About Me
I recently graduated with a degree in Journalism from the Marta Abreu Central University in Las Villas, Cuba, with excellent grades and honors, earning a 4.90 GPA (on a 5.0 scale), earning me the Gold Degree. Additionally, the academic institution recognized me with the Scientific-Technical Merit Award.
During my higher education, I received awards and recognition in scientific forums, colloquia, symposia, and competitions. I published as a co-author a scientific article in Estudios sobre el mensaje periodístico (Studies on the Journalistic Message) from the Complutense University of Madrid (Complutense University of Madrid), Spain [indexed in Scopus: 23 (2), 2017, pages 709-726]. I also participated as a Peer Reviewer for the publication of an article in the Journal of Contemporary Social Studies (Journal of Contemporary Social Studies) from the National University of Cuyo, Argentina (No. 20, June 2019).
Since September 2019, I've been working as a journalist for a major Cuban radio station. Not only am I fluent in my native Spanish, but I'm also fluent in English and French. I also have experience with various audiovisual and text editing programs, especially Sony Vegas and Adobe suites, as well as with standard office support.
I am currently pursuing a master's degree in Political Science at the Marta Abreu Central University of Las Villas. In fact, I am one of the authors of the book Critical Approaches to Political Theory and Practice in 21st-Century Latin America, the second collective book for the master's program in Political Science at the Marta Abreu Central University of Las Villas, produced primarily with contributions from students and faculty in its third edition.
I am interested in scientific publications in the humanities and social sciences, as well as historical, philosophical, linguistic, and communication research on the media. In fact, my undergraduate thesis addressed the discursive construction of Westernness in the news agencies Reuters, Sputnik, and Notimex, and I intend to continue studying this and other epistemological phenomena in various graduate courses.
I recently completed an online postgraduate program titled "Violence Against Women and Radio for Non-Violence," sponsored by the Radialistas Apasionadas y Apasionados association (based in Quito, Ecuador), which allowed me to connect my knowledge of feminist struggles with my work in the media. In April 2021, I will begin an online specialization in Epistemologies of the South, in collaboration with the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO), the Center for Social Studies (CES), and the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO, Brazil).
Please note that I am a pre-admitted student for the Master's Degree in Humanistic and Social Studies at the Abat Oliba CEU University in Barcelona, and I am in the process of formalizing my enrollment to begin my studies around September of this year.
