Fine Art/Art & Design/Photography (A Level/GCSE and beyond)

To succeed in Fine Art, we need to open our ways of thinking. Oftentimes, we can feel stuck, lost or uninspired. In this class, I will teach you how to move forward in these moments; how to produce a healthy momentum in yourself to find excitement in your projects and push through them to the finishing point.

Fine Art is unlike any subject in that it really comes from the individual. There is no "right way", but if there is no discernible path, where do we go? I can show you how to tap into your inner artist and create and move through projects with a self-direction that will build your confidence, ignite passion and open unlimited ways to express yourself regardless of technical ability.

Is there a project you are currently working on that you are stuck with? Are you feeling uninspired in your art journey and want some new life injected into it? Is your confidence in your abilities low? Do you feel you are wasting your time with art but you really love it when you are doing it? Are you studying and repeatedly getting similar feedback/marks but are unsure how to take it to the next level? I can help you.

Extra information

Bring a project you are working on, or a problem that you are stuck with. Or, if the issue is more general, bring a bunch of work for me to look at to assess where you are.

About Me

I am a practicing fine artist who specialises in experimental filmmaking. I work in analogue film techniques, using celluloid film, projectors and film labs to process my images.

I discovered my talent over 10 years ago and showed a natural aptitude for the art-making process. I thrived in the experimentation phases where you are encouraged to try different things in your project, different ways to achieve the outcome you want, and to make selections from there to get the best work/result out of your ideas.

I gain a lot of joy from this process and can help others to counteract any frustrations, impatience or demoralisation they may face in a subject that is quite hard to know how to 'get right'. The fact is, there is no right way, especially when it comes to gaining the grades/marks that you want, however, there is a way to get the best work out of yourself to then impress others with your projects. That is what I can help you with.

You should come away from my classes feeling supported, confident, excited and inspired to keep going with your art journey or project. I will aim to take away that lost and confused sensation that can often come with trying your best but not getting the result you want or expected, particularly when it comes to Art and Design mark schemes in the UK. It's hard to know what they are looking for, but I can help you to understand that without compromising the joy of the subject for you.

Fine Art, History of Art and Creative Play lessons
Fine Art can be a confusing, and often inaccessible subject. However, creating and engaging with art can also be empowering once you have the understanding of contemporary art practises. It is my intention to engage both children and adults in creative play, and discussion, to create exciting lessons. Lessons will often be tailored towards the individual's interests, linking them to relevant artists and artistic practises. A wide range of materials and processes will be explored in the lessons, including painting, drawing, sculpture and digital art, allowing students to find their strengths. As a Fine Art and History of Art graduate it truly is my passion to ignite, distill, and grow a person's interests in Art, Design and Art History. I have experience in creating and teaching lessons for students of all ages, from 4 years of age up to adults. I also have experience tutoring GCSE and A-level students in the trickier aspects of a Fine Art qualification, where jumping through the hoops and tick the boxes that the exam boards require can often take the joy out of creating. My aim is to help students get the grade that truly reflects their engagement and enthusiasm for art, guiding them through the certain requirements that can often feel confusing or frustrating. Whatever level of understanding and ability the student may have, these lessons will be challenging, creative and rewarding.

I am an experienced texture art tutor, specializing in resin, acrylic colors, acrylic paste, and white cement techniques. Over the years, I have successfully trained students of different skill levels, helping them refine their artistic abilities and develop their unique styles. My work has been well-received in the art community, and I have conducted numerous workshops focused on creative expression through texture and resin art. My approach is interactive and hands-on, ensuring that students get a practical learning experience rather than just theoretical knowledge. I believe in personalized guidance, where each student’s artistic journey is nurtured. Whether in 1-on-1 sessions or group classes, I encourage active participation, providing clear demonstrations and detailed feedback to help students master resin and texture art techniques with confidence. I conduct online classes via Zoom or other platforms, ensuring a highly interactive and engaging learning experience. My teaching style focuses on two-way communication, where students can freely ask questions and receive real-time feedback. Depending on students' preferences and time zones, I offer both 1-on-1 and group sessions to cater to different learning needs. While resin and texture art are open to all learners, I recommend my classes for adults aged 18+ due to the use of chemicals and materials that may not be suitable for children.

Idris
Painting Tutor: Discover and develop your artistic language
I am an artist and philosopher from Amsterdam currently living in Antwerp. I studied in London where I acquired a BA from Art Academy London and a BA in philosophy from St Mary's University London. Artistic development starts by identifying your artistic interest. As artists, we don’t always know why we draw and paint the things that we do. Yet they are not random. What captivates us or draws us towards certain artworks? This might be the tonal way in which light reflects, structural forms or mathematical division. The point being, is that we all have such aesthetic interests and step 1 is finding out what interests you! Step 2 is helping you express your interests through painting techniques, styles and materiality. But it all starts with you. What do you want to say? And how? I will help you do this through discussion, looking at your previous work (if you have any), introducing you to a LARGE variety of artists, potentially copying their styles. I adjust my classes according to your needs. The goal is simple: to come to understand your artistic interest, help you find techniques to express them and develop your artistic language. (Please note that just because you have found an artistic interest and a way to express it, it does not mean that you must do only one thing for the rest of your life. It is the downfall of creativity to repeat and paint the same way over and over again. Instead, allow your interests to drive your creativity. Let it be the starting point, venture out and discover it from various angles and ways of expressing it. But also be mindful that as we grow our interests can change and as they change, we must remain honest and respond accordingly such that our artistic language can also grow.) Have questions? Don’t hesitate to message me! I can tailor a class to your needs :)
