About Me

I am a Catalan violist dedicated to the performance of orchestral and chamber music. My studies brought me from Barcelona to Maastricht, where I finished my Master's degree.
I have been part of several orchestras such as the Jove Orquestra Nacional de Catalunya or the Simfònica de Cobla i Corda de Catalunya and different chamber music groups, especially in Catalonia, being able to perform at many of the most important halls of the region like the Palau de la Música Catalana, the Auditori de Barcelona as well as some halls in The Netherlands like the Theater aan het Vrijthof (Maastricht) or the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven or the Parkstad Limburg Theaters (Heerlen).
I am part of the MSM quartet and performing with them at a very high level all around the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Spain.

I am a young teacher graduated with a master's degree in violin and composition at the Royal Conservatory of Liège (2014). Passionate about teaching, I am very interested in the pedagogy of my instrument. My goal is to give my students the taste of the violin and the pleasure of playing as well as a solid and rigorous training so that the music becomes a personal fulfillment and not just a discipline that is imposed.

My method consists of four elements:
- the study of pieces according to the level of the pupil
- a technical work (studies and exercises)
- work on relaxation, body balance
- the discovery of the great classical repertoire

Hello! My name is Ana, I am 32 years old and I am a violin teacher with 10+ years of teaching experience working with children and adults, specializing in creating a supportive environment for beginners and advanced players. I am based in Maastricht and I teach at my violin studio in Scharn.

My teaching focuses on developing solid technique and musicality in a friendly and encouraging environment. I help students build a strong foundation and enjoy music-making. Over the years I have developed my own teaching method which includes elements from ABRSM, Trinity, Suzuki and Galamian methods, as well as covers standard violin repertoire. This makes learning structured and fun. For optimal development, I organize frequent lessons with the piano accompanist as well as a two class concerts per year in various locations in Maastricht, where everybody is welcome to join and support! Because I am always fully committed to my students, I like to study each case individually and prepare for each lesson beforehand.

A bit about my teaching background: both my parents are violin teachers, so this is my world since I can remember. As soon as I started conservatory in London I started teaching privately and in a music school while I was studying performance and music pedagogy. I am proud to have very high-level students that have pursued a career in music and have become exceptional violinists.

I currently divide my time between teaching violin and playing as Co-Principal second violin at Philharmonie Zuidnederland, as well as freelancing in other orchestras like Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonisch Orkest and Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest. I gained my Bachelor's Degree from the Royal College of Music in London with a specialization in teaching and a Master's Degree from Musikhochschule Lübeck. I was an academist at the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in 2017/2018.

Lessons can be in Dutch, English or Spanish.

Playing the violin might sound difficult. Being honest, it can be sometimes tricky, especially if you don't find the method which fits you the best :).
I use Suzuki method for teaching the violin. Suzuki believes that everyone can learn music in the right environment.
It doesn't matter how old you are, or if you have any background in music or not, I will make a tailor-made program for you based on your needs and level. More important, I will make sure that you enjoy the learning process, and you are having fun!
