Hi Music Lovers! I teach piano, musical composition writing, ear training, musical improvisation. I am Asli, a Classical composition student at Royal Danish Academy of Music studying my Bachelors degree at the moment. I have finished my High school in the Purcell School in London, UK with joint first study composition and piano. I had my pieces premiered internationally such as in London, Birmingham, Rotterdam, Istanbul, Manchester and Copenhagen. I also studied piano as my first study from the ages 7 to 18 and participated in international festivals, Masterclasses and concerts in London, Birmingham, Amalfi, Ankara, Istanbul, Manchester and Glasgow. I have also participated in various workshops for music teaching to young kids and those with disabilities. I also have experience teaching for people in all ages and with disabilities. The lessons would be in either English or in Turkish.

I would give a piano lesson that would help improve the student's aural training, piano technique and musicality. Different levels of each student will be taken into account and catered to the student's musical interests and goals that they set when they start the piano lessons. I'm a Suzuki trained piano player who learnt Kodaly from the age of 5 years old. Some singing may be used in lessons to help with the student's ear training.

Have you been trying to teach yourself the guitar and still find it a pain to play? Or have you been taking lessons and still feel restricted and unhappy? Do not fear, Yvette (she/her) is here to help! With my classes, not only will you learn to play with ease, you will also be able to crack the code of music, so you will understand how notes, chords, rhythm and music theory relate to each other. You will no longer be simply playing through mindless memorization or repetition. You will also learn how to listen to yourself and recognize when you have played well, and when you have made mistakes. Although I am classically trained, I started guitar playing rhythmic music, such as nirvana and the beatles, and I still have a deep understanding of the style and have taught it for years. I aim to teach guitar the right way, without taking short cuts that limit knowledge and development later on. I have a personalised approach to each student, refusing to force them to play exactly as I do, but helping them to refine their own innate technique. To that end, I create my own exercises for my students, compiling the best from the existing literature, and am working to creating my own guitar method book. I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

From reading note letters, implementing a proper form to sight reading a piece, we are gonna learn in our own pace. If you're just learning music now and it feels like there's a lot to understand, don't worry we're gonna start from the basics. I will help you understand music and its elements. With your dedication and my guidance, I'm positive that we will get a good result!

I am a Spanish pianist and composer (MMus graduate from Codarts Rotterdam in both directions) with many years of teaching experience, and also very active in performing in various contexts. I give private piano lessons for all levels and styles (classical, jazz, Latin, new age, pop...), as well as music theory, composition and improvisation lessons. My lessons are distinguished by their dynamics, practical approach and adaptation to the needs and interests of the student. The lessons (live or online) take place in my studio next to the Maastunnel, where I have a premium stage piano and a top-quality webcam setup. I speak Dutch at an intermediate level, which is improving every day.

The older I get, the more I love. Especially during these times of immense ugliness and hate, wars and conflict, music- that's always been all about love - is the home I keep returning to. To me, mentoring someone is all about sharing the love for the instrument, thirst about the material, desire to explore new musical paths and respect for whatever happens whilst playing. Not only we will explore technical paths and understand rhythm under a totally different light but also communicate through improvisation and modal principles. My goal is for you to love the instrument a bit more, music a bit more and as Antoine de Saint-Exupéry said "Perhaps love is the process of my leading you gently back to yourself". So let's explore together the painstakingly beautiful process of music through the inner child.

My approach is rooted in a highly practical vision of learning, based on the educational model in which I was trained during my master’s degrees in Conducting (Antwerp) and Historical Cello (Brussels). I teach online via Zoom, using software which allows you to see the exact keys I'm playing on my keyboard. My teaching method is to focus on whatever type of music the student loves most, and to build from there. I believe that many people give up their dream of playing an instrument simply because they aren't inspired enough, so my goal is to instill a love for music, whatever that means personally for each individual student. Everyone learns differently and has their own pace and rhythm. I have some students who like to have a regular weekly or biweekly lesson, and others who just get in touch once in a while when they have digested the previous lesson and feel ready to build on it. Whatever the case, I am very flexible and we can figure out what works best for you. A bit about me: Originally honing my skills on the British jazz scene and holding residencies in restaurants and bars around the country, I then went on to tour the world playing on cruise ships, hotels and festivals. I returned to London to complete my master's in jazz piano at the Guildhall School of Music, and during this time performed regularly at Ronnie Scotts, The Vortex and many other venues across the UK. I then spent two years in South America learning about salsa and Cuban music. I now mainly work as a transcriber, writing sheet music for all instruments including full Big Band scores. I have also worked extensively in musical theatre, most recently as musical director for 'Jersey Boys', and on the first US national tour of 'Summer: the Donna Summer Musical'.
