Trusted teacher: A qualified language coach with 25 years of experience offers intensive Dutch lessons in a small class or online. I give many Dutch NT2 lessons to expats and in preparation for an integration exam. Specialized in guiding for the State Exam I and II. Special exam coach. In January 2025 I will also start with groups again. We have a great classroom in the center of Rotterdam, near metro station Beurs, lessons with small homogeneous groups (little difference in level). We mainly go for quality and not just running a lesson. I am really involved in the progress of the student. In addition to teaching, I want to do everything to really motivate students to take the next step. That is my strength! You can also choose the online lesson package with Whereby, Teams or Zoom in a comfortable way. Online classes are one-on-one or maximum one-on-two, for better results. My English is fluent, as well as Portuguese and Spanish. I understand the difficulties of overcoming barriers for Latin languages and for expats in general, as I have also been an expat. Online lessons last 75 minutes once a week for 10 weeks to reach a higher level. This is the normal speed. Including exam training (A-2 or Staatsexamen) and exam at the end. Intensive training ? That can also be done in five to ten full days, I am used to giving these very intensive trainings to CEOs or managers who want it faster and more intensive ... all lessons within 3 or 4 weeks. Based on the European system A-1, A-2, B-1, B-2 and C-1 As soon as students want to further improve their knowledge of Dutch, I always advise and coach them to take the State Exam I or II, the only formal Certificate in this country, recognized by employers and universities. I will try to switch to conversation after a few lessons, to put your knowledge into practice as soon as possible. Don't get too caught up in the grammar. Teaching is my ultimate passion and even after 25 years it feels like the first time and students always feel inspired to overcome the obstacles. I also teach you about Dutch social culture, which is intertwined in the course and is strongly related to the language.

Trusted teacher: -Dutch & videos below- Lessons in 6 languages! With more than 200 students through all my life, more than 500 shows (mostly in Spain but also around Europe and a couple of minitours in America), 15 CDs/EP/singles published (as a frontman, sideman and producer), a bachelor in jazz-modern music guitar (Taller de Músics - Barcelona), half bachelor in piano jazz (Conservatori del Liceu - Barcelona) and a long professional music career behind me playing a ton of different styles (pop, rock, funk, metal, jazz, folk, rumba, reggae...), I've come from Barcelona to Rotterdam to continue my musical journey by doing the latin master at Codarts. I've been working as a music teacher for around 12 years (I'm 29 years old), both doing private lessons and in different music schools, being the most important one the “Escola de Música Creu Alta” in Sabadell (Barcelona), which is one of the biggest music schools in Spain (with more than 900 students), in which I was the Head of the Modern Music Department. I teach guitar (electric and classical), piano (electric and classical), composition, musical production (with Logic Pro), ensemble and modern music theory AT ALL LEVELS, from 100% beginners to people who want to prepare themselves for the music bachelor. I can adapt totally to what the student wants and is looking for, but also, since I have a lot of experience, I have the lessons well planned, I know which songs and exercises work better depending on the aspect that we want to work (tempo, chords, scales, sound, improvisation...) and when I see someone playing I can see in which aspects is the person strong, and in which aspects has the person more problems, so that way you won't waste your time! Also I'm a fun and very empathetic person so we will have fun, which is the most important thing!! I speak 6 languages: Catalan, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Dutch and English, so we can do the classes in one of these languages. The lessons can take place in my home (Maashaven metro station) where I have a nice setup, online or in your home. -Dutch- Lessons in 6 languages! Trusted teacher: Ciao! I have been teaching Italian for the past twelve years. I have taught privately and at language schools like La Scuola Italiana del Greenwich Village in New York and ItalCultura, the school of the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago. During the first few lessons I will make sure you have the tools to pronounce and identify all the sounds of the Italian language. This step is essential! And it will make everything easier afterwards. When I teach Italian I try to avoid all the things that I hated as a language student. We will use real songs, real literature, do real conversation and storytelling. When you are engaging all your senses it is easier to keep your mind relaxed and to remember new words. I will customize my materials to your interests, needs and desired pace. And because you are learning from a native Italian you will also learn about Italian culture and history. You will absorb a way of thinking, not just grammar rules. I speak a bunch of languages so I know a thing or two about how tedious language classes can be. My terrifying French teacher in middle school made us repeat the same fake dialogue from a really bad book ad nauseam, over and over and over again. Some of those dialogues are carved in my brain: “Bonjour, je m’appelle Richard Drapeau, je viens du Canada, je suis Canadien...” When I teach Italian I try to avoid all the things that I hated as a language student. We will use real songs, real literature, do real conversation and storytelling and we will go on “talking walks” because when you are engaging all your senses it is easier to keep your mind relaxed and to remember new words. I hold a degree in Lingue e Letterature Straniere (Foreign Languages and Literatures) from Università Roma Tre (equivalent to an American MA) and a Master’s of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts and Media from Columbia College Chicago. I wrote a thesis about translating a long epic poem by W. H. Auden and I tried to ride a horse across America.

Trusted teacher: Do you want to work on classical repertoire? Do you want to learn songs from around the world or invent your own? do you want to play happy birthday to your best friend with a Cello? Let's explore together this beautiful instrument with pieces that you like, finding different ways to play one thing, becoming actors on the stage of music... Let's create games to develop creativity and technique, those that will help you to personalise your way of playing. With music, we learn much more than just playing pieces. I always thought about how the ancient Greeks introduced Music as an essential subject in school. Music was to heal, to entertain, to get to know yourself more. I'm just finished my studies in the University of Arts of Codarts (Rotterdam) and I can't deny I will always keep learning after finishing my degree. I'm looking forward to sharing some knowledge and to hear what you already know. What can i offer? Styles that we can work on: Classical, Folk, Jazz, Pop music. Languages that we can speak in the lesson: Dutch, English, Catalan or/and Spanish Skills that we can work on: basic techniques, jazz and folk techniques, play the cello while singing, percussion on the cello. How do I work? Each class will be individually prepared, in order to have the student goals in mind. In our first lesson we can get to know each other and then we will figure out what do you want and how can I help you. For BEGINNERS I teach the bow, finger positions and other basics with easy songs (with kids I add games to make it more entreating). Such as relating painting with playing, dancing with playing or literature with playing. For AVERAGE LEVEL we explore, with already some technique, how to play songs, finding a good sound and feel at ease with the instrument. Extra activities: Once a month I plan a rehearsal with pianist to work on some repertoire of cello and piano. Meetings with other students are also arranged to play duos together. It's very necessary to play with people and not get stuck in our own individual studies! Do you have doubts or need more information? Don't hesitate to write me a message!

Trusted teacher: “Don't play the saxophone. Let it play you.” – Charlie Parker Every person has their own musicality—we just need to let it come out. My goal as a teacher is to help you discover how much fun, joy, and passion music can bring. Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced player, I will guide you in developing both your technical skills and your personal voice on the saxophone. I began my musical journey in Verona, Italy, where I graduated in Classical Saxophone in 2017. Soon after, I started teaching saxophone at the Lizard Music Academy in Garda and introducing music to children in primary and middle schools. Later, my passion for improvisation and creativity led me to continue my studies at Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam, where I specialize in Jazz and Latin music. I believe music has no age: you are never too young or too old to express yourself through an instrument. If you feel drawn to the warm, expressive sound of the saxophone, let’s begin this musical journey together. “Whatever you think can’t be done, somebody will come along and do it.” – Thelonious Monk SAXOPHONE LESSONS: To truly express your musical ideas on the saxophone, you need a strong connection between body, mind, and instrument. That’s why every lesson begins with a focus on sound and technique—developing your tone, breath control, and body awareness. You will learn how to shape your own saxophone sound and how to “sing” through the instrument. For beginners, this process may take a few weeks, but it quickly shows how musical practice can positively influence not only your playing but also your body, emotions, and creativity. To make your learning experience enjoyable and personal, my lessons are always adapted to your goals and musical interests—whether that’s reading music, improvisation, or other areas you want to explore. Together, we will also build your own personal repertoire of songs that reflect who you are. The second part of each lesson will be dedicated to working on these pieces, so that you develop not only technique but also musical expression. HOW MY LESSONS WORK In my lessons, the main focus is sound. A beautiful saxophone sound has the power to captivate an audience with just a single note. That’s why we always start by working on long tones across the full register of the instrument. The more natural and relaxed your embouchure and body are, the more easily the reed will vibrate—resulting in a warmer, personal sound. We will then explore saxophone technique, including scales, arpeggios, vibrato, tonguing, dynamics, overtones, and playing in both the low and high registers. These exercises will give you the technical foundation to express yourself freely. From there, we’ll connect technique with music: 1. Harmony & Improvisation – We’ll work directly on the songs you love. By transcribing, analyzing, and exploring harmony, you’ll learn how to improvise over chord progressions and develop your own repertoire. 2. Reading Music – An essential skill if you want to play in bands, ensembles, or orchestras. We’ll practice sight-reading and written repertoire to strengthen this ability. 3. Audition Preparation – If your goal is to enter a conservatory (classical or jazz), I have experience guiding students through auditions. We can focus on etudes, required repertoire, and exam preparation. Above all, my approach is personalized to your goals and interests. Whether you want to play your favorite songs, learn to improvise, or prepare for advanced studies, I’ll guide you step by step. I believe that music makes the mind free, and that everybody can play—it’s just a matter of practicing and listening in the right way. If you feel that the saxophone is your instrument... what are you waiting for? 🎷 Let’s make music together! FOR THE CURIOUS (and the Nerdy!): For students who want to dive deeper into the world of the saxophone, I also offer special listening sessions dedicated to the instrument’s role in music history and across different styles. We’ll explore the saxophone in classical repertoire (Gershwin, Bizet, Milhaud, Rota, Bernstein, Steve Reich, Michael Nyman...), and then follow its journey through popular music: Blues, Jazz (Stan Getz, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Sonny Rollins...), Latin, Rock & Roll, Pop, and beyond—right up to today’s music. Together, we will listen to the milestones of great composers and performers who shaped the history of this fantastic instrument. It’s a journey of discovery into the beauty of music through the saxophone—one that will inspire you, expand your listening, and deepen your passion for this amazing art form.

Trusted teacher: Hola amigos! My name is Kevin and I am a Business Administration professional with first-hand experience in tutoring foreign students from different nationalities. My linguistic spectrum consists of English, French and Spanish, which I master both orally and written. As a native Spanish speaker, I possess significant experience in the construction of argumentative texts and academic essays in Spanish. On the personal side, one of my greatest passions are philosophy and literature. As such, I am constantly reading and translating texts in order to increase and develop my language skills. Consequently, my work methodology is mostly focused on motivating the student to speak freely and to learn by acknowledging his/her mistakes. From the beginning, I will try to address the lessons 100% in Spanish, with the aim of familiarizing the ear to the pronunciation. In terms of written exercises, it is important to know what are the student’s learning priorities. When starting with the written part, it is important to know the student is dedicated to practicing and that he will also benefit from this in his future experiences. This is why the exercises will address current social problems that allow him to be fluent when he meets other Spanish speakers. In order for the student to learn as easily and efficiently as possible, homework exercises will be given after each lesson, drafted according to the parts that the students wishes to master best (speaking, reading, listening, writing). This way, the student will benefit from a fluid learning process and, with dedication, will be able to excel in Spanish in a short period of time.

I had previously played some classical for a few years, but was looking to learn jazz piano and improvisation as well. For this David is ideal, as he studied both as a classical and jazz musician, and has a deep understanding of each. About half the lessons we focus on jazz improvisation. During the lessons I improvise over a few songs, and each session he gives feedback, while adding a new layer of difficulty. We've also worked a lot on rhythm, which has really helped me bridge the gap between classical and jazz. We spent a few lessons on classical pieces as well, to refine technique and musicality. My playing feels much more fluid and musical already, and he's really helpful/knowledgeable with the details. Also, on the weeks where I did have not had much time to practice, we do a more (jazz) theory oriented lesson, which has also helped alot with my improvisation. Overall, I only have positive things to say about the lessons! David is a very easy-going teacher, and from the first lesson I felt very comfortable asking him questions. He's very versatile as well, and easily adapts the lesson according to what suits us best that week.

Reconnecting with Pau as a guitar teacher has been as good as I remembered. He's a a great instructor in all the aspects: he's patient and when something is difficult for me he always finds and alternative that is complementary and it really helps me. He knows a lot about music and different genres but if you want to play something he doesn't master, he'd look into it and make it easy for you to enjoy it. The way he plays is so good he's an inspiration and it makes you want to be better. Always my number 1 option guitar teacher!

Valentina has been my Italian teacher since February. Since then, I have made great progress in learning Italian! She uses a very good method/book which also allows you to work online. But the best thing is the personal interaction with her, which really makes the difference: the explanation of grammatical stuff, the correct pronouncation and which words to use when and also some background information about Italy and the Italian people. A very pleasant and effective teacher! Alexander
