After graduating with a scientific baccalaureate, I completed three years of preparatory classes (B/L track) at the Lycée Janson de Sailly in Paris, before gaining admission to the ENS de Lyon through the competitive entrance exam. I was also accepted to HEC and ESSEC on my first attempt at the entrance exams. I then continued my studies at the ENS de Lyon in social sciences, with a Master 1 in sociology and then a Master 2 in history, partly completed in Japan. Today I offer tutoring to students in B/L preparatory classes, from the first year to the entrance exams, in the following subjects: • German, especially German civilization; • English ; • Letters; • History and geography; • Sociology. I can also support students in preparing for the entrance exams to the ENS and business schools, in particular to work on methodology, organize revisions, prepare for the exams and identify points to explore further. A former student of the B/L preparatory class, a graduate of the ENS de Lyon, and admitted to HEC and ESSEC on my first attempt, I offer personalized tutoring to B/L students, from their first year through to the entrance exams. I still have numerous preparatory class resources (lessons, study guides, timelines, past papers, bibliographies, and past exam papers) that I can make available to students to supplement our sessions. I provide particular support to students in history and geography, literature, sociology, German, and English, working on knowledge, methodology, and the specific requirements of the exams. My training at the ENS, especially in sociology and history, also allows me to delve deeper into the courses and provide academic references. I can also assist with preparation for the entrance exams to the ENS and business schools, as well as with organizing revisions, working through past papers, preparing for oral exams, and analyzing written assignments. My goal is to impart not only knowledge and resources, but above all, effective study methods and strategies that will enable students to progress and become more independent. A preparation based on my experience with B/L and competitive exams Having myself completed three years of B/L, I am familiar with the specific requirements of this course: quantity of work, diversity of disciplines, pace of assignments, oral exams, dissertations, mock exams and the need to gradually build solid knowledge that can be mobilized quickly. My experience at the ENS de Lyon also allowed me to extend this training in social sciences and to acquire a more in-depth academic work and research method. I still have access to many of the resources I compiled during my preparatory studies: lectures, revision notes, past exam papers, bibliographies, timelines, and old exam papers. When relevant, I can make these available to my students to provide them with an additional learning resource. The goal is not simply to pass on my old notes: I seek to help each student build their own working methods, knowledge and reflexes for the competitions. History geography History and geography played a significant role in my B/L education. I studied this subject intensively through lectures, readings, essays, notes, timelines, and research projects. I still have my prep course materials and notes, including numerous timelines and knowledge sheets that I can share with my students. I also have past exam papers that allow us to practice what the exams are really like. Since the B/L program is relatively stable, a significant portion of the knowledge and resources I have worked on remains directly usable for students preparing for the same exams today. My Master 2 in History at the ENS of Lyon, dedicated to the history of Japan, also allowed me to considerably deepen my training in this discipline. I can, in particular, support students with: • review and structure the course; • create effective fact sheets; • memorize the essential timelines and knowledge; • work on essays and compositions; • improve introductions, issues and plans; • analyze copies and understand the expectations of the examiners; • to explore certain themes in greater depth beyond the course. Letters Literature was also an important subject in my B/L training. I obtained very good results in this discipline, with an average of around 17/20 during my preparatory year. I still have my notes, flashcards, past papers and old copies, which I can use with students to work on both knowledge and methodology. I can help with, among other things: • construct an essay; • find and formulate a problem; • develop a plan; • to work on the analysis and interpretation of a text; • improve the quality of writing; • enrich the references and examples; • Prepare for tests and competitions. The goal is to enable the student to understand what makes a good preparatory essay and to gradually develop their own reflexes. Sociology Sociology is currently one of my main areas of specialization. I studied it during my three years of B/L before continuing in this discipline at the ENS of Lyon, where I obtained a Master 1 in sociology research. I can therefore support students both on the knowledge of the B/L program, the understanding of authors and concepts, and on the methodology of essays and social science assignments. My university experience also allows me to help students deepen their references and better understand the debates between authors, rather than simply memorizing fact sheets. German — especially German civilization I have been studying German since middle school and have regularly stayed in Germany to improve my language skills. I currently have a C1 level. I can support B/L students in German, both in terms of language and German civilization, particularly through reviewing the course, acquiring vocabulary, preparing the topics studied, and practicing for exams. I can also help to create culture sheets and organize knowledge so that it can be effectively used in homework. English I obtained the Cambridge C1 Advanced right after finishing preparatory school, and then I spent a year in Japan in an international university environment where I took courses and wrote my assignments in English. I can support B/L students in their preparation for English exams, particularly with: • consolidate grammar and vocabulary; • work on comprehension and expression; • prepare exercises specific to competitions; • improve writing skills; • to enrich cultural and civilizational references. Preparation for entrance exams to the ENS and business schools I can also offer more comprehensive support to students who wish to prepare for competitive exams. I myself entered the ENS of Lyon through a competitive exam and was admitted to HEC and ESSEC on my first attempt. Therefore, I can help students reflect on their organization and preparation strategy, in particular: • planning of revisions; • organization of the different subjects; • preparation for mock exams; • working with past exam papers; • identification of weaknesses; • methodology of the tests; • preparation for oral presentations when relevant; • management of the period preceding the competitions. I can also share my practical experience of competitive exams and the transition between preparatory classes and higher education. My way of working As with my tutoring sessions, I tailor each session to the student's level and objectives. Depending on the needs, a session may include: • Resumption of the lesson: clarification of concepts and verification of knowledge; • Working on exercises, homework or past papers: I guide the student in their reasoning without doing the work for them; • Methodology: construction of an essay, commentary, composition or response adapted to the requirements of the preparatory course; • Correction of papers: precise identification of points to improve and implementation of methods to progress; • Further study: additional readings, references, knowledge or exercises for students wishing to go further; • Organization of personal work: planning revisions, creating flashcards and effective use of past papers. I can also provide or share, when useful, courses, notes, timelines, past papers and old copies from my own preparation. The objective is to transmit not only knowledge, but above all a method enabling the student to gradually become autonomous and effective in the face of the demands of competitions. Individual or small group lessons I am also comfortable in group settings. I can support up to three students, especially when they are preparing for the same subject or exam together. Working in small groups can be particularly useful for methodology sessions, revisions, preparing for mock exams, or analyzing student work. Sliding scale rates per student are offered for group classes. I can also provide occasional help with correcting homework or personal projects, at a reasonable rate. Courses in Lyon or online I offer face-to-face classes in Lyon or online and have the necessary equipment to ensure remote sessions under good conditions. For home lessons, an additional charge may apply depending on the distance and time constraints.
