The world of music theory and notation can seem daunting and complex for the uninitiated, but with a little bit of coaching, anyone can learn to speak the language of composition. In this class, I will teach students how to notate their musical ideas, as well as to stretch and develop them into fully fledged pieces.

Suitable for any level of ability, I can introduce the basics, help with GCSE and A-Level students, or assist anyone who is interested in composition as an independent project. With me, you will learn about a variety of composers and their music from J.S. Bach to Morton Feldman and their approaches to composition. This will do nothing but enrich your own work and inspire your creativity.

- I am a musician from Bristol, living in Manchester after having studied music at university.
- I have lots of experiencer teaching music, I used to work in a school.
- I love playing music, whether it is ins a string quartet, or in a rock band or playing the banjo alone.
- I used to be a DJ.
- I love improvising and I frequently perform entirely improvised sets!
- I love to ride my bike, and to explore my surroundings- I am more than happy to travel to your location to teach!

BMus from the University of Manchester (specialised in violin performance and composition).
A levels and GCSEs including Music.
Grade 8 Violin.
Level 3 Qualification in Teaching and Learning.

1 on 1 Violin teaching and other instrument teaching experience.
1 year running composition and performance workshops at the University of Manchester.

Hi there, I'm a musician, currently based in Manchester, but have studied in France and Switzerland. I did my undergraduate in music at the University of Oxford and am now an orchestral conductor.
I've played the trumpet for 15 years, playing classical music as both a soloist and in orchestras. I provide lessons that present a mixture between the practical fun of playing, and understanding the theory of written and aural music.

Hi there! My name is Henry and I'm an instrumental and theory teacher based in Manchester. I graduated from the University of Manchester in 2022 in music, specialising in cello performance and theory/analysis, with piano as a second study. I am able to cater my teaching to all ages and abilities, and if you have a particular genre you would like to learn, please feel free to drop me a message and I'm sure I will be able to narrow our focus!
