The class will be an hour long, divided into two halves: the first half is practical and is specialized in exercises to strengthen the student’s abilities to play the oud, while the second half will be specialized in learning the science of Arabic music theory from Arabic (maqams)/scales and Arabic rhythms.

Omar has a deep passion for the oud, which has been the focal point of his musical career. He began studying the oud under the guidance of renowned player Hazem Shaheen, with mentorship from the distinguished Iraqi oud virtuoso Naseer Shamma. Since 2015, Omar has been actively teaching the oud, sharing his knowledge and skills with students.

About my lessons :)

- INDEPENDENCE
There is a Chinese proverb that says, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” In my classes, I try to get my students to think so that in the future they will not have to rely on others to make their own choices when playing a piece.

- HEALTHY HABITS
Musicians can get hurt if they are not careful, so it is important to have good posture, efficient technique and study method.

- ENJOY
Music should be all about enjoyment. And in lessons too! I like to think I have a good sense of humor, so laughter is guaranteed during lessons too.

- PERSONALIZATION
Teaching is not “one size fits all”. That is why I adapt my lessons for each type of student. Duration, methodology, price and planning are determined based on the student’s needs.

If you want to learn how to play the piano or to improve your skills in a successful, creative and motivational way this is your place!
My aim is to guide you and help you to achieve your goals, the same way I have helped a lot of students or beginners before. No matter if you want to start now, if you already know a bit about music or if you already study music and you want to improve your piano skills even more. We will focus on learning in the most efficient way at the same time we enjoy.

My main characteristic is that I can adapt to your needs. I can always adjust my method to your personality or wishes so that you can learn and enjoy as much as possible. Also, the duration of the lesson will be adapted to you and we will combine more practical or theoretical content depending on what you want or need to learn. There is also the possibility to have both individual and group lessons.

In the lessons, we can speak in English, Dutch or in Spanish.

ABOUT ME:
My name is Ana and I am a 25-year-old pianist, graduated from her master's degree in ArtEZ University of the Arts in Zwolle. I come from Spain, but I live and work in The Netherlands. I studied for my piano bachelor's in Spain and finish with the highest marks. Also, I have experience as a performer and I have won some prizes in national and international competitions.
Apart from my piano career, I also have a lot of pedagogical training and experience teaching, both individual and group lessons. I can teach people of all ages and all levels.

I give private lessons in Zwolle to students of all levels. Mainly piano lessons, but also chamber music and music theory.
Students of all levels are welcome.
The classes can be in English, Spanish or Dutch.
The duration and frequency of lessons is flexible, depending on the age and preferences of the student. Normally for adults or teenagers the lessons are one hour long and for younger children a bit shorter, but it depends on the individual.
