Trusted teacher: FRENCH: I have been in music since I was 5 years old, I decided to make it my job and so I studied at the Brussels Conservatory (Master level). I specialize in jazz but my favorite field remains Groove music. I also went through a lot of styles (rock, funk, pop, reggae,...) during my years of learning the bass. To get an idea of my playing style, my main influence in Jazz bass is Dario Deidda. I'm very inspired by "underground" bands from Brussels like Stuff, ECHT, Tukan, Jean-Paul Groove, Ciao Kennedy,... Abroad I could mention Athletic Progression, KUF, Takuya Kuroda, Vels trio, Vulfpeck (and dozens of others!) Without forgetting the classics like Parliament, Earth Wind and fire, PUSH, Jamiroquai,... I don't have a particular method. Unless my student requests it, my lessons are done by feeling according to his desires and his objectives. We can very well just learn pieces and at the same time deepen the technique and the knowledge of the music if requested. The goal is to have fun. I have had many children pupils, who approached the trombone or another brass instrument for the first time, as many amateurs of all ages who needed a guide for their path, but also adults with a great knowledge of music, who wanted to perfect themselves and find inspiration to cultivate their passion. If you are approaching the Trombone for the first time, there are NO requirement, book your lesson and you will try the instrument at my place, then if you want to progress you will need to buy your own instrument. If you are an amateur or you already study in another school but you want to perfect yourself or you need any help for any issues, just come by and we will see together your level and what you need to improve. Many masterclasses all around Italy and abroad taught me that every student is different, and a teacher can change your life just by saying the right sentence, we will work together. I have several methods to study any technical issue of the trombone, and a lot of inspiring exercises, we will find together the books that fit you better. To have a proper education, I take care about ear training, singing, and of course breathing and body posture as well, I want you to feel good with your instrument and to approach to the music in a relax and funny way.

My review of Joy's lesson is that he is not only fantastic at his guitar playing but also an enthusiastic teacher that will teach everything you want to know, solve your doubts, and, more importantly, help you to get closer to your musical goal. In my own opinion, he is a patient and amicable teacher that would not mind if I was making mistakes in his class. Instead, he encouraged me and guided me through my mistakes, and provided solutions accordingly to my problems. All in all, I wholeheartedly recommend Joy to all students who want to learn more about jazz guitar to participate in his class because he could really help you to improve.

Matteo is a very inspiring teacher and a great trombone player who performs regularly! I’m very thankful to have him as my teacher and already learned a lot in 4 lessons.
