After a section of tuition has been completed (equal to a half term) I examine the notes and give feedback. I have very limited availability at the moment but if it's online lessons I have more than the calendar shows. The class is tailored to the individual but in general technique and musicality go hand in hand. I am strong on the reading of music as this gives the student all the necessary tools to read so many different genres of music... and to then be free of music if that is the goal.

A-Level and GCSE Mathematics can often be rather challenging. There are several complex topics which are often not taught to high standards within a typical school setting, and this can lead to marks lost which may make or break the chance of achieving the top grades. I ensure to teach these sophisticated topics through many different approaches so that the student is well-equipped to tackle any question which they may face and makes it near impossible to not understand a question. I have experience with tutoring at my school, and I have learned how to communicate with students effectively and patiently. Through my “short-cuts”, students will be able to complete challenging questions in less time with ease- putting them at an advantage over their peers.

In my classes we'll analyse different aspects of drumming: the base of rhythms, drums technique , coordination, musicality, theory, drums notation reading, the difference between music styles, how to play in a band, the role of a drummer in music, ear training.

I have experience tutoring children and teenagers to help them prepare for their exams (GCSE, A-Level), to boost their confidence when speaking and writing, or just to ensure what they learned in class has been clearly understood. I have also helped quite a few adult friends practice and improve their spoken French, and I would love to help you do so too! I strongly believe the student should be at the centre of the tutor’s attention and planning every step of the way. Every tutee is different, and I will always spend the first hour discussing what their expectations are, what has worked best for them until then, and what they are struggling with. If their attention span is short, I will make sure to both work with it by adapting my lessons and work to improve it over time. If exam anxiety prevents them from achieving the results they could, I will include regular mock exams. I want my tutees to feel at ease and stress-free during our lessons, and making our time together safe and comfortable is crucial to me.

I specialize in teaching music theory and piano, especially for songwriters, drawing from my background of classical piano, my MA in songwriting, and my career as a published singer/songwriter. I assign creative exercises as homework, and I try to not let any question unanswered! For instrumentalists, we will look at the piano and some of its different techniques - classical, jazz, accompanying yourself, with focus on what the student actually wants to learn. For songwriters, we will go through music theory basics, and then basic harmony until we will be able to construct own our songs.

This course is focused around the AQA syllabus for GCSE Maths students- though it will helpful for any intermediate level student. The classes will use the CGP Exam Practice Workbooks as a guide but will be tailored towards whatever areas or concepts my students need to work on, or are curious to learn more about. Rather than just 'talking at' my students, I want to make sure they are involved- and I believe the best way to do that is working through questions together. I am a recent graduate of the University of Manchester, with a degree in Physics with Philosophy.
