Nelly approaches her sessions with light-heartedness and aims to make her students feel at ease, working on an anxiety and shedding light on the psychology behind the voice. Her own musicianship helps others to find their own voice, showing new ways to discover and develop untapped potential and creativity. Lessons are a place where you can be yourself. Any weird noises, mistakes, excessive yawning, cracking, breaking and squealing have all been seen before, and probably from Nelly herself! Emotion, anxiety, stress and frustration is welcomed and expected, as part of the process of becoming a better singer.

What you need
A short warm-up (sessions are more focused on song coaching with intermittent exercises implemented if need be. If you don’t know how to warm up, Nelly will help you with that for use before further sessions)
A computer/tablet/phone for the video call
Minimum of 2 song choices (any style of music)
Reliable internet connection

Quiet room that’s comfortable for singing
Nelly teaches online private coaching sessions via Skype. Skype is optimised for meetings, not music. Most platforms only allow for one person to talk/sing/play at a time. Patience is key when dealing with short delays & general Wifi connection issues.

Distinctively emotive, soul-inspired vocalist Nelly is an artist whose sound will appeal to many different musical tastes. From an early age, the Welsh-born singer and songwriter balanced study with music, sang in choirs and in bands, and performed in orchestras and musical productions. Nelly is a contemporary vocal coach, giving online and one to one sessions and sharing her knowledge with others. Inspiration drawn from her life and experiences led to the tracks on the album, “Ordinary Woman”. A mixture of pop, soul, funk and fusion, the album showcases her writing talent for capturing the essence of many styles, married with her own interpretation.

Diploma in Contemporary Modern Vocals
I teach contemporary singing at all levels, having worked professionally for over 20 years as both a singer and piano player. My published album, music videos and clips can be found on my developed social media presence. My repertoire ranges from blues, soul, jazz, funk, rock and pop, performing on hundreds of different stages, including five star hotels, jazz clubs, music festivals and private events. I sing and play to accompany myself, and have been the musical director of several groups. I am trained in vocal, flute and piano with the Royal School of Music London, writing and composing lyrics and music, with experience in sound engineering and using computer software and equipment for professional studio recording. I have had opera technique training, and now continue study at a graduate level. My aim is to qualify as a professional Music Therapist, and I’m currently working to finish a diploma in Psychology, plus advancing my musical education with the London College of Music.
