About Me
Motivated by my deep love of music, I have devoted much time and effort in developing my skills as a musician. After embarking on a study of my first love, singing, I soon took on the challenge of learning and mastering the piano. After studying privately with fine Seattle area instructors, Linda Elder, Ruel Lubag, and publicly with Janet Hitt and Kristina Ploeger, all of whom pushed me to excel in technique and expression, I continue to pursue the goal of furthering my development as a musician. In addition many opportunities to perform at public and private events, I’ve also had the privilege of participating in the Student/Professional Jam session hosted by Seattle Pacific University as well as the Frank DeMiero Jazz Camp. These instructors and programs impressed upon me the value of a community to nurture and assist the growth of others thereby preserving the art-form. I am very passionate about music education and the privilege of guiding others in their musical journey. I truly believe in the special power that music possess to reach deep inside and touch the heart, to initiate or intensify desire, inspire creativity and to be a source of joy and fun. Though I enjoy teaching and playing all types of music, I find myself most at home on the bandstand playing and/or singing Jazz. That's just what I like. It's totally OK for you to be into something totally different. While teaching music is my focus, I need to stress that I'm about more than music. I deeply care about people. I strive to be a good father and husband. I love Art and Science and being in nature as well.I began teaching piano and voice lessons over 17+ years ago. I started out teaching in my home at the piano or at the home of my student. Later I taught as a faculty member at a music school. I've also worked for a company that focused on providing in-home lessons. That was a lot of fun. I really enjoy teaching music to others. I get asked a lot- "How long does it take to learn to play the piano?" That's a good question. My answer is this: You can play music on the piano in the first 10 minutes of your first lesson. This does not mean that you have arrived at the finish-line. Rather, you have only taken one step on a journey that lasts a lifetime. This is because when you study music, whatever the instrument, you are seeking to acquire a discipline, something that will develop and grow over time, something that will truly enrich your life. The journey is enjoyable and worth the time and effort required to keep making progress.
Its so rewarding to watch my students grow in ability and confidence as they progress toward their goals. My teaching really is about you the student. I come prepared to point you in the right direction and help you stay on track. Setting goals and preparing a game-plan are key steps in this process. I'm here to help you do that! What are your goals for yourself? What inspires you? Did you find a concept on YouTube that you want help applying to your playing? lets do it! I'm Totally YouTube friendly.

Piano lessons - music theory and harmony - for any levelI teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age.
I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

CLASSICAL, JAZZ/ MODERN PIANO AND RHYTHM COMPLEXITYThe older I get, the more I love. Especially during these times of immense ugliness and hate, wars and conflict, music- that's always been all about love - is the home I keep returning to. To me, mentoring someone is all about sharing the love for the instrument, thirst about the material, desire to explore new musical paths and respect for whatever happens whilst playing.
Not only we will explore technical paths and understand rhythm under a totally different light but also communicate through improvisation and modal principles. My goal is for you to love the instrument a bit more, music a bit more and as Antoine de Saint-Exupéry said "Perhaps love is the process of my leading you gently back to yourself".
So let's explore together the painstakingly beautiful process of music through the inner child.

John
Professional jazz musician teaching jazz, blues, funk, R&B, pop, rock, latin and classical piano.I teach online via Zoom, using software which allows you to see the exact keys I'm playing on my keyboard.
My teaching method is to focus on whatever type of music the student loves most, and to build from there. I believe that many people give up their dream of playing an instrument simply because they aren't inspired enough, so my goal is to instill a love for music, whatever that means personally for each individual student.
Everyone learns differently and has their own pace and rhythm. I have some students who like to have a regular weekly or biweekly lesson, and others who just get in touch once in a while when they have digested the previous lesson and feel ready to build on it. Whatever the case, I am very flexible and we can figure out what works best for you.
A bit about me:
Originally honing my skills on the British jazz scene and holding residencies in restaurants and bars around the country, I then went on to tour the world playing on cruise ships, hotels and festivals. I returned to London to complete my master's in jazz piano at the Guildhall School of Music, and during this time performed regularly at Ronnie Scotts, The Vortex and many other venues across the UK. I then spent two years in South America learning about salsa and Cuban music. I now mainly work as a transcriber, writing sheet music for all instruments including full Big Band scores. I have also worked extensively in musical theatre, most recently as musical director for 'Jersey Boys', and on the first US national tour of 'Summer: the Donna Summer Musical'. The video shown below is from my stint playing and directing 'After Midnight', a show set to the music of the Duke Ellington Big Band.

Yuriy
Private Piano Lessons. An Individual approach for your goals!Hello!
My name is Yuriy, and I am glad to welcome you to my page! I am a playing pianist and a private teacher of piano, synthesizer and music theory.
Work experience
I have been working for over ten years with children from 4 years old and adults. Both with those who study for themselves, and with those who need help in development or professional preparation for exams at a children's music school, college, university.
I can help with:
* playing your favorite pieces
* learning various genres (classical, pop, pop, rock, jazz, boogie-woogie, etc.)
* mastering all types of piano techniques
* musical notation, music theory, solfeggio
* preparing for professional exams or performances
My approach
I use an individual approach in my work, first of all I start from what the student needs, I listen to him, I look for an approach to help him improve his playing level. I consider this to be key in the learning process.
The form of work, pieces, genres, the pace of learning, the depth of immersion, every question that arises - everything is decided individually and based on the benefit for your goals and your desires, and not in any particular lesson, but in each one.
The lessons are adapted to the age of the student. Children usually prefer a game approach: a minimum of theory and a maximum of play.
Education and achievements
I started my education at the Stasov Music School in Moscow (piano), and then continued at the Ippolitov-Ivanov Music and Pedagogical College (piano). I received a bachelor's degree from the Jerusalem Academy of Music (piano). I am a diploma winner of the Moscow Piano Competition of Romantic Music (2018), and also a multiple participant in various concerts with solo and ensemble programs.
I have more than 7 years of personal psychoanalytic work experience, which allows me to delve into the details of each student in detail.
Work online
Everything is the same as in person, due to detailed explanations and demonstration. I have several professional webcams for a view from different sides of my hands and seat (including from above), as well as several microphones so that you can hear and see both my voice and playing with high quality.
