Trusted teacher: Are you curious about singing, but feel like you don’t know where to start? Do you already have some experience of singing and are curious about what your voice could achieve at its full potential? Do you feel shy about your voice and wish you could feel confident enough to sing in front of other people? I am Olivia, a professional opera singer who is passionate about teaching singers a healthy vocal technique in all styles of singing, and helping them to grow in confidence along the way. My teaching room is a safe space where students are free to experiment, make mistakes and discover everything about their voice with my full support! I have been teaching singing privately to pupils of all ages and levels for several years, as well as enjoying a busy performance career. I find that being a regular performer myself is very important when imparting knowledge and advice to my students because I want to teach you more than just the mechanics of singing - I want to guide you towards being an artist and expressing YOUR unique voice and personality. I work on vocal technique, drama and language, and have worked with children, teenagers, and adults - both those hoping to sing professionally and enthusiastic amateurs! Every lesson will include warmups and technical exercises as well as work on repertoire that we will choose together. I can teach in English, French or Italian. As for my performance experience: I began taking singing lessons at 13 years old after joining the school choir in secondary school in London, and adored the process of training my voice. In my teens, I performed in concerts as a soloist and also in a few musical theatre roles, most notably Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. I moved to Switzerland and trained as an opera singer at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève, and did a Specialised Masters (Soloist) at the Hochschule der Künste Bern. I have since gone on to perform with the opera houses of Geneva, Lausanne and Lucerne, the Opera House of Zrenjanin in Serbia, the Jeunesses Musicales Opera Studio (Croatia), London Grimeborn Festival, and have been a featured soloist at such concert venues as the Berlin Philharmonic, Salle Paderewski in Lausanne, the BFM in Geneva, the Cologne Philharmonic, and St Johns Smith Square in London. Most recently you may have seen me as Mrs P. in the Swiss première of Michael Nyman's 'The Man who mistook his Wife for a Hat' in Vevey, or if you've been enjoying the program 'Blob Opera' this year, you might be interested to know that I was one of the opera singers working on this project by recording hours of material for a machine to create an algorithm that recreating an opera singer's voice! Good singing is about solid and healthy vocal technique, a good feeling for music, self-expression and confidence! I would love to work with you to build all of these parts of yourself and to see where your voice takes you. If you have any questions, please do get in touch with me!

Trusted teacher: You will find a benevolent setting where you can try, start again, make mistakes, without judgment and with pleasure. No prerequisites for getting started. Your rhythm will be respected as well as the style and choice of repertoire you want to work on: pop, current music, musical or classical singing. Come fearlessly with your questions and your desires! Individual lessons for teenagers / adults - Technical work: breath, voice development through exercises adapted to the level and profile of each - Work on a piece from the repertoire: Putting technical work into practice on a piece chosen by the practitioner or by teaching for educational reasons. This moment also allows you to develop the learning of music theory if necessary. Objective: to be able to sing a piece while being comfortable with the accompaniment so that interpretation and pleasure predominate. Semi-private lessons For all ages, levels or tessitura. Form your small group (mixed or not) to do a group singing workshop! - Technical collective work. General approach to singing but also adapted to the needs of each one via bodywork and vocal warm-up. - The course is adapted according to the needs and desires of the group. However, I suggest two ways of working: o Soloist work: each participant brings a piece they wish to work on. Personalized working time that allows other participants to develop listening skills and learn by watching. We help each other, we advise each other with respect and kindness. o Choral work: Singing in several voices is an important part of singing and helps to broaden the repertoire. Work a capella or with the accompaniment of a piece with several voices in order to develop listening to the other, create one and the same voice with several, open up and decomplex! No need to know how to read music! As a choir director, I developed learning tools to allow non readers to work their scores on their own. Musical awakening course from 4 years old. Hello! Welcome to my voice studio. Whether you're exploring singing for the first time, refining technique you already have, or preparing for auditions and performances, I'm here to help you discover what your voice can do. Good singing isn’t magic... it’s about understanding your instrument, practicing smart, and building confidence over time. I focus on connecting what you learn theoretically to what you actually feel when you sing, so technique becomes intuitive, not confusing. My approach is encouraging, practical, and built to help your voice stay healthy and strong for life. HOW OUR LESSONS WORK Every student’s journey with me begins with a conversation about your goals and a gentle assessment of your voice, so that every subsequent lesson is tailored to where you are and where you want to go. A typical one-hour session includes about 30 minutes focused on vocal technique and 30 minutes working with repertoire, though we’ll adjust the structure based on what you need most at any given time. WHAT WE'LL WORK ON I will help you reach whatever your individual goals are. I can help you develop strong breathing and breath support, refine your tone quality and intonation, explore vocal anatomy, work on singing posture, expand your range and flexibility, harmonize your vowels, make stylistically appropriate choices, master proper diction and pronunciation in Italian, German, and French when applicable, build performance confidence, develop musical theater technique, and prepare audition materials. I also guide students on vocal health, injury prevention, repertoire selection and career development. MY CREDENTIALS I hold a Doctor of Musical Arts in Voice from the Eastman School of Music and will be joining the University of South Dakota as Assistant Professor of Voice and Opera in August 2026. I bring extensive performance experience in opera, art song, concert repertoire, and musical theater, combined with specialized training in vocal pedagogy and voice science. STUDENT TESTIMONIALS "This is my second year working with Joshua. I cannot explain the amount of gratitude that I have for his pedagogy and how much he has transformed my voice since I started with him. Joshua is on a completely different level of teaching. His practice techniques are never tedious/boring. Everything I wanted in a voice teacher and more." "Joshua does a great job at making lessons fun and friendly yet engaging, productive, and interesting. I love his unique vocal exercises and how he explains technique and how he is structuring our lessons around that theory of technique. Overall, Joshua is a fantastic teacher and has helped me progress tremendously in a very short period of time." "Joshua is an excellent teacher with a natural rapport and sincere enthusiasm towards the progress and success of his students. His standout qualities are his genuine care for his students, excellent teaching persona, and natural ability to create a supportive learning environment." FAQ Do I need any singing experience to start?
No! Beginners are absolutely welcome. I teach students of all levels and adjust lessons to match your current abilities. What if I don’t know what songs I want to learn?
I can suggest repertoire that matches your voice type and interests, or we can explore options together based on what you love to sing. How quickly will I see progress?
Many students notice improvement within their first few lessons. Consistent practice between lessons accelerates progress significantly. Can I study both classical and musical theater? What about other genres?
Absolutely! Many students enjoy exploring a variety of singing styles. I specialize in classical and musical theater performance, but we can focus on any genre according to your interests. What should I prepare before my first lesson?
Just bring enthusiasm and an open mind! You may want to have some songs in mind that you’d like to learn, but this isn’t required.

As someone who loves singing it was very helpful in the very first lesson to begin to understand the muscles I need to use and the "spaces" I need to create to stabilise and improve my sound. I also felt she responded well to each question I raised, or issue she heard in the way I did the excercises. I look forward to future lessons.
