Trusted teacher: I am a professional composer, performer, pianist, and sound artist who believes that sharing knowledge and experience is one of the most important parts of our lives. We are creative human beings by nature. Are you passionate about music and sound and would you like to expand your knowledge? Do you want to learn how to compose your own music or play the piano? There is never too late to start or to continue with your passion! I believe that education is a dialogue and I adapt the course plan according to the level and the age of students in order to develop their potential. I am always trying to bring positivity, passion, and curiosity for learning. Depending on your interest I can help you with: Piano: I teach using different methods, according to your needs and goals. I always care about setting up and cultivating a healthy technique of playing, trying to bring a complex approach to interpretation or improvisation. Composition: Basic principles of creating a musical piece, theory of composition, notation (ranging from classical to graphic and open scores), instrumentation, orchestration, arranging, creating electroacoustic music, computer-aided composition, and recording. Music Theory: Harmony, rhythm, aural skills, music analysis, and history of music – these are some of the topics inseparably belonging to music education. Since I have many years of experience teaching music theory within all levels of education – from basics to advanced – we can find a way how to approach those topics with enthusiasm and creativity and learn as much as possible :)

Trusted teacher: First of all, I am glad that you found my information here. Unfortunately I'm not pleased that I often find some very bad amateurs try to fake themselves as they are professional pianist or teacher. They display themself fancy as they want since this labor isn't required a certification when it's private lessons. Beginners can not really decide if they are good or not. It is risky for motivated students. I have got some students through this site after having lessons by those fake teachers and I had to do so much work to re-start from the beginning with them. Personally I was struggling to play the piano as well due to my first piano teacher who couldn't teach me properly at all. Several years later, I had rare luck to found better teachers who have certain experiences as concert pianists. I started trying to get rid of my bad behaviors and rebuild new technique over 10 years on the piano. It takes so much time to get rid of.. It was tough work but now I can really tell you what it was and you can see some results on my videos here. I got very conscious of using my body proper way while practicing and I got more flexibilities on the piano. Let me share what I can do with you. Biography Shintaro is considered a unique pianist as performing modern and historical pianos parallel. He spent his childhood and student years in Japan. He already received first prizes at several known national piano competitions in Japan while he was studying at Kyoto City University of Arts. In the year of his master's graduation, he gave a solo recital in Kyoto, and his recital was considered as one of the best performances of over 200 concerts in the year by the AOYMA Music Foundation. He earned The AOYAMA Music Awards in 2010 and graduated master of piano performance in KCUA with summa cum laude. He continued his career as a soloist with several professional orchestras in Japan. Some of those concerts were broadcast on TV and radio. Shintaro continued studying the piano at Lucerne Conservatory with Konstantin Lifschitz supported by Hella Siegrist Fonds and AOYMA Music Foundation. He performed the Left-hand concerto by Ravel with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra and James Gaffigan in KKL Lucerne Concert Hall in 2014. "A brilliant pianist with solid technique and sensitivities" - Luzerner Zeitung 2014 “Elegantly and with creative power, Shintaro presented Mozart's Piano Concerto in E-flat Major KV 449, the layers of sound always audible, the dynamics balanced. It was surprising that the jury awarded him second prize. “ - Freiburger Nachrichten 2015 At the same time, his interests carried forward him to play chamber music, Lied duo, and historical practices on historical fortepianos. He received the first prize at the Orpheus-Swiss Chamber Music Competition participated by master students of all Swiss conservatories in 2014, and the second prize at The Rotary International in Lugano. Shintaro moved to the Netherlands in 2015, and he completed his master of fortepiano (historical pianos) at The Hague Royal Conservatory. He has worked as an accompanist and ensemble pianist for the Rotterdam Philharmonic orchestra, Opera2day, Residentie Orkest in Den Haag, Noord Nederlands Orkest. He also performed Brahms's “Deutsch Requiem” with Shuann Chai on historical piano and Luthers Bach Choir on the tour in 2020, "Mad King" by Maxwell Davies in New European Ensemble on the tour in 2021, a chamber music concert with François Fernandez and Yun Kyung Kim at the Beethoven Festival in 2022. Shintaro is a member of the New European Ensemble for the new opera “Don Quichot” by Vanni Moretto (composer) and Stefano Pintor (Librettist) collaborated with Opera2day and La Fonte Musica in the tour 2023.

João - The Hague60€
Trusted teacher: Over João R. Hello everyone! My name is João, piano and harpsichord player. I started playing the piano at the age of 7 years old and, since then, I completely fell in love with all the keyboard instruments and its possibilities of expressivity, the clear sense of making music, interacting with other musicians, for my own pleasure, and for the others. The harpsichord came in my life when I was 15 years old. I absolutely love Classical and Baroque Music and as well as Jazz and Pop. I started teaching piano at the age of 20 and I must confess that it became a great passion in my life! I love to see my students improving, getting acquainted with different music styles and motivated. I'm skilled in teaching kids and adults, beginners or experienced with the keyboard and/or music theory. Therefore, I use different methods, according to the student's needs and expectations. Each student is special so a lesson can differ, depending on the student's level. Normally, I start with warming up and technical exercises (posture is very important!), a brief music theory contextualisation of what is going to be approached in the lesson and, most importantly, have fun and provide a nice atmosphere during the lesson. I've graduated in piano and harpsichord at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 2007. In 2012 I've graduated in harpsichord at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, obtaining my Master degree at the same institution in 2014. Currently, I'm doing my Ph.D. studies in Performing Arts at Leiden University/Orpheus Instituut Gent. I teach theoretical music studies at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and, eventually, accompany and coach students from the Young Talent Music Department. In 2014 I've founded the Baroque Music Orchestra Le Concert d'Apollon, taking the lead of harpsichord player and music director. If you are willing to learn how to play the piano or continue your studies, it will be a pleasure for me to show you how learning a keyboard instrument has so much to add in your life. I can give lessons at my studio in The Hague or travel to your destination. I look forward to meeting you and guide you through the wonderful world of music!

Arefeh - The Hague41€
Trusted teacher: Learning how to play an instrument can fall into many classroom stereotypes; Not if you strive to discover sounds and styles, if you're open to learning not only an instrument but all that is related to music and sound making! I've taught at different institutes and private lessons for +5 years; then slowly began to put together my own method of teaching not only piano, but related subjects to help students gain a broader knowledge and be able to take next steps in their music journey even when they're finished with their music lessons. With all the experience I gathered in working with children and adults, I've composed a method of teaching subjects related to piano performance(music theory, music history, improvisation and creative music composing) alongside lessons on the instrument and piano techniques, as the student proceeds and is in need of more broad knowledge. It doesn't matter wether the student is a pupil or an adult, if they have experience in music or not, there's always a lot to discover together in my lessons; based on the students needs and interests. I usually start with basics of the instrument and give students a general lesson on how the instrument works. As we proceed in our lessons, we will cover techniques and more specific skills based on the interest of the student. Our lessons are very flexible regarding class material and my aim is to keep the lessons always fun and informative as well as following the bigger aim of helping the student to be confidant in their music performing and music creation. The format of our lessons will not stay the same as we work on different pieces, different skills and subjects. There are certain repertoire we will cover but also some of the pieces the student likes to be able to play and understand. We will also work on performing skills, I often organise mini concerts for students that like to overcome their fear of performing on stage or for others, giving them the opportunity to perform their own pieces or from classic piano repertoire.

Trusted teacher: Piano Lessons in The Hague Learning to play the piano is not only an incredibly useful skill but also an enjoyable and fulfilling process. The instrument can be a gateway to understanding and experiencing music, which is why I believe the piano should be made available to everyone. Children and Adults If you have a child or know someone who has developed an interest in learning the piano, you'd like to learn it as a second instrument, or you are a working professional who just fancies trying something new, I'd be happy to get you started on your musical journey. What to expect? You can learn how to read music, understand simple music theory, play simple chords and scales, develop your own creativity, and can focus on playing some classical/jazz/pop pieces and even work towards taking online performance exams. I will develop enjoyable lessons tailored specifically to you. Making the first steps In the beginning, the piano can be very overwhelming! I take a lot of time on the basics as there is always a lot to learn and take in. I use a variety of beginner method books and resources to help you build your confidence in understanding the piano itself, developing your coordination skills, learning to understand the musical notes on the page, developing your musical ear, and understanding basic music theory. Jazz - Pop - Classical After having covered the basics of piano playing, theory, and reading skills, many of my students move on to playing classical, jazz, blues, or pop pieces, practicing scales and finger exercises as well as further strengthening their sight-reading skills. Improvising Or if you perhaps wish to get away from notes written down on the page I can help you develop your own creativity by understanding theory and applying it to chordal playing, composing and improvising, and playing by ear. Practical Lessons From the age of 12, I had classical piano lessons and have always studied the piano as a secondary instrument to the trumpet. I continue to play piano as a hobby and during my studies at the conservatory, I developed an interest in jazz piano playing. You can therefore feel confident that no matter what your interest may be (perhaps you haven't figured this one out yet), I can give you high-quality fun, and enjoyable training in your own interests. No Piano yet? There are a lot of options and things to consider when working out how to get hold of or buy a keyboard/piano which can be confusing and sometimes stressful! I am happy to give advice to ensure the choice you make is right for you. Online Lessons For the last couple of years, I have been teaching lots of students online. Many have found this way not only to be very suitable but actually their preferred style of learning. Sometimes nothing can be better and simpler than learning in the comfort of your own home. As a teacher, I often find the best solution is a mix of both online and live lessons. We can experiment and find the best solution for you. Lesson Location I live in The Hague and teach from my apartment on a Yamaha Acoustic Upright and Electric piano. I'm pretty flexible, so if you're pushed for time or need to work out a better solution, I am happy to travel to another location close by if it's convenient! Get in touch If any of the above sparks your interest for you or a family member, or perhaps you feel like gifting someone you know with some piano lessons, please do get in touch.

Trusted teacher: Hello! I'm a 25-year-old pianist finishing his Master's degree in Koninklijk Conservatorium in Den Haag. I have ample experience as a teacher, and performing as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestra keyboardist, and accompanist. I have been teaching since 2018 and love working with people of all kinds of music tastes. I will adapt to your musical interests and help you accomplish your objective. On top of a piano teacher, I am a great piano coach, being able to help my students get where they want with the piano, even if they struggle with motivation to practice. I am easygoing, and I adapt to your expectations and rhythm, so we can work together in fulfilling your goals! In my lessons, you will: - Learn how to understand a score, with all the theoretical knowledge you need to approach the repertoire that you want to study. - Learn how to practice the piano. Ever tried and struggled to focus or to develop as much as you wanted? I can help you with that. - Learn to play the repertoire you want, with a step-by-step process that helps you develop more ability and security - Learn the piano technique - Learn how to enjoy music making! :) For the more medium and advanced students, I also offer: - Deep understanding of styles. I have done research on baroque and classical styles, and have studied with romantic, XXth century, and contemporary music experts, which has given me deep knowledge on how to understand the different styles of Classical Music. - Advanced practice technique. Sometimes, the more you advance in the instrument, the harder practice can become. Know how to practice difficult technical passages and musical ideas. - Sound control. Even if the sound in the piano might seem limited, it is not, it can simply be difficult to control. But it is the most important quality of a musical performance, alongside style. - Great support. I will help you find motivation and organize your practice. I also am a great support teacher. If you or your child is already studying in an institution and you want some extra help, I have always been able to help students who have found themselves improperly motivated by their main teacher, or who want help practicing. Music is fun! Let's learn together.
