I previously was a primary school teacher of all subjects (Grades 1&2) for a private international school in Dubai. I am familiar with international school curriculum and challenges faced by students when moving to a new country. I have extensive experience with students of all learning levels. I have been privately tutoring for over 10 years now. English is my first language (I am American). I also have experience tutoring at a higher age (as well as university level). I am an excellent writer, editor, and researcher and work part time in UVA's graduate school in the sociology department. I completed my MSc at UVA and undergraduate at UCLA. Currently, the majority of my students are primary school students who attend the British school or ISA. However, I teach a large number of international school students or older students. I also tutor many students, of various ages, in the Dutch schooling system. I am very comfortable with international school curriculums, however, I also have a good grasp on the Dutch schooling system. Trusted teacher: Looking for a highly experienced English tutor? Then you've come to the right place! I'm a former economics teacher with a full-time teaching qualification who, since 2021, has dedicated myself entirely to tutoring various subjects. I did this because it allows me to do what I love most: explaining material, building student confidence, and working together to improve grades. This way, I've helped around 200 students achieve passing grades or even pass exams over the past few years! So, while I'm a former economics teacher, my language skills also make me an excellent tutor in English, particularly in spelling, grammar, and reading comprehension. I can also be of great help in preparing for the English exam. I received a 9 (out of 10) in English in high school (pre-university education). Afterward, I pursued my bachelor's and master's degrees in English and studied in America for six months. The structure of the tutoring is always determined in consultation, but generally, I'm a big fan of starting on assignments as soon as possible. Why? Because then I can quickly see what you can already do and what you're still struggling with. I help with that. This way, I avoid unnecessary explanations of things you already know. Moreover, you can then immediately apply the explanations you do need to an assignment. This way, the material sticks much better. By the way, if you prefer tutoring at home, but I live too far away, consider trying online tutoring. I'm very experienced in that. I always give online tutoring via Google Meet, using a digital whiteboard where I can draw, color, paste, and type. This way, I can explain/demonstrate everything perfectly. I then share everything I've written on the whiteboard with you via WhatsApp so you can review all the explanations and solutions at your leisure after the lesson. Super convenient! Finally, if I had to describe myself in a few words, they would be: knowledgeable, calm, reliable, approachable, committed and tidy.

I need to re-study 4 years of high school maths in only 5 months. Mahmood agreed to help me with this difficult task and thanks to his professional way of teaching I believe I can make this happen. He explains topics in detail and yet quickly enough to spare time for other topics. If you are unsure he points you to the right direction. Most important thing for me was that he made me realize that I first need to master concept #1 in order to be able to later master concept #5 and so on. You can see that he has a lot of teaching experience, he tries to understand the way YOU think and based on that he serves you clear explanation for topics you struggle to understand. I definitely recommend him as your next teacher!

Yu feels like a very experienced girl, she gives you the right kind of attention. Her command and enthusiasm of the Chinese language is out of this world. Not only will she teach you Mandarin very professionally, but she will also explain and give historic reasons for some notions. To put a word or phrase into context is in my opinion a very effective and pleasurable way of learning a new language. Within an hour we made so much progress; something I honestly did not expect. I'm very happy I found her and I'm already hyped for the many lessons to come.

We had our first session a few days ago, with Alessandra tutoring my 8 year old son and 5 year old daughter, developing their reading and writing in English and their mathematics. Alessandra's previous experience as a teacher certainly shines through, as she definitely seems to know how children of this age learn. She provided original and exciting activities for the kids and they found it great fun; they are looking forward to seeing her again next week. Alessandra was professional to work with and I can definitely recommend her.
