About Me

I am an experienced musical educator, concert pianist , and accompianist with a bachelor of Music Education from the Boston Conservatory of Music in Boston, Mass (Major Piano and Minor Singing. I also have a Masters in Musicology from the University of Munich (Munich, Germany) and a Doctorate in Musicology from the Free University of Berlin. I give piano classes to children as well as adults. I would like to bring fun and enjoyment of music to everyone.

I have a Bachelor of Music Education and a Masters as well as a Doctorate in Musicology. I have also studied composition with the late composer Earl George at Syracuse University.

Experience / Qualifications

I am an experienced piano and singing teacher and a vocal coach. I am also an accompianist and have done vocal coaching for professional dramatic actors and dancers so that they can get jobs with their singing at theaters here in Germany. I have accompanied singers in the genres of chanson, classical songs, musical and opera I have also acommpanied instrumentalists: flute players, violinists and cellists I have also worked as a rehearsal pianist and as a musical director and conductor.I have a comprehensive teaching method for young and older piano students which include theory and also harmony so that they can develop their musical skills either for fun or professionally in a practical way. I am also a composer and arranger and have written music for dramatic acting productions here in Germany. I have also published the book from my disseratation "the 'jung' Ernst Krenek. His Transition from tonality to Atonality. 1919 - 1921.

For intermediate and advanced students, I teach with a particular focus on fundamental technique through études, and developing musicality.

Oftentimes, as hobbyists, we have holes from our early studies that prevent us from developing later in life. My aim is to help correct that. You should leave with renewed confidence to tackle pieces that have intimidated or eluded you in the past.

Hello, my name is Oscar and I am a Violin and Piano teacher from the UK, now living in Bristol, after several years of living abroad.

I've been teaching and performing on both instruments for 5 years, during, and after my studies at the Royal Northern College of Music. I have taught children from the age of four, up to adults in their late sixties, and I find all spectrums of age and ability rewarding and engaging to work with. Regarding Violin tuition, I am happy to teach up to any level. On the piano, I, however, currently prefer to teach up to an ABRSM grade 8 level, and not far above it.
My musical endeavors, whilst focused predominantly on the Classical style in my early childhood, have become quite varied and I am a great lover of many different styles. I play regularly in Klezmer bands, Celtic Folk groups and I run a Gypsy Jazz Collective, besides performing with Orchestra's, Small string ensembles, and as a Solo Violinist.
Whilst I wouldn't consider myself to be an expert, I thoroughly enjoy guiding people through the early stages of learning to improvise, and I am equally comfortable working with students in this way as I am teaching in a more traditional, classically-orientated manner.
