Hello, I'm Jungmi, a professional jazz pianist and composer. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Jazz Piano and a degree in Jazz Composition from the Maastricht Conservatory. As the leader of the Little Big Jazz Orchestra, which I founded in 2022, I explore rich emotional landscapes through expressive melodies, intricate harmonies, and unique orchestrations.

My orchestra has received recognition, including a nomination for the Maastricht Jazz Awards, the Audience Award, and performances at festivals such as Jazz Out Fest and Make It Jazz Festival in Tilburg. We were also finalists for the Edmond Hustinx Prize and received an Honorable Mention at the Laren Jazz Festival 2024. Currently, we are preparing for our debut album release.

In addition to performing, I offer lessons in jazz piano, composition, and music theory. It can be jazz, pop and gospel music. My teaching focuses on helping students develop a strong foundation while discovering their unique sound. Whether you are looking to improve your improvisation, deepen your understanding of harmony, or compose your own music, I am here to guide you on your musical journey.

Through my experience playing in church, I have developed a strong understanding of harmonic progressions. As a jazz pianist, I specialize in expressive improvisation, rich voicings, and dynamic interplay within an ensemble. My playing blends sensitivity and technical precision, allowing me to adapt to various musical settings, from solo performances to a bigger settings as well.

For the class of composition will be also very structured. Students will learn different tools to compose or express their emotions in music.

Qui n’a jamais rêvé de pouvoir jouer d’un instrument de musique ?

Outre son aspect social, c’est surtout au niveau des émotions personnelles qu’il prend tout son sens.

Je suis professeur de piano depuis plus de 25 ans ayant occupé le poste de Directeur d’Académie de Musique Supérieure (niveau équivalent entre une Académie « Classique » et le Conservatoire). A ce stade de mon expérience, j’ai pu former un grand nombre d’élèves, avec pour chacun d’entre eux, une démarche individuelle, correspondant à leur attentes. Parmi ces personnes, certains sont devenus professionnels, d’autres ont choisi la pratique du piano pour leur propre plaisir.

Que vous soyez débutant, ayant un niveau intermédiaire, ou même un niveau très avancé, je m’engage à vous épauler et vous soutenir autant que possible pour continuer à progresser d’une façon significative dans votre passion.

Bonjour !

Je suis un pianiste diplômé du conservatoire royal de Bruxelles et je propose des cours individuels de piano de tous les styles et pour tous les niveaux à Hermée.

Les cours sont divisés en deux parties : une première partie d'exercices techniques afin de travailler en profondeur la technique pianistique en elle-même et une deuxième partie pendant laquelle nous abordons des morceaux variés de votre choix. Pour les personnes n'ayant pas d'idées précises, je peux bien évidemment conseiller du répertoire et fournir des partitions.

Les cours peuvent être envisagés sans la pratique du solfège en parallèle.

My course is aimed at amateur and professional pianists wishing to deepen their technique in terms of improvisation, understanding of harmony and accompaniment; I also offer "coaching" sessions in the context of assistance with creation (composition, interpretation etc.), I insist on the fact that it is not essential to have an in-depth knowledge of music theory!
As long as the motivation and desire are there, the rest will follow!

Passionate about the piano since the age of 7, and a Master's student at the Royal Conservatory of Liège, I wish to pass on my passion to anyone who wants to start or improve in this beautiful instrument that is the piano. .
Music theory, being obviously necessary for learning an instrument, will be included in piano lessons.

Different methods will be discussed during the course, depending on the student's needs and expectations. Each student is different and a lesson may differ depending on the level of the student. But I like to start with a few small technical exercises aimed at working on the agility of the fingers, and which will allow the student to get to know the instrument well.
Followed by a work of small melodies, according to the level of the pupil.

The courses will be given at my home, and the duration of the course may be 30min / 45min / 60min.

Whether you're a beginner looking to build a strong foundation or more experienced wanting to refine your skills, all lessons are tailored to each student's needs and goals, with the aim of building confidence and authenticity in their singing and/or develop a strong foundation on musical knowledge.
