With regular practice, you'll surprise yourself. We start with a solid foundation, such as proper posture, hand position, reading music, and playing in tempo. For advanced students, the focus is on articulation, dynamics, phrasing, and how to play in a classical or popular style. My lessons emphasize rhythm and expression. It's not about being able to play something incredibly fast, but about being able to play a piano piece with feeling and in the right rhythm. I'm now 41 and have been playing piano since I was 8. I started with simple pieces and took lessons from various teachers, including Sherry van Baaren. In Enschede, I studied with the Russian pianist Mikhail Markov for the correct interpretation of classical music such as Mozart sonatas and romantic pieces. All of this has led me to now teach piano myself and also to write my own piano method. I work as a teacher at an international primary school in the Netherlands and am used to working with children aged 3-12. I took a package of 5 lessons with Christiaan this summer. I wanted to understand how to use oil paint better. With Christiaan, we rapidly get to the point of the technical aspects of oil paint. He taught me the concept of layering in wet to wet and showed me examples of this in his current artwork. Christiaan is passionate about art and loves teaching! Highly recommended.
