Trusted teacher: Nowadays, English is indispensable in society and is therefore compulsory in school. Would you like to learn English for work or study? Or are you going on holiday to a country where English is spoken? Perhaps your child is struggling with English at school and you want to give him or her extra support. I'd love to help you! I am bilingual Dutch-English with a lot of speaking and writing experience, speak English daily with my Australian partner and enjoy passing on my knowledge to others. In addition, I have a lot of patience for people who have difficulties with different parts of English. I can offer help with sentence structure, grammar, pronunciation, reading skills and vocabulary practice, in order to give you or your child more certainty and guidance in the language. With students I focus on the problem points that exist and I use the school method. If, for example, it appears that a solid foundation is still missing, I can jump in and offer support in learning this. For (young) adults who are not (or no longer) in school, we will mainly focus on vocabulary, correct sentence structure and grammar in the beginners' lessons. However, I also quickly start speaking, reading and listening. With advanced students I focus on, among other things, speaking and listening skills and advanced word use by holding conversations together, watching documentaries and reading books. For starting students I use the books of "English for Everyone" and expand my lessons myself with extra materials, such as tailor-made exercises. Nothing else is required, and everything is possible in consultation.

Whether you'd like to improve your speaking skills and break the language barrier or you wish to prepare better for an English exam, I come to an aid. In 2023, I've obtained a Master degree in Linguistics at the University of Amsterdam. I've achieved the C1+ levels in English, on the CEFR scale. I have 2 years of experience living in London, where I acquired RP (received pronunciation) and 7 years of experience in the International Academia (Amsterdam). My linguistic background gives me the capacity to explain the sounds and various processes of the language, from a perspective many natives do not know. In teaching, I practice the holistic approach. It is my belief that language is for people of every age and education, but I'm aware that everyone deserves a personal approach. In the first session, we always do a needs analysis and become acquainted, to make sure we click as people and will enjoy working away at your personal language goals. Over the years, my classes, have proven to raise the confidence levels of students. We practice knowledge in English, on 4 levels of proficiency: Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing. I will focus on your strengths and guide you to how to use those to your advantage in learning. We will elicit your potential. Apart from being an artist, I like languages and learning them has become a passion for me, which is why I decided to take this passion to another level. During my classes I want to help you learn my native language, which is Latin American Spanish, in a personalized and dynamic way. The classes are separated by levels (A0-B2), where you will learn the grammar of the language but also vocabulary and expressions to use on a daily basis with other speakers of the language. My idea is that each student learns the language at their own pace but understanding and daring to speak it from the first day. Support material (book, exercises, audios, etc) is always included. Serdane is a wonderful teacher. Although my daughter learnt French at school she was very unconfident. Serdane was very sympathetic and gave her interesting material to read, discuss and to learn in class. She also went back to the basics which my daughter had missed out on at school and eventually my daughter graduated with 8.8 in French at the European BAC!
