English has become the Lingua Franca of our times. It's a valuable skill to possess, beneficial for everyone. It comes handy in the ever-developing world that we live in and opens doors to many places, also in the mind. Additionally, bilingualism enhances the cognitive skills. Whether you'd like to improve your speaking skills and break the language barrier or you wish to prepare better for an English exam, I come to an aid. In 2023, I've obtained a Master degree in Linguistics at the University of Amsterdam. I've achieved the C1+ levels in English, on the CEFR scale. I have 2 years of experience living in London, where I acquired RP (received pronunciation) and 7 years of experience in the International Academia (Amsterdam). My linguistic background gives me the capacity to explain the sounds and various processes of the language, from a perspective many natives do not know. In teaching, I practice the holistic approach. It is my belief that language is for people of every age and education, but I'm aware that everyone deserves a personal approach. In the first session, we always do a needs analysis and become acquainted, to make sure we click as people and will enjoy working away at your personal language goals. Over the years, my classes, have proven to raise the confidence levels of students. We practice knowledge in English, on 4 levels of proficiency: Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing. I will focus on your strengths and guide you to how to use those to your advantage in learning. We will elicit your potential. With a little help, I am sure you will achieve the goals you set for yourself.

- Dutch courses - All levels - Online lessons - Individual & Group Hi! My name is Bart and I have a passion for language and coaching/teaching. Having lived in several different countries I know how challenging it can be to learn a new language and to put it into practice. Especially Dutch, with it's unusual pronunciations and structures. During our lessons I will explain how to deal with such issues and show you that Dutch is actually quite a structured language and a lot less complicated that often suggested. I am a positive and optimistic person and this is also how I teach. I focus on how to do things right rather than wasting energy on why things are wrong. This creates a nice learning atmosphere and it also makes the course much more productive. I like to have an open communication with my students and encourage them to let me know what their difficulties are and what they want to improve. When learning a language it is very important that you can quickly put into practice what you have learned. This naturally motivates you to learn more. For that reason I find it important that it is clear from the beginning what the language needs and wishes of my students are so we can work towards your goals in an effective way and make sure you are able to apply what you have learned as soon as possible. The reason why I like teaching so much is because I enjoy showing people what they are capable of and to help them develop their skills. Another reason is that it allowes me to open the door for you to a great language and culture!

Since there is no single best method for everyone, I base my approach depending on the student and their goals. Generally, with younger children I use the direct method, only using English and with an audio-lingual approach, so that they get used to the language before seeing it in written form. This kind of teaching in often done through games. With young adults, who usually have a good base of the language, I do more grammar and vocabulary exercises, as well as practicing conversation and writing skills. If a student needs to take an English proficiency test (such as IELTS or TOEFL) or wishes to improve their writing skills, there will be a greater focus on grammar, vocabulary and sentence structure.

-I tutor kids between 6 and 12 with patience, explaining carefully all they do not understand by giving them proper examples and helping them practice a lot. -The kid will have a homework, that i will check during the following week and explain them if is necessary, what they did wrong in the next session -After every chapter they will learn, I will give the a test to verify all the information they gained, and if it is needed to study more certain modules. -The point of the test is helping the kid to get used with the environment of a class test and helping them not to have emotions before an exam.

Nowadays a good command of English is useful and often even necessary. We come in contact with the language almost everywhere, in school, on television, the internet, in conversations. As a native German speaker I once had to learn the language as well and I know how challenging it can be. I already majored in English at school. After school, I went to a language school in the United States in order to prepare for the TOEFL language certificate. Thereafter I started a bachelor program which was held entirely in English. During my studies I learnt a lot about academic writing practices. Often, the lessons in school focus on grammar and vocabulary failing to to convey a basic understanding of the language. Conversation and writing fall short as well. I am offering lessons for children and teenagers. My goal is to support their learning experience in an engaging way. We will discuss what you need and how I can help you. Be it a basic introduction, grammar or conversational training. I also offer proofreading. Lessons can also be taught via Skype.

Hi there! I am a Vietnamese native (Hanoian), used to live in England for 2 years, and now in my 9th year living in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Tutoring Vietnamese is my passion and I dedicate myself to a great experience for the students. This class will introduce you to various aspects of the Vietnamese alphabet, grammar, and spelling. I will also provide speaking practice at the end of every class. This class is designed for those of you who are interested in the Vietnamese language, as well as Vietnamese culture. New vocabulary for each topic will be discussed. My study background is in Mathematics and Statistics, thus with the combination of languages you can expect 'a bit' of reasoning logic behind all lessons I give (which I think gives some structure to the lessons as well)!
