Due to my more than twenty years of experience as a professional musician, I master both the theoretical and the performing (stage) part. During my lessons I coach you to become a stage artist. But perhaps you prefer to write songs in your attic; no problem, I'm a singer-songwriter and can guide you in this. If you have few basic qualifications, I will also help you on the right track within a few months, so that you can finally play your favorite songs yourself.

In the Poetry workshop you will learn the basics of writing poetry. The form, the content and the theme are widely discussed.
But we also discuss the history of literature, we pay attention to reading, and we analyze poems.

After this workshop you will be able to write poems in a convincing way.

For my poetry, below is a review by Hans Franse in Meander.

EXTENDED

The sun so exuberant and the people
the nakedness of the trees and the thaw
the coming of spring and the prey

of a seagull in the shining river
boats in the harbor and a wind keyboard
under a deck of steel-grey clouds

the people delighted and the trees
on melodious streets and the quay
the glamorous sparkle of the glass

in blue storefronts God's grace
the people one on their exuberant terrace

Somehow this poem reminds me of Marsman in music and rhythm 'and in the floodplains / the horses gallop / with billowing tails / over billowing grass'. Every now and then I seem to recognize JC Bloem's gloomy outlook on life, but those are compliments.
In summary, I think this collection is very readable. They are well-constructed and musically formed poems that sometimes conceal a strong social feeling through a mild irony. It seems to me that the poet suffers from this world, that he seeks the "entrance of heaven." Perhaps the poet also suffers as a Brabander in Amsterdam: no greater contrast than a warm Brabant village pub and the Hoppe café on Spuistraat. A beautiful book, beautifully arranged. After an initial hesitation about a melancholy that I mistakenly regarded as negativity, which I recognized too late, I read it with great pleasure and sometimes emotion.

Music is a life journey that can sometimes be challenging and demanding. Together we can set a lesson plan that focuses specifically on the demands and level of each student in particular. After years of being a student myself and having the opportunity to study with some of the most renowned jazz musicians of the world, I have collected knowledge and information on how to deal with many of the weaknesses we face during our lifelong journey of learning music. We will find the right way to learn that works for you and your experience.

The lessons offered:

- Bass Guitar: on all levels, focusing on developing good technique, leaning a lot of music and finding new challenges. Focus can be on any subject the student decides and will take it further from there.

- Improvisation techniques: on all levels and all instruments, you don't have to be a bass player to take that lesson. We will deal with many different ways to approach improvisation in modern music, based on the ideas and classes from teachers like Danilo Pérez, John Patitucci, David Santoro, Steve Rochinski and Bruce Gertz.

- Jazz and Classical Music Theory, Arranging and Composition: providing many different book and different perspectives on music theory, learn how to analyze music and utilize all the ideas and concepts to create our own music and take it a step further. Techniques for arranging and composition, from small groups to big band writing.

- Music of the world: Discover music from all around the world, focusing on learning the styles, the history and the tradition of music from West Africa, Cuba, Brazil, Venezuela, Peru. We will focus on the rhythmic aspect of different genres of world music and we will create an understanding of the feel of each different style.

Humans have invented three ways of exploring life: philosophy, religion and art. For me, music is the most effective one, as it works in time and it is in time how we perceive life.

As a musician or a young composer you will need to equip yourself with the right tools in order to explore the world of music. I have designed my courses as a practical and deep guide made for young composers and musicians. Except from regular music lessons, I teach to people who they wish to study in Dutch Conservatories or in Music Academies and/or Universities abroad.

Courses:

- Music Composition

Are you a creative mind? Are you ready to implement your musical ideas? In this course you will learn how to compose for instruments of you preference, composition techniques and basic rules of orchestration and instrumentation. I will guide you based on your compositional ideas and concepts in order to materialise the music that you have imagined.

- Music Theory

The focus of this course is to learn how theory and harmony function through a musical piece. Whatever your instrument is, having knowledge on classical harmony, will give you much more confidence in your performance.

- Music History

Learning the historic background of our musical legacy helps us to understand more in depth the musical languages and aesthetics of the past decades/centuries. In this course we will focus on important historic moments when important composers formed significant changes through the centuries. We will discuss what were these changes were about and what impact had for the next generations.

- Orchestration - Instrumentation

In this course you will learn how the notes work together. During our lessons you will be aware on how the great masters like Beethoven or Mozart created the masterpieces that we are still listening in concert halls.

Rooted in a deep exploration of metaphysical truths, my approach to singing delves into the essence of our nature, embracing both its beauty and its limitations. It is a conscious journey of expanding and redefining our sense of being, flowing seamlessly into the art of effortless singing—wu wei, as described by Lao Tzu in the Tao Te Ching. Here, true artistry emerges from inner mastery, a technique beyond techniques.

In this process, teaching and learning merge into one, as does inspiring and being inspired, transforming both teacher and student. We explore the fusion of self-impression—achieving resonant inner harmony through natural breathing and posture—and self-expression—the outer manifestation of this inner essence through intentional sound projection.

This approach leads to the ultimate singing experience, which is, in essence, an ultimate being experience. It invites you to tap into your inner wisdom, liberating you from the confines of rigid techniques or theoretical knowledge, allowing you to embrace your true voice through the freedom of natural expression.
