For the exercises, I first let the student suggest his method of solving because each problem can be approached in several ways and it is much more productive to start from the student's ideas. I favor understanding by heart because I consider that memorization is only rarely necessary in math and science. Once the material is perfectly assimilated, we retain it much longer than if we study it without understanding it. My engineering studies allowed me to better link the abstract concepts of mathematics and science to concrete problems. If the student needs it, I can therefore easily give many visual and intuitive examples in order to speed up understanding. The subjects I teach are mathematics, chemistry and physics. Having also obtained my humanities diploma at Sint-Jan Berchmanscollege, I can give lessons in French, Dutch or English. I like to actively involve my students in the course so that they understand the material well but above all that they find interest in it. I start from the principle that it is difficult to succeed in a subject without appreciating it a minimum and above all finding what it really serves us for! In general, I like to start by reviewing the latest questions/exams to assess the level and needs of the student. Then we go through the theory necessary to carry out the exercises and finally finish with exercise sessions together.
