Do you want to improve your vocal techniques and learn how to sing better? Or do you want to know more about music and learn how to create music and collaborate with others?

My name is Mandy and I'm a vocalist, composer, arranger and bandleader born in Guangdong, China and currently based out of Rotterdam, the Netherland. I teach vocal technique, vocal improvisation, Pop, rock and jazz singing, music theory and composition lessons. Besides being passionate, motivating and inspiring in teaching music, I also focus on creating crossover music between the east and the west.

* SINGING LESSONS:
(Pop/Jazz/Folk singing, Vocal techniques and vocal improvisation)

In our lessons, we will work together on:

- Proper posture of the body and improving your breathing and developing the resonance of your voice to create a better timber, while at the same time pay attention to intonation and articulation.

- One of the main focuses of the lessons is to expand your repertoire, musicality, knowledge about different genres (jazz/pop/rock/folk), rhythms, improvisation and jazz scatting.

- Through the guidance for proper pronunciation and expression of the lyrics, we will reveal and work together on different aspects of your theatrical character.

- We will work on preparing for a show/audition, proper use of a microphone, stage performance techniques and several vocal recording techniques including home studio recordings.

- For your motivation and development, we will use feedback from other musicians/peers/artists.

* ABOUT ME:
In 2011, I obtained my bachelor's degree from Xinghai Conservatory of Music with an Excellent Graduates Award in Vocal performance of Pop music.
In 2020, I successfully obtained my Master of Music degree in Jazz Voice from Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam.
I performed throughout China and worked with a diverse range of artists in jazz, pop, Latin and world music from across the globe.

I performed in Guangdong Spring Festival Evening Show, Xinghai Concert Hall International Jazz Music Festival, Beishan Jazz Festival, and North Sea Round Town, etc.
I've been in constant pursuit of improvement and perfection, and have participated in masterclasses and workshops with many notable musicians, such as Michael Leagues (Snarky Puppy), Joshua Redman, Richard Bona and Becca Stevens, etc.
My love of traditional Chinese music and poetry, influences of western jazz, Latin and pop music would be heard in my transnational, trans-cultural music project.

Mandy is a vocalist, composer, arranger and bandleader who continuously pursues excellence in music. Mandy's repertoire includes jazz, Latin, folk, pop, and R&B, and sung in Mandarin, English, Cantonese, Teochew dialect, Taiwanese, Spanish or French. From traditional to modern, from popular to avant-garde, from China to international crossover world music, she embraces all styles and genres of beautiful music. Mandy has been performing throughout China and working with various musicians from across the globe, such as French jazz musician Benoit Stasiaczyk, French pianist Cedric Hanriot, Luxembourgish pianist Marc Mangen, Latin percussionist Gerardo Rosales, and Dutch jazz saxophonist Dick de Graaf.

At a young age, her talent and love of music were noticed and her family sent her to formal vocal training where she studied with Cai Laiyou, a renown vocal professor from Chaozhou Hanshan Normal University. Her vigorous studies and love of music eventually lead her to the Xinghai Conservatory of Music, one of the top music schools in China, where she studied vocal and performance and graduated in 2011. Mandy has been on a constant pursuit of improvement and perfection. She participated in masterclasses with many notable artists. In 2014, she participated in an international musical theatre training workshop and studied jazz improvisation from Benoit STASIACZYK. In 2015, she participated in Keep an Eye Summer Jazz Workshop which was organized by Conservatorium van Amsterdam and Manhattan School of Music. Recently, she is studying Master of music, Jazz Voice in Codarts Rotterdam University of the arts.

Mandy has received numerous awards for her performances. She won the Champion of Guangzhou TV English Channel Award singing in the “Music Without Borders” foreign language song contest in 2009; the Top Ten Singers Award of the National Singing Competition of Shenzhen, 26th World University Games in 2010; The Chinese Jazz New Generation Award at the “I LIKE I Love Jazz Universal Carnival” in 2014; the Champion of Evergrande Idols TV show; and the Champion of “Guangdong Tencent - The Voice of China.”

In 2019, she becomes a first-class member of the jazz society of Chinese musician association.

With 20 years of experience as a guitar teacher and as a professional musician, I like to pass on my passion for the guitar to others.
I teach at all levels; from beginners to advanced, and specialize in jazz, flamenco, classical, bossa nova, rock, funk and metal.
On the basis of the level of the student I make a program that suits them, including learning songs with chords, playing riffs, rhythm theory, speed, improvisation, specific techniques, transcription of solos.

Employing the voice in a rhythmical sense is not a granted or obvious approach for singers and is sometimes overlooked by instrumentalists. However, a rhythmical foundation developed through the voice is a core element of strong musicianship for everyone in the music sector.

In these lessons, we will practice rhythm through the understanding and utilization of Konnakol (South Indian Carnatic rhythmical solfege) alongside other techniques and approach different ways to conceive of rhythm and integrate it into performance.

We will work on rhythmical freedom, phrasing, grouping and moving patterns, cross-rhythms, odd measures and different 'feels'. You will acquire new ideas, improve your timing, gain independence in your lines and obtain a set of tools to practice self-sufficiently.

"Rhythm through Voice" is designed for both singers and instrumentalists who want to enlarge their spectrum of techniques, and improve their rhythmical awareness.

[For instrumentalists: I will support you to translate and apply these techniques into your instrument]

The lessons will be custom made for each student.
I will work to adapt to your learning rhythm while keeping you challenged at the same time. You will receive regular feedback, advice, and guidance.

I am a recorder and classical singing student at the Royal Conservatoire in the Hague. I have experience with teaching the recorder to students aged 4 to 60 years old.

My lessons are characterized by a relaxed atmosphere and I find it important to listen to the wishes of my students and adapt my lessons to their personal needs. For the younger students, I aim to teach a combination of recorder technique and posture, music theory and singing and stimulate their creativity in a playfull way. In this way they become acquainted with all aspects of music making. I also aim to incorporate ensemble playing in my lessons, together with me or with other students.

I am an American harpist holding degrees in harp from the University of North Carolina, the National Conservatory of France in Lyon, and currently studying at the Koninklijk Conservatorium den Haag. I am happy to teach students of any age and skill level in the Hague area, either at my home or yours! Trombone lessons

Learning to master the trombone is no easy task. It is an infinitely variable instrument, it has no valves or valves, which means that the hearing in particular must be well trained. Solfège is an important part of my lessons. If you can sing something, you can also play it, is my vision. Besides trombone lessons I also give trumpet lessons for beginners. Even then I use the ear training method.

At music schools I teach according to the AMV principle. With that you can get your diplomas, A to D. The latter is, as it were, the audition for the conservatory.

In my studio close to Rotterdam, I give music lessons according to your needs. This can be technique, or being able to present an etude or concert beautifully. But also learning to play over a chord progression, improvising, being able to play freely.

COVID-19 update 2021: Due to the corona crisis, I am currently also teaching online via Skype. However, my studio is so big that the 1.5 meters can be maintained for the 1 on 1 lessons.

Piano is surely amongst the most interesting instrument in the world for a simple reason: compared to the other instruments that are usually limited to one voice, piano uses the ten fingers at the same time, giving hundreds of possibilities of different voicings and harmony.

I am a French student studying in the Hague. My passion has always been piano. I did 9 years in a French music academy where I finished the entire curriculum. I have been teaching piano to 4 students the two last years in London and I am willing to continue transmitting my passion now that I am in the Hague.

I teach piano to people of all age, without omitting to mention a little bit of music theory so that students get a clear understanding of the instrument they are playing. All this in a fun way! For example, understanding and analyzing how modern tubes and hit songs are made is a fun way to learn music without necessarily using a more conventional method. My students can play whatever music they want, from classical pieces, to jazz themes, all the way to modern tic-toc songs, I always let them play what they want. The most important is to enjoy, this is the really key to progress.

Hi! I am Elsa, I am 24 and I come from France. I am currently doing a jazz master at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, after obtaining my classical bachelor at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague.
I have been playing cello for 19 years. Over the years I played in various settings: chamber music (small ensembles like trios, quartet), bands (new music), solo and orchestras such as the Nationaal Jeugdorkest and Jong Metropole (national youth jazz orchestra).
I love to play classical music but also some jazz, funk or pop! I like to play with people, create music together, improvise... And I hope this is something I can also pass on to my students!
Since 6 years I am teaching all kind of people: all ages, all level, in different languages, individual or in groups... So don't be afraid to have a try! I can teach in english and french, and if your level is not fluent we will always find a way to communicate!

Bonjour! Je m'appelle Elsa, je suis française, j'ai 24 ans et je suis actuellement en master de jazz au Conservatorium van Amsterdam après avoir obtenu un bachelor classique au Conservatoire Royal de La Haye.
Ca fait 19 ans que je joue du violoncelle. Au fil des années j'ai joué dans beaucoup de contextes différents: musique de chambre, groupes, solo et orchestre (notament NJO et Jong Metropole).

Hi !

I am Héloïse, a french cellist and singer who lives in The Netherlands since two years. I finished to study at HKU Utrecht Conservatorium in june and am now a professional musician and, among other a cello teacher at the Lindenberg Center in Nijmegen.

After teaching music theory for two years in a french conservatory, I realised how much teaching is very important for me and helps me to grow as a musician. I like to adapt to the student and try to find a solution in any pedagogical situation.
I can teach all cello and singing levels, and all ages. I can also give some music theory lessons.
