him discover what works for him, so that he can continue his career independently. Finally, I bring specific help when preparing questions or exams in a more difficult subject. My rate includes full tuition (private lessons, the ability to ask questions outside of class time, writing and correcting questions, etc.). NB: I am on vacation (without internet access) until September 9th included. Looking forward to reading you.

Private lessons in Maths Physics Chemistry and Biology
The support I give you in Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics is very practical and is based on the explanation of the courses followed by in-depth exercises on the chapters covered in class. Free to ask all questions relating to the chapter and the concepts covered, tests are available to prepare you for class assignments and exams. I am patient and tolerant so whatever your nature, we will get along perfectly. Always available to follow you and I do whatever it takes to help you enjoy chemistry, physics and math. All my students who at the beginning had difficulties in Chemistry, physics or mathematics, end up excelling in these subjects with very good marks. Roland, whom I particularly thank, was one of my students who initially had enough gaps in chemistry. But from the first lessons, he started by better understanding the concepts and even finished his baccalaureate with very good grades in physics and chemistry.

Julien
Private Science Lessons - Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics
Dear student, I am a chemist graduated from EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology). I have always been fascinated by science and now I hold a doctorate in solid-state physics from the University of Geneva. Science subjects can help you pass exams. I have been teaching these disciplines for many years during exercise sessions held at the University as well as in private lessons given as an independent. For this reason, you will have the possibility to ask me for explanations on any subject. It is indeed useful that you can progress on the basis of what you already know. You will of course have the choice to ask me for remedial lessons to revise or discover entire chapters. Before the first lesson starts, I will invite you to explain your situation to me freely and free of charge so that we can work effectively from the first lesson. All scientific subjects have in common a method that is called "scientific logic". Whenever the opportunity arises, I will offer you elements of this method because it is this method that will allow you to understand durably and to solve the exercises rigorously. Your studies are serious business, demand that you be taken seriously. Best regards, Julien

REVIEW + SPECIAL COURSES IN PHYSICAL MATHEMATICS ELECTRONICS CHEMISTRY (courses, exercises, exams corrected)
Professor in mathematics, computer science at HEFF in Brussels and before a professor of electronics at the IEPSCF, ENGINEER in electronics ECAMIEN graduated in mathematics-physics and I propose an individualized pedagogy, an aid in the preparation of the interrogations or exams. My goal is to advance the student without overloading him. I give homework after each lesson and periodically provide progress reports. I strongly encourage the student because the state of mind and morale have a direct influence on school results. I am someone understandable and I always try to take each one in his own way. I always start by clarifying the course after giving an example then give an example to the student more to do a complete exercise and finally correct a review together generally it's that methodology but it can change from one case to another review the courses studied in class. give remarks that makes the job easier. give the tips and tricks you need to get a good rating. try to make the student fast in these calculations and these demonstrations and give the way with which he has to manage his duty.
