As my profession requires, I’m calm, creative with musical games and have quite a lot of patience. I’m fluent in Romanian and English, however I’m able to have basic conversations in Russian as well and I’m in the process of learning Dutch. Hernan - Utrecht, Netherlands$53
Trusted teacher: The way I teach actually depends entirely on the student. The way I explain the concepts, plan and structure the lessons and approach each subject all depends on whether the student is a beginner, intermediate or advanced, and whether he or she has some experience on the subject. Each student has different needs and different abilities. It's just a matter of getting to know the student, in order to identify both the weaknesses and strengths on which to work.

Giorgia - Budapest, Hungary$25
Trusted teacher: I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

Aurel - Amsterdam, Netherlands$42
Trusted teacher: Hello! My name is Aurel and I am a French Amsterdam-based drummer. Although currently specialized in Jazz music, I have studied various esthetics, and Pop and Rock music, in particular, are part of my background (I played in several pop-rock bands). Therefore I am able to teach a broad panel of music styles. I also have many drum methods and charts at my disposal, and have experience in teaching children from the age of 6, as well as teenagers and adults. Lessons and teaching method: I always adapt to the student's tastes and learning profiles. This is why, during the first lesson, and on a regular basis afterwards, I always take time to discuss with my students (or their parents if they are very young) to figure out together the path they want or need to follow. I will use charts and methods for those who need visual support to assimilate the skills or teach by ear and by demonstrating to the ones who feel more comfortable this way. I also play electric guitar and can jam with my students, which is a great tool for developing band playing skills or simply to have a good time. For those eager to make significant progress, I offer consistent and serious monitoring, with practice recommendations. I can for instance prepare a student for an audition or an entrance exam in a conservatory. If you are willing to improve your understanding of rhythm in general, you can also benefit from my knowledge of Indian Karnatic rhythm concepts, one of the most complete traditional approaches to rhythm. Students who simply want to learn at their pace, to have fun and unwind, are definitely welcome too! About me: In addition to my jazz drums bachelor and master degrees from the conservatory of Amsterdam (CvA), which included a thorough pedagogical training and a specialization in Indian Karnatic techniques, I benefit from 4 years of experience as an employed drum teacher in two French associative music schools (Ecole de musique de Nangis and Conservatoire des Deux Rives, Moret-sur-Loing). I am also an active musician, both on the Dutch and the French scene. My trio mainly tours in France and has played at venues such as the Sunside (Paris), or participated in competitions like the Keep An Eye International Jazz Award. I am also the co-leader of the sextet Chai Masters, finalist of several European competitions (Leiden Jazz Award, Golden Jazz Trophy in Lille, France, 7 Virtual Jazz Contest). Recently, the band was part of Keep An Eye The Records's finalists (March 2022). Looking forward to meeting you and passing on my know-how to you!

Jean - Schaarbeek, Belgium$37
Trusted teacher: The bass is the most important instrument in a musical ensemble, whether in jazz, rock, blues, funk, metal or pop. She is the benchmark for all other musicians, she defines both rhythm and harmony, and she literally makes the bodies of the listeners vibrate. Passionate musician since the age of 15, I gave my first lessons more than 10 years ago. I am an excellent pedagogue, and I adapt to the level of the student, whether in terms of technical mastery of the instrument, ability to read notes (or tablature), as well as understanding music theory and of the theory. I put myself at the service of the student, his level and his tastes and musical projects. I have a thorough knowledge of music theory, particularly in jazz, and a long experience of playing together (jazz, rock and progressive metal). I can thus provide the theoretical elements necessary for the student to fully appropriate his instrument, at his own pace, and be able to play in a group, invent bass lines, improvise and compose pieces. The bass is the most important instrument in a musical ensemble, whether in jazz, rock, blues, funk, metal or pop. She is the benchmark for all other musicians, she defines both rhythm and harmony, and she literally makes the bodies of the listeners vibrate. 4, 5 or 6 string electric bass

Lorenzo - Ixelles-Elsene, Belgium$37
Trusted teacher: Je donne cours en français - Description disponible en Français Do lezione in Italiano - Descrizione disponibile in Italiano ......................................................................................................................................................... The course method, inspired by the Agostini school (French method used in French and Belgian academies and conservatories) is divided between technique and drums. At the rate of one session each we will focus once on technique and movements outside the drums (on pads) and the other time on the drums and the application of technique and movements. -> The technique lessons and the movements will be those of the so-called 'Moeller technique' that I learned through his direct lineage of student. -> The drum lessons are greatly inspired by the pedagogy of the M.A.I. (Music Academy International - Nancy (fr)) and in particular that of Richard-Paul Morellini, renowned instructor. The courses are complete, in-depth but above all specifically thought of to be progressive. They are suitable for children from 7 years old as well as adults of all ages. => Particular attention is paid to the movements and their correct application, to the total independence of the limbs and finally to an understanding of the rhythm and its theory. My main goal is to give the student complete control behind the drums and skills to be able to self-learn any piece in any musical style. 1 hour of weekly lessons are never enough, they should only be used to fuel the passion that will make you play at home more and more. On demand or for advancs students: - I am very passionate about the study of South American rhythms. Due to their complexity, apart from the samba and Baïon ostinatos, they are not included in the program before the advanced level. They can be at the request of the student. - I am also specialized in metal (musical style) and double pedal. The latter is not included in the program unless requested by the student. The double pedal courses are based on the methodology of Virgil Donati. Technique: * Moeller technique (the 'whipping motion' - the Free stroke -Full/Half/Low stroke - accepting the rebound - its application etc.) * Snare rudiments and their applications through reading systems * Readings of scores and exercises for the snare drum * Speed drills * Military marches * Control of the different subdivisions (quarter notes - eighth notes - triplets - sixteenth notes - quintuplets - sextuplets - triple eighth notes - nonolets etc.) * Displacement of accents and polyrhythms * On request, double pedal technique (application of the Moeller to the double pedal as well as everything listed above but with the feet) Drums: * Bass drum reading and independance * Snare drum reading and independance * Applications of ghost notes * The 16 sixteenth-notes ostinatos * Jazz readings and independence * Binary and ternary readings * Coordination and movements of both feet * Dynamics on the instrument * Creation of fills and original drum grooves * On request, application of the double pedal * On request or for advanced students, readings and independence of South American rhythms (study and independence of the clave/Cascara/Mozambique etc.)

María - Brussels, Belgium$37
Trusted teacher: Hello to everyone! My name is María, I am a Venezuelan Cellist. All my musical education was inside the musical program "El Sistema" in Venezuela. I am current studying my Master degree at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel with Jeroen Reuling. In what consist my lessons? Cello classes for all levels (beginner, intermediate and advanced), it does not matter if you have never played cello before or if you are already studying, the important thing is to help you achieve the goals you want with this beautiful instrument. To have better results with practice, if it is necessary to help you with music theory, I will help you. As well, if you're looking for help in orchestral excerpts for auditions, I'm here for you! You bring me the music you like and the things you want to learn, and I build my lessons around that. I've taught students everything from post-rock, to metal, to K-Pop to Nepalese songs... This way the student gets to explore music on their terms, and not based on a pre-decided set of songs or exercises. Alongside this I bring exercises and other songs that help build around the skills we learn through your songs, and help you develop the techniques needed for you to learn to play the music you love. Whatever music excites you I encourage you to bring it to our lesson, as this also gives me a chance to discover some new music ! What's more, depending on your interest, we can also explore music theory, ideas on composition and songwriting, even the basics of how to record your own songs at home. For experienced players: If you are an experienced player looking for new challenges and new perspectives, my wide ranging knowledge of music in a large spectrum of music will help you push your playing and knowledge of music into new worlds ! Topics of our more advanced lessons could include: in depth exploration of the possibilities of guitar pedals, using Ableton live with the electric guitar, reading scores, writing scores, exploring extended guitar techniques, using multi-amp setups, recording your own songs, playing contemporary classical works that include the electric guitar, exploring finger picking, using alternative guitar tunings, going deeper into music theory, exploring genres you haven't heard of (ranging from classical, to experimental, to free jazz, to electronic music)

Trusted teacher: The class I propose as a private teacher cover the following subjects: -Bass Guitar: we will cover elements such as technique (from basic to advanced), groove, timing, soloing, creating catchy basslines in different genres (Jazz, Pop, Rock, Funk, World Music, etc..) -Improvisation: idiomatic (related to music-genre) and non-idiomatic -Composition and Music theory: study of harmony, scales, melody, creative musical-writing. All these subjects are interconnected in the lesson! N.B. IMPROVISATION, COMPOSITION AND MUSIC THEORY ARE OPEN TO ALL INSTRUMENTALISTS!! The first lesson with a new student is always an opportunity for the student to express what he likes about music. During the first lesson I usually propose my favorite music to the new student, and the the student does the same. The first lesson is the first approach in knowing each other, so that I can tailor a study programme that fits perfectly my student. By developing the just-mentioned study programme I guarantee that practice is linked to pleasure, cuoriosity and discover! Regular practice is also ensured by giving the student exciting and challenging assignments, that at the same time are doable. In this way I guarantee both satisfaction and challenge.
