About Me
Hi, nice to meet you! My name is Miri, I am a South Korean violinist living in Basel.
My parents were classical music lovers and amateur musicians. I grew up listening to classical music everyday, and I was crawling, running and playing under my mom's piano. One day, I saw a violinist on a TV show, playing with so much passion. That was the first time ever I discovered an instrument more than a piano. I was fascinated by the violin sound, and the violinist, and, her beautiful concert dress! :-) I started playing violin when I was 6, and it was been so much fun so I couldn't stop playing. And voila, it went on for 20 years!
I went to an Arts school in Seoul (Korea), got some professional music training, and when I turned 15, I decided to move to Moscow to study in Russian violin school. Because I wanted to have better technique. It was pretty tough to live there for a young teenage girl and it was quite a bit of cultural shock. But I'm happy for 4.5 years of Russian school. I really learned a lot. And seriously, I'm so proud of myself that I made it!
I came to Switzerland 8 years ago, to study with my professor R. Oleg. I finished Bachelor and Performance Master, and I'm currently studying in MA Music Pedagogy. I am performing actively as a chamber/orchestra musician in Switzerland.
