Trusted teacher: Maths and statistics can be scary but they are undoubtedly extremely important. Unfortunately, students often feel overwhelmed with technical terminology and formulas that apparently are of no use. My goal is to demystify mathematics and statistics, making them closer to your daily life and/or area of expertise. Discipline, accessibility, and (why not?) a bit of fun are key factors to an effective and long-lasting learning process!

Trusted teacher: - As for the lessons. The lessons are about mathematics of secondary education. More specifically, I will assist in the theoretical processing of mathematics as its application (the exercises). In addition, I will provide additional study material (aids, schedules, ...) if necessary. - Way of handling. I would like to have an overview in advance of the study material, the tests or tasks in which certain problems are visible, .... This way I can prepare the lessons in advance and focus on the problem. In addition, I can estimate / determine his / her level in this way. I try, in a simple way and for the student in an understandable way, to explain the course in a different way so that this is clear to the student. Afterwards I like to enjoy the results. - Why am I doing this? Math is a passion of mine and for me there is nothing more fun than sharing my passion. Unfortunately, my love for mathematics is not part of my studies and that is why I like to do this as a hobby and as an extra income. Of course I work professionally. - Experiences? I love nothing more than tutoring my fellow students about the subject matter. This is appreciated by them. Of course I also have experience in tutoring mathematics of both primary and secondary education. - Who am I? My name is Arina and I am a legal practice student. I am 22 years old and I live in a student flat in Leuven. In high school itself, I had a traumatic experience in first and second high school for mathematics. I thought it was a very interesting and cool subject, but I just couldn't understand it. During these years I had the same teacher, who did not teach me the subject matter in a, for me, the right way. After (compulsory by my parents) tutoring, my interest in mathematics increased to such an extent that I started studying economics mathematics in the following years. My love for math just won't go away...

Muratzhan - Leuven25€
Trusted teacher: I mostly specialise in training overall mathematical ability of the student. Mathematics is not only about complicated formulas and rules, it is rather something that is simple and that makes sense if you use logical reasoning. As an extra bonus, it is used in our everyday life and nearly everyone needs it as a main working tool of their job. That is why it is taught as a core class in many schools. So concentrating on only the syllabus given is also an option. You may decide what you want me to deliver.

David - Kortenberg44€
Trusted teacher: Mathematics is a field that many of us struggle with so intensely in the early years of our lives. The defining feature of mathematics is logical complexity and that can be a challenge to even the brightest students. Breaking down the really big ideas into small, bite-sized pieces is not something that is easily done. First you need to understand what you're breaking down and second you have be good at communicating it. I am a bachelor of Electronic Engineering from KU Leuven, hence I've had to work through these very concepts from scratch, to a far deeper level then I've had to deal with in high school. As I've graduated this year, my understanding is still fresh and strong. I am also a passionate debater and public speaking enthusiast. Communicating a new idea to someone is in my daily curriculum and I love it. On top of all of this I have been tutoring privately for around five years now and have NEVER had a student complain, or feel like their time has been wasted. Of course the only thing that can guarantee a student's success is their own work, but understanding how to do the work, is more than half the battle.

Gerrit - Steenokkerzeel48€
Trusted teacher: Your child has difficulty with math, physics, chemistry or natural sciences. It cannot process the subject matter and you want to do something about it. As a teacher (engineer with certificate of pedagogical competence) I have been teaching mathematics, physics and chemistry and natural sciences in secondary education for 15 years. I am an independent teacher in secondary occupation and recognized by the Flemish Community. Because of my experience and empathy I can make the abstract terminology and exercises that your child does not understand anything understandable. I tutor students from primary and secondary education to higher education students. From multiplication tables to quadratic equations, logarithmic and exponential functions, limits, derivatives, integrals,… Everything is possible! Students preparing for the central examination committee, popularly known as the “middle jury”, often encounter problems in the subjects mathematics, chemistry or physics. Through intensive guidance I can greatly increase the chances of success. Students with dyscalculia are remedied by practicing the subject matter, using tips, mnemonics and a lot of patience. Experience shows that the way of mathematical thinking in dyscalculia is different and therefore requires a more structured, step-by-step approach. References are available. The tutoring is given on Saturday at my home in Melsbroek (Steenokkerzeel) and from Sunday to Friday online via Zoom. Zoom has a handy online board that we can write on at the same time. It is as if we are sitting next to each other and writing on the same sheet. If you want tutoring via Zoom, you must download the Zoom app and send me the email address that you link to it.

My excellent academic career has nurtured in me a natural talent for teaching. My experiences have taught me how to tackle one problem at a time, and I believe that using this approach—paired with my unconventional examples that force students to think outside the box—I can truly provide an excellent understanding and explanation. I adapt that lecture to the specific needs of the student based on their knowledge and grasp of the concepts. I like to develop analytical and scientific ability along with knowledge in my students, and for that, I use a combination of resources in the form of worksheets, class tasks, and past papers. Last, I believe in the strong ethic of providing feedback to the parents, so that they are aware of their child’s progress.

Trusted teacher: I am a 2nd year medical student and am good at math and general science. I am aware that the first difficulty of these subjects lies first of all in the choice of a working method that is intended to be efficient. I will first think of helping you develop a method that suits you best. Moreover, knowing that without passion there is no motivation, I will be the ally who will help you find a real source of interest in the sciences that we are going to demystify together. Finally we will find techniques for solving exercises that are effective and strategic.

I am a 1st year bachelor student at UCLouvain in biomedical sciences. I give tutoring lessons from high school and mainly in scientific subjects. I tend to organize my lessons in this way: - A theoretical brief recall session - applications to retain important concepts - an update in relation to the difficulties encountered and the points to be improved - exercises to anchor knowledge - Some exercises to do so as not to forget the material before the next lesson I always try to give the person to whom I teach the best keys in order to understand the material and understand what is expected of it.

Trusted teacher: During my classes, I help children understand these complex subjects as well as give them real-life examples to further understand the topics. I've been tutoring math and chemistry in high school and also during my university studies to high school students. As a chemical engineer student, I have a deep insight into both topics and as a young individual, I understand what other teenagers might find difficult about math and chemistry. During high school, I went to the British School of Brussels for a year, and now I am attending my courses at KU Leuven in English, therefore I speak perfect scientific English. I love children, I occasionally babysit.

I graduated from one on the top french engineering school (ESPCI) where I studied applied mathematics, physics and chemistry. I gave lessons to students from high school but also university students for several years. I can adapt the lesson according to the student needs: it can be homework help as well as going over a subject, but also to go further than what the student has been taught in classes. I can give exercices between the different lessons and the student can contact me if he or she has questions or an issue with his or her homework. I can teach in english and in french but not in dutch.

Trusted teacher: I graduated from Portland State University with a Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics before coming to KU Leuven to work on my Master's Degree (and eventually PhD) in Astronomy. I have tutored and taught mathematics up through ordinary differential equations but also at younger levels (like secondary or high school level mathematics). I've been tutoring/teaching for almost 3 years now and have worked with clients ranging from the University level to early secondary school work. I have a unique approach to mathematics and physics that allows me to work well with students who don't necessarily find mathematics and science enjoyable. My goal is to show everyone that mathematics and physics is doable for all! *Unfortunately I do not yet speak Dutch well enough to tutor thus I only tutor in English*
