I offer piano lessons for children (from 7 years), teenagers and adults (no age limit). For beginners I use the Bastian piano school as basic material. I also offer music theory. This makes it easier to read music and you get a better understanding of the music. Additional material for technique (finger strength of foam for beginners and intermediate levels) is also offered if required.

Deutsch unten - I started learning piano at the age of five and was lucky enough to work with the same teacher for thirteen years. During my university years at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg and the Universität der Künste Berlin, I had the chance to experience different teachers and approaches to music. Through this, I came to understand how important it is to find a teacher you connect with, and how our needs can change throughout our musical journey. In my teaching, I prioritise giving my students the tools they need to become independent musicians themselves: knowing how to practise effectively, improving their sight-reading skills (which opens up an entire library of music), understanding their own strengths and areas where they can improve, and building a solid foundation of basic music theory as far as it is relevant for their piano playing. A typical lesson looks like this: we start with a warm-up, review the previous week's practice, work on current repertoire, and set clear goals for the week ahead. I focus on helping students approach new music with more understanding and confidence. At the same time, I feel that individuality can sometimes be overlooked in the process of improving as musicians. For me, it is equally important to leave space for creativity, through improvisation, exploring different interpretation options, listening to different recordings, and discovering different repertoire or musical styles. Ich habe im Alter von fünf Jahren mit dem Klavierspielen begonnen und hatte das Glück, dreizehn Jahre lang mit derselben Lehrerin zu arbeiten. Während meiner Studienzeit an der Universität Mozarteum Salzburg und der Universität der Künste Berlin hatte ich die Möglichkeit, verschiedene Lehrer und unterschiedliche musikalische Ansätze kennenzulernen. Dadurch habe ich verstanden, wie wichtig es ist, eine Lehrperson zu finden, mit der man gut zusammenpasst, und dass sich unsere Bedürfnisse im Laufe unserer musikalischen Entwicklung verändern können. In meinem Unterricht ist es mir wichtig, meinen Schüler die Werkzeuge zu geben, die sie brauchen, um selbstständige Musiker zu werden: zu wissen, wie man effektiv übt, die eigenen Fähigkeiten im Blattspiel weiterzuentwickeln (was einem eine ganze Bibliothek an Musik eröffnet), die eigenen Stärken und Bereiche zur Verbesserung zu erkennen und eine solide Grundlage in der Musiktheorie aufzubauen – soweit sie für das eigene Klavierspiel relevant ist. Eine typische Unterrichtsstunde sieht folgendermaßen aus: Wir beginnen mit einem Warm-up, schauen uns die Übewoche an, arbeiten am aktuellen Repertoire und setzen klare Ziele für die kommende Woche. Dabei möchte ich meinen Schüler helfen, neue Musik mit mehr Verständnis und Selbstvertrauen zu erarbeiten. Gleichzeitig habe ich das Gefühl, dass die eigene Individualität im Prozess der musikalischen Weiterentwicklung manchmal zu kurz kommt. Für mich ist es genauso wichtig, Raum für Kreativität zu schaffen, durch Improvisation, das Ausprobieren verschiedener Interpretationsmöglichkeiten, das Anhören unterschiedlicher Aufnahmen und das Entdecken verschiedener Repertoires oder musikalischer Stile.

I'm Mary from Berlin. I'm a teacher and piano composer with 15 years of experience and also teach at a music school. I also have a bachelor's degree in teaching English. If you're interested in teaching your children how to play the piano in addition to theoretical knowledge, I'd be happy to help you. I prefer to adapt my lessons to the needs and wishes of my students. I believe that the teacher's main goal in the first lesson is to encourage students so that he or she can soon play the music of a famous composer and composer, cultivating a love of music in students' hearts from day one. Liebe Musikfreunde, ich unterrichte mit viel ausprobieren und Freude am Klavierspielen. Egal welche Motivation- ob Noten lernen, ein spezifisches Stück zu spielen oder Lieder begleiten, ich werde praxisnah arbeiten und gebe Hausaufgaben, damit du auch unabhängig von mir lernst Klavier zu spielen. Ich unterrichte seit vierzehn Jahren, studierte Musikpädagogik, Klavier und Cembalo und durch viele LehrerInnen und SchülerInnen benutze ich viele lustige Wege, um schnell lernen zu können. Dieses Jahr werde ich mich auf Erwachsene und Jugendliche fokussieren. Ich freue mich auf euch. Wenn du 15 Minuten mit dem Fahrrad von mir wohnst, komme ich auch zu dir nach Hause, sonst unterrichte ich in der Universität der Künste oder bei mir zu Hause. The talking and theory is secondary, most important is to play and then see how to listen and adapt from there. My students have fun, they enjoy our lessons, otherwise they don't practise and make progress :) It is important that our lesson is making you more independant and secure to play and understand music on your own! I have teaching experiences since fourteen years, I studied music education, piano, harpsichord which I will use for your understanding. This year I will only focus on teaching people over 12 years old. If you live 15minutes by bike from me, there is the possibility to come to your home. I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.
