I am Francesca, a passionate harpist and music educator. I have recently completed my first year of a master’s degree at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. In addition to my advanced studies, I have a deep commitment to sharing my love for music with others, particularly children and young adults. My greatest strengths lie in my ability to connect with people, quickly identify their difficulties, and tailor my teaching methods to meet their individual needs.

I have a solid educational foundation in music, having earned my bachelor's degree in Italy. I studied the harp through the Suzuki method, a pedagogical approach that has profoundly influenced my teaching style. This method not only helped me master the harp but also equipped me with the skills to understand and address the challenges faced by my students. My current pursuit of a master's degree at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague continues to enhance my technical skills and pedagogical expertise.

Leservaring

I bring a diverse range of teaching experiences to my work. In Italy, I taught music theory and harp at both elementary and middle schools. I also led a summer camp for children from underprivileged backgrounds, an experience that honed my ability to engage and inspire students from various walks of life. I am particularly interested in teaching the harp to children but am equally excited about working with teenagers and adults who are fascinated by this beautiful instrument.

In addition to my teaching experience, I have performed extensively as a soloist and in orchestras, including the prestigious Residentie Orkest. These performances have enriched my understanding of music and strengthened my abilities as a musician, which I bring to my teaching practice.

One of my proudest achievements is my bachelor’s degree from Italy, but I am also very proud of the opportunity to perform with the Residentie Orkest despite not yet having completed my master’s degree. This experience has been invaluable in preparing me for a professional career in music.

"Music for Babies" is a course for children from 0 to 4 years and also for pregnant women. Listening to music has a positive effect on the language and reading development of the child.
We will sing songs, listen to music and play with instruments. Each group consists of 5 children with a parent.
Come and make music in a warm homely atmosphere!
The courses start on different days and times. It is possible in Dutch or English.

There are two grand pianos at the location in Den Haag.

For children, it is important to develop basic musical skills through Singing, Rythmique, and Ear training besides piano playing. I use one technical exercise book, the main textbook, and a theory book. Through these 3 books, students learn different aspects of music and they naturally get ready for exams and grades.

After acquiring basic skills, students study Harmony and Chord exercises too. These are useful for playing pops and jazz, and they obtain a deeper understanding of classical pieces too.

Private Piano lesson, from age 4 and above. Children can start the lesson after being able to read the numbers from 1 to 5 and the alphabet from A to G.

Advanced students who want to prepare for competitions, auditions, ABRSM, GCSE, IB exams, or the entrance exam of the conservatory.

The concert is held annually together with students of flute, violin, and composition teachers.

For the ages 1-7 years, I have group Rhythmique lessons.

My name is Carla Peña and I come from Barcelona. Since I was a child, music has played an important role in my life. I started learning music when I was 4 years old and cello when at the age of 6. I discovered my love for music and that is what I share with my students.
I have around 15 pupils of all levels and ages and I teach at my own studio (De Constant Rebecquestraat 3) or at your place!
If you are in The Hague area and you want to learn the cello or improve your playing, you are welcome to do lessons with me!

FIRST LESSON:
The first lesson consists of getting to know each other. This is essential to choose the best teaching approach. All the students are unique, that is why I always choose the method that adapts better to your needs. Then, we elaborate a personal plan, depending on your level, expectations, practice time, and taste.

TECHNIQUE:
Learning the proper technique of the instrument is very important to avoid injuries and to be able to express ourselves and perform our musical ideas in a successful way. That is why we learn nice songs in different styles, depending on your taste (from classical to jazz, film music, pop, etc.) and we combine it with cello method books with progressive exercises to improve the cello knowledge.
In the case of young beginners, we also play cello games during the lesson to make the learning experience dynamic and fun! Children can lose attention and get bored very quickly!

Playing together is an essential part of enjoying music. Therefore, the last part of the lesson always consists of playing cello duets and having fun!

ABOUT ME:

I studied my Bachelor in Conservatori Superior del Liceu in Barcelona, with professor Amparo Lacruz. Then, I decided to continue my studies at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in the class of Michel Strauss and Jan-Ype Nota.
During my studies in The Hague, I did a teaching internship at the Royal Conservatory as a part of their Minor in Music Education. I also taught in several Music Schools during my studies in Spain.
Currently, I teach private students in The Hague and I created a cultural center in The Hague called Pandora Studio.
I play regularly in two chamber music ensembles: Trio Jakob and Azalaïs Quartet.

Welcome to my introduction site!

My name is Marta and music has been a great love and passion for my entire life.
Singing lessons are not only an opportunity to learn singing and something new about music but also an opportunity to express emotions, forget about everyday worries, and have fun!
Through music theory lessons you can learn about the structure of music and also develop some very useful music skills such as reading music (sight-singing or sight-reading).

All students who have a specific goal in mind, but also all who do not have any specific goal in mind and want to sing or learn theory just for fun, are very welcome!

Different options for lessons that I am offering are described below and all of them can be modified and adjusted according to the wishes and needs of the student:

SINGING LESSONS FOR CHILDREN (individual or group lessons - maximum 10 students*)
Singing lessons for children is basically an integrated method that combines singing with solfeggio, developing basic music theory skills. It consists of playing musical games and singing children's songs and those developing intonation, musical hearing, musical memory, sense for pulse and rhythm, all with attention to healthy singing.

SINGING LESSONS FOR TEENAGERS AND ADULTS (individual or group lessons - maximum 10 students*)
During singing lessons, we will be searching for a deeper meaning of the story and different ways of interpretation, with attention to healthy singing techniques, pronunciation, and style. The lessons consist of breathing exercises, and vocal warm-up exercises with a specific technical goal and work on the desired repertoire - meaning of the words and story, vocal technique, pronunciation, interpretation, and style.
My specialization is in classical singing but I don’t mind working on other genres in my classes.

SIGHT SINGING LESSONS (individual or group lessons)
Intense course where you will be learning how to read music at sight. The lessons consist of sight singing only, beginning from the easiest level and gradually learning how to read more and more difficult music. You will develop skills needed for sight singing as well as a certain way of thinking appropriate for sight singing. (There is no technique of singing or interpretation involved in these lessons.)

SOLFEGGIO LESSONS (individual or group lessons, for children from 8 years old, teenagers, and adults)
In these lessons, you will learn how to bring written music to life (sight-singing), how to discover and put on paper the music you hear (musical dictation), and how to build scales, intervals, and chords. This knowledge is needed and examined in every conservatoire and music academy. For some conservatoires and academies, this is an obligatory pre-requirement and elimination factor on entrance exams. It is an inevitable part of every professional music education.

MUSIC THEORY LESSONS (individual lessons)
Music theory lessons can include, if desired: solfeggio, harmony, counterpoint, music form, analysis, and/or other music theory-related subjects. For each subject, we can make a special program, depending on the wishes and needs of the student.

COMBINED SOLFEGGIO AND SINGING LESSONS
Combined solfeggio and singing lessons are also possible for adults, as separate subjects or integrated with singing lessons. In both cases, the duration of each lesson is 90 minutes and the program is discussed and created based on the wishes and needs of the student. (A combination of individual singing lessons and a group solfeggio lesson is also possible.*)

AUDITION TRAINING AND PREPARATION FOR EXAMS (individual lessons)
Preparation for auditions concerning singing and/or music theory includes preparation for entrance exams, regular exams on conservatories, or preparation for ABRSM exams.

Teacher at Strijkdomain (The Hague), Conservatory in The Hague, Vuurvlinderschool, Geldelandschool en a Het Klooster (Woerden).

I was under the tutelage of the great violin pedagogue Mr. Mauricio Fuks at Indiana University (USA) for 3 consecutive years (2018-2021) becoming his teaching assistant for 3 years (2018-2021). Moreover, I have taught young violinists in Elementary Schools, (e.g. Fairview Elementary School) and also collegiate students in the Jacobs School of Music (US). In Spain, I have teaching experience in several music schools instructing violinists ranging from 3 to 70 years of age. I have also worked with ADHD and autistic students with a great passion for violin playing and music-making.

I hold a master's in Violin Performance at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag and in Psychology and Music (UNED). I have an excellent command of English, and Dutch and a good working knowledge of French. I base my teaching method on Suzuki and Galamian methods, which I combine with a wide repertoire of progressive violin pieces.

We look at a song of your choice and study useful elements from it so that you can apply these concepts in your playing.

We look into improvisation, technique,, and more!

I am also a composer so if you want to look into composition then this lesson is also for you.
In the lesson we will look into different methods for writing songs and dive into your ideas to try to make them stronger or to express a specific emotion through various tools.

I am a jazz musician based in Den Haag, I recently finished my masters degree in Conservatorium Maastricht focused mainly on performance, however I spent a lot of time of my studies developing my compositions.

I am offering lessons in playing the traverse modern flute as well as historical flutes and music theory at any level, from the beginner to the professional.
This course, based on more than 10 years of experience in teaching, offers private lessons where everyone can find their unique contact with their instrument, deepen their relationship with music and develop a unique way of expressing themselves through music making.
I teach from international method books and adjust my methods to the individual needs of each student. Taking two courses of the Alexander technique also helped me to develop an understanding of the essential connection between the body and our minds.
