Hello! I am an English saxophonist, guitarist, pianist and composer / music theorist, currently based in Maastricht, NL. I've been playing saxophone, guitar and piano for 15 years and after building a life around music and creative expression, it's my passion to share that with anyone eager to learn; at any level. I spent 2019-2022 touring South East Asia and East Africa playing saxophone in a jazz ensemble, and teaching at schools and privately. Music has been a passport for me to travel the world and connect with such a variety of people and cultures. I believe music can bring so much value to our lives, it can excite us and move us, give us a sense of purpose and identity and ultimately enrich us in ways we would never otherwise grow. Whether you are just starting out on your journey as a musician and you need help with the very basics of your instrument, or you have existing experience but are looking for help / structure to take you to the next level - I am so looking forward to working with you in an engaging environment to help you turn a hobby into a serious passion. I also teach music theory if you are an existing musician but have not taken the first steps into theory yet, or you are preparing for upcoming exams all the way up to Conservatorium level. I aim to tailor our teaching environment to fit the individual needs, level and personality of each student. Want to learn how to play saxophone, guitar or piano? Let's meet up! Want to learn new music by ear, develop your technique, or expand your harmonic / rhythmic knowledge? Don't know where to start with composition, or music theory? I'm open to it all! Look forward to meeting you!! Francis Lessons taught in English & preferred at students location

I use music as a way to learn while having fun whether it is for hearing, speaking or writing. The goal is to learn with games, music, all your passions. The most important thing is to get out of the school environment which I think is far too theoretical and to learn English which will be most useful to you (for example you go on a trip to New York, I can give you the basics you are going to have needs: food, ask for directions, ...)

Since childhood, I have been passionate about music, singing, and dancing along to performances on television. My musical journey began in 2001 when I started training as a pianist. In 2017, I was awarded a full scholarship to study for a Diploma in Music at SEGi College Subang Jaya, Malaysia, where I expanded my skills in classical singing and violin. I later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Studies with First Class Honours from the Royal Irish Academy of Music, accredited by Trinity College Dublin, followed by a Master’s degree in Opera and Music Performance from the Conservatorium Maastricht, graduating with cum laude. With 17 years of teaching experience, I have guided students of all levels—from beginners to aspiring professionals. Some of my students have been accepted into prestigious music colleges with full scholarships, while others have passed their piano and singing exams with distinction. I understand that not every student enjoys music lessons at first, and I take the time to communicate with both students and parents to find the best approach for each individual. My goal is to create a positive, engaging learning environment where students not only improve their musical skills but also develop confidence, creativity, and a love for music. Beyond teaching and performing, I am a strong believer in overall well-being—I'm a yoga and Pilates enthusiast, a lover of good food, and an avid traveler. These experiences shape my teaching philosophy, helping me bring energy, discipline, and creativity into my lessons. Whether you’re looking to build a solid musical foundation or refine your artistry, I look forward to helping you achieve your musical goals!
