SAT Reading, Writing and Mathematics Preparation Courses

I worked as a private tutor for over a year and a half in the United States helping teenagers and young adults with their preparation for the SAT. Over the years I have come up with strategies and tricks that I believe can significantly facilitate the way you approach this exam, after all, you must keep in mind that this test is not measuring your knowledge or intelligence per se. It is rather measuring your ability to prepare for this particular exam. Being a Mechanical Engineering Major with an English Minor, I believe to have the qualifications to help you with the Reading, Writing, and Math sections. Tell me what you want to work on and let's give it a go!

About Me

I have always been fascinated by the idea of sharing the knowledge that I have worked so hard to amass. I always try to teach my students that in both languages and mathematics, the only key is practice, practice, practice. I was born and raised in Venezuela. Four years ago I moved to the US to pursue higher education. During these years I worked as a Teaching Assistant for classes such as Calculus, Linear Algebra, Physics I and II. Additionally, I worked as a private tutor for SAT and GRE prep courses for a year and a half and a year, respectively. Depending on your level of knowledge and expected goal, my focus will shift from elucidating concepts to allow you to see what is happening, to lots of problems to get familiar with the material. Over the years I have come up with strategies and techniques to efficiently tackle these science classes, and I am looking forward to sharing them with you.
To give you an idea of my mastery of this content, I got a perfect score in the Quantitative Reasoning section of the GRE six months ago.

Whether you go to an International School or to a University with English as the language of instruction, my goal is to help kids, teenagers, and adults deal with Newtonian Physics effectively. During my Mechanical Engineering Major, I worked as a Teaching Assitant for Physics I (Mechanics) and Physics II (Electricity and Magnetism). In addition, I took higher-level courses regarding mechanics, which created a very solid foundation regarding this area, as well as the capacity to convey information on these challenging subjects. With Physics it is paramount to understand what is happening, and at times we all need extra help to see why something behaves in a certain way. I will try to help you see this, and then provide you with plenty of exercises to ensure that once you take a look at your exam, you do not even have to think of what to do, you just do it.
This course is for anyone looking to improve their skills in the French language. Depending on the student's level of French, we will focus on either expanding the vocabulary, grammar or even reducing the "accent". My goal is to be a partner with whom you can have meaningful conversations on any subject that interests you. I will prepare you for a trip, a presentation or maybe just so that you do not forget what you already know. Practice is the path to perfection.
This class is aimed at anyone looking to increase his/her English-speaking and listening skills. Depending on the student's English level the focus will shift from vocabulary expansion and sentence structuring to "accent" reduction. My goal is to be a talking partner with whom you can engage in significant conversations about any topic you are interested in. Whether you are getting ready for a trip or a presentation or if you just want to make sure you do not forget what you already know, practice makes perfect and I want to try to help you achieve your goals.
Whether you go to an International School or to a University with English as the language of instruction, my goal is to help kids, teenagers, and adults deal with Math effectively. During my Mechanical Engineering Major, I worked as a Teaching Assitant for Calculus and Matrix Algebra. For this position, I served as a part-time lecturer, mainly focused on solving practice problems. I think this experience created a very solid mathematical foundation, as well as the capacity to convey information on these challenging subjects. I believe that the only way to get good at Math is through constant practice. I will provide you with plenty of exercises to ensure that once you take a look at your exam, you do not even have to think of what to do, you just do it.
When I first took the TOEFL (six years ago), I knew enough English to watch a movie without subtitles andg get most of what was happening and to engage in very simple small talk. I got 108 that time. A prep course I did for the TOEFL taught me that this exam is more about knowing the exam than about the English itself. The predictability of these standardized tests is your biggest weapon. After having moved to the US and having lived there for four years, I can safely say that my level of English is exponentially better than it was when I took the TOEFL. The classes would basically consist of non-stop practice of the different test sections. The goal is for you to show up on the exam date knowing everything that is coming and having the confidence that you can answer it.
Besides having grown and lived for twenty years in a Spanish-speaking country, I studied three years of mechanical engineering at Simón Bolívar University. In this institution, I not only obtained perfect notes in the eight preparatory courses of mathematics I attended, but also worked as an academic trainer for the Department of Mathematics. These experiences not only created in me an ideal basis for this subject, but also prepared me to teach effective classes to adolescents and adults. My goal is to help you prepare the best for your evaluations. For whatever reason, If you want to learn or improve your knowledge of mathematics in Spanish, I will help you. The key will be the practice, it is the only way to excellence. After enough practice exercises, you will not even need to think before answering the question on your exam.
Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software is used in nearly all branches of Design Engineering, it represents a powerful tool to create, and represent 2D and 3D models in a user-friendly interface. SolidWorks is currently used by over 165,000 engineering companies worldwide (as of 2013). With the rise of Youtube, learning to use these packages is easier than ever, however, certifications are what make a company believe that you really know what you are doing. During my bachelors I took a class specifically dedicated to training for the CSWA and CSWP. At the end I got perfect scores in both. My goal is to pass on the strategies and tricks I was taught to ensure that once you make the economic investment to take this exam, you will pass with flying colors.
Did you know that there are 20 hispanic-speaking countries in the world? There is way more to this beautiful language than what is spoken in Spain. Son of Colombian and Venezuelan parents, I want to give you the chance to experience this language with different eyes, to hear different accents (you get to choose among Venezuelan, Colombian, and Argentinian) and learn a bit from different cultures, thus helping to broaden your horizons.

Mathematics Tutoring and Exam Preparation for Any Level
A strong foundation in Mathematics is essential for developing a critical mind. The value of Mathematics lies not only in its elegance for scientific research and technological developments, but Mathematics also demands a spotlight in unsophisticated, mundane life chores such as splitting the dinner bill, lending to a friend, or checking and double-checking that the government hasn't overtaxed you. My main academic training is in Mathematics; I received my Bachelors in Applied Mathematics from the University of California, San Diego in 2016, and my Masters in Mathematical Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in 2017. Since completing my coursework, I have worked in university research and I am now pursuing a PhD in Tactile Neurophysiology at the University of Gothenburg. I have extensive tutoring experience in Mathematics ranging from primary school to university level subjects. I am comfortable with developing a curriculum tailored to your needs or following one that you or your course proposes. In the past, I have assisted students of all levels in: Calculus, SAT Prep, Algebra, Arithmetic, Statistics, MATLAB, and Trigonometry. These topics are not exclusive to my repertoire. I hold firmly that a student must bring motivation and that a teacher foster this with direction, challenges, and encouragement. The process of learning is a two-way street. Ultimately, your goal is to be an independent learner, and I will help you to become one.

Even if you are scoring low right now, if you put in the effort and give yourself time to improve, there is no reason why you shouldn't get a stellar score and into your dream university. You only need the right guidance and to study. Call now and I'll tell you how. ACADEMIC ENGLISH Who? For true intermediate students and above. Academic English classes are for those with general English skills who underperform in academic settings. What? Students learn various academic techniques that would bring your grades to a B+ minimum. Academic English students get a personalized study program tailored to the student's specific needs with class materials directly related to your courses. Not only do you master English skills such as writing essays, analytic reading, and skim reading; you also acquire a host of invaluable study skills such as time management, listening and note-taking *the right way*. (Did you know that with the right method of note-taking, you don't have to study that much during exam week? Great, right? :) In addition to all of these, Academic English students also get personalized General English lessons where we fill in the gaps in your grammar, vocabulary, and functions.
