Certified violin teacher offers individual teaching methods, help with the preparation of exams and / or performances. My goal is to help the student progress without overloading them. I give assignments after each lesson and prepare regular progress reports.

A course for beginners in violin The duration of the course is four months Twenty-eight lessons for playing the violin first month : Eight Lessons: Four lessons to teach the principles of musical notes Four lessons on how to deal with the musical instrument divided as follows: Lesson 1: Getting to know the parts of the violin instrument, learning how to tune the instrument and how to take care of it Lesson 2: Training on the movement of the violin bow The third lesson: identifying the names of the strings and the beginning of the musical note in the first position Lesson 4: Exercises on the arc movement in the first position second month : Eight lessons: The eight lessons in the second month are devoted to strengthening the musical ear of the student by teaching the playing of the auditory musical notes. the third mounth : Eight lessons: Through these eight lessons, the student is taught to control the musical time through exercises on the read notes Fourth month : Four lessons: Four lessons to teach playing the second position, with teaching to play some simple international notes for beginners At the end of the course, a free lesson is given to review what has been learned and to submit an end-of-course exam.

I offer violin lessons for total beginners, beginners with couple months/years of playing and intermediate students.  I can also teach students who want to become a serious musicians or want to continue their path on conservatories, but only as an additional teacher. On lessons, students can play program chosen by their primary teacher or program, which is decided by me, based on their skills and wishes. We will work on classical pieces as well as some chamber music pieces, scales, technique exercises and themed pieces for holiday seasons. I try to put myself in the student's shoes and thus help him more easily. Every student is different, so I don't just force a certain way of teaching, I adapt according to wishes, personality, abilities and age. I believe in the power of good technique, so my students play scales, finger exercises and etudes. Depending on their level of playing, I choose a suitable program, which we prepare according to the student's best abilities. Despite all the things that are required of me, I expect work from my students and, above all,  joy in learning such a beautiful thing as music.

My name is Michael Shingo and I am a classically-trained violinist, pianist, and composer, offering in-person lessons in Rotterdam, Netherlands and the surrounding area as well as online lessons through Zoom. I have extensive experience teaching violin and piano lessons to students from ages five to adult. In my teaching, I emphasize efficient, goal-oriented practice, and provide a strong technical foundation while always keeping musicality and expression in mind. I encourage my students to develop problem-solving skills that will ultimately allow them to create their own interpretations about a piece of music. I believe that each student has a different learning style and, with this knowledge, I design a program of study specifically for them. Learning music is all about tackling technical or musical problems in many different ways until we find an approach that works for you. As multi-instrumentalist who also writes music, I can offer many different perspectives on a single issue and draw from a wide range of knowledge that serves me in my daily creative pursuits.

I started taking violin lessons at the age of 7. After years of training I am currently continuing my violin studies at Utrecht Conservatory. I have also attended music theory class for 6 years, because it is very useful to have some knowledge of it when playing any instrument. If you would like, I would be more than happy to share some knowledge of music theory along with the violin lessons. Lessons are private and not in groups.
