Trusted teacher: Music is a kind of magic. Too often we approach classical instruments, such as cello, in too conservative a way. We immediately picture musicians in funny clothes with white wigs. Or men dressed like penguins and women in funeral black. Music is much more than that. It's fun and I'll show you. Music is so much more than boring exercises. First of all, it's about having fun and playing what YOU want. Movie Music, pop / rock songs, etc. In addition, music can help develop important skills such as creativity, collaboration, decision-making, sense of responsibility and many others. Everything is possible on the cello. Let's find out together!

Trusted teacher: We learn through passion. The more we feel we can receive learning, the more it is transmitted through passion. I was lucky enough to have very good teachers throughout my education and now I want to pass on my knowledge to my students. In my teaching, I want to "read" the student sitting in the room with me and conclude which of the many possibilities might work specifically for him or her. I was trained as a classical musician and over the years I also found folk music very interesting because it connects you with the stories and traditions of a certain country or region. With this I want to say that different types of music are welcome in my lessons. If you like music, if you like the warm sound of the cello, try a lesson and see how it goes. You're welcome.
A professional with over a decade working as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral cellist, Daniel designs lessons to suit each student, regardless of their age or experience level. Daniel's teaching philosophy focusses on strong fundimentals and uses those as a basis for expression through music. Drawing from his experience using ABRSM, AMEB, Kodaly method, Tortellier and Feulliard schools, Suzuki method, as well as his own compositions, Daniel combines each to create a unique approach for each student's needs.

Trusted teacher: Hello everyone, I'm Enrico and I come from Italy. Right now I am in Utrecht where I am doing a master's degree in cello under the guidance of Timora Rosler. During my years of studies I always had the possibility to teach music, in fact while I was doing my Bachelor in Italy at the Conservatory of Turin, I taught cello and music theory in a private music school called "Isla de Musiqueros", in this school I had the opportunity to teach people of all ages, including children under 4 years old. When I moved to the Netherlands little by little I started to find students and many many concerts. I believe that playing is the best way to have fun and express your emotions, the work I want to do is work on tensions and try to help you melt away while playing, in this way you can have more sound and feel more free. Technique is also very important in the everyday life of a musician, together we can see the best exercises for you, to help you improve and have more confidence with the instrument.

I could also adjust the duration of the lessons from 30mins (especially for younger kids) to 1h. The lessons can be in English and Spanish, and now also in Dutch! (work in progress!) Each session will be structured around a combination of essential techniques, music theory, and, of course, actual playtime. We will start with mastering the basic cello postures, proper finger positioning, and bowing techniques, ensuring that students build a strong foundation. As we progress, we will delve into complex aspects like vibrato, scales, and sight-reading. In my class, expect a nurturing and supportive environment where mistakes are seen as opportunities for learning. I am dedicated to making the cello an extension of the student's own voice, and I look forward to embarking on this musical journey together.

Trusted teacher: My goal as a music teacher is to make the students able to experience all types of emotions by playing music, understanding the musical process from its roots with a creative approach. My lessons are designed according to the specific needs of each student and the main objective is to guide them in the optimal direction to achieve their full potential in a fun way. Thereby, the instrument becomes a tool to understand what making music really means and will be a way for the student to express his emotions. My approach to the lessons can provide a lot of creativity, fun and originality. How will my lessons look like From the first lesson, the student will start making music. We will begin learning the basic concepts of music, developing listening and rhythmic skills with fun exercises. Lessons will also be focused on learning the basics of music theory, creating a solid technical base and paying special attention to having a relaxed and healthy body posture. My academic and professional experience has helped me create a teaching method where improvisation is an essential tool for the student. I enjoy working on it from the beginning since it is a perfect way to develop musicality. Playing different music genres together As a musician, another of my sources of inspiration is to get to know and to learn from different styles, playing and experimenting with music from the classical period until the most avant-garde style. During the lessons, we will play pop, jazz, classical and many other styles. I would like to explore the instrument with the student in a fun way, growing, improving, and discovering new ways of making music together. During the lessons the students and I could play together, either playing some duos with the cello or accompanying them with the piano, which is an activity that I really enjoy. Playing together with more people and with a polyphonic instrument from the beginning will give the student clues to learn how to play in ensembles and listen to all the different voices that can be part of any musical composition.

Trusted teacher: My name is Katerina, and I am a Greek, hardworking, and ambitious young cellist. I live in beautiful Utrecht for the last six years and, even if my Dutch is not perfect, I feel the Netherlands as my second home. Through my lessons, a pupil will be able to advance their technique, their understanding, and perception of music and their musicality. All these will be achieved through an individual model designed from every pupil based on their abilities, age, the time they want to spend on personal practicing and level. For me, each pupil must be taken care of at their own pace and based on their own needs and abilities, so the lessons will be as efficient and productive but as much enjoyable and fun as possible.

Hey! My name is Luke and I'm a cellist currently finishing up my junior year at Interlochen center for the arts. I have been playing cello for 15 years (basically my whole life) and have attended multiple music institutes in my career- including Juilliard, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and San Fransisco Conservatory of Music. I have also performed in many great venues with great orchestras including Alice-Tully Hall as principal cellist of the ISO 3rd street's symphony orchestra, and David Geffin Hall side by side with members of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. My hobbies and interests include... well... music :) I have been an informal teacher/tutor for around 2 years now, and I teach students of all ages and all levels. I have taught private lessons with kids of all ages and was also an assistant music instructor for a semester at the French American School of Boca Raton. I use many different methodologies which I tailor to the goals of the student. For example, if a student is looking to improve technique, I would use Schroeder, Popper, Piatti... etude books... and tailor the exercises to the student's ability. However, if a student is simply preparing for an audition or recital of some sort perhaps a specific method is not necessary, and all they require is a practice coach. If a student is closer to the beginning of their cello journey and is unsure of their next steps, I find the Suzuki method to be the most straightforward and effective.
Trusted teacher: I offer private cello lessons to people of all ages and levels. As the principle cello teacher at the International School Utrecht, I have a lot of experience with young people and love to encourage creativity from a young age . During a lesson, I like to focus on playing and aim to have my students making music as quickly as possible. I incorporate a lot of chamber music into my lessons, developing a sense of fun and freedom in my students. This class is suitable for anyone with the desire to make music!

Trusted teacher: Hi! My name is Wilma, and I’m a professional cellist. I’ve been playing the cello for most of my life. When I was 3 years old, I saw a woman playing cello on the street, and I fell in love. A year later I started with lessons, and I’ve been enjoying this gorgeous instrument ever since. In my teaching, I look for an approach that works best for each student individually, and challenge them at their own level. Technique and musicality are equally important, and very much connected in my lessons. I approach the instrument with respect to the functioning of the body as a whole, and look for a way of playing that requires the least amount of effort and unnecessary muscular tension, so that the naturally beautiful sound of the cello can be more free to emerge. I enjoy teaching both children and adults, from beginners to advanced players. At the moment, my students are between the ages of 5-80 years, from absolute beginners to very advanced cellists. For young children, it’s important that a parent can listen along to the lessons, and help them to practice at home. A child’s lesson is different from a grown-up’s: with children I do more games, to introduce them to music in a playful manner, and allow them to get comfortable with the technique without having to think about it too much. With children I also work more auditively, e.g. by playing and singing for them and letting them copy that instead of reading notes right away. Whether you would like to learn to play the cello, refine your skills, or further develop yourself as a musician, I would be delighted to join, accompany and guide you on your musical journey. I speak English, Dutch and Afrikaans, and am happy to teach in any of these languages.

Trusted teacher: My teaching method is scrupulously adapted to each student I have, regardless of the subject to work on (musical language, cello, music history, analysis, conducting, etc.) I always apply the Belgian teaching model, where I trained with my master's degrees in Conducting (Antwerp) and Historical Cello (Brussels). According to this model, the main thing is a living and practical teaching, taking understanding and not memory as the main learning engine.

Trusted teacher: Hi my name is Osian and I’m a cellist from South Wales. I’ve taught children of many ages and standards and I really feel privileged to be a part of someone’s musical and personal development. Music lessons can be a way of reaching the concert platform or it could be a way of expressing yourself and being creative, wether it’s a career path or not. I grew up playing and singing where my first priority was to fall in love with music and learn to perform it to the best standard that I could do and that’s what I’d like to encourage my students to aim for too. I’m a BMus Hons Scholar from The Royal Academy of Music and I’m not studying at a masters lever at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

As an adult, embarking in learning how to play the cello without any musical background is a daunting challenge. Hector has made the start of my journey a very pleasant and enriching one. We started with the fundamentals of music theory, have worked through the physical challenges of playing this instrument and continue to build on the right and left hand techniques. He is a passionate cellist who efortlessly welcomes you into the beauty of his art. I'm definitely happy to recommend him as a teacher.

Cello (classical and modern), entertaining oriented. (Amsterdam)
My first set of lessons were really great and I will definitely take more. I came in as a beginner and in every lesson Gala helped me make meaningful progress step by step. She is also very encouraging, motivating and playful during the lessons. Even if at times you just practice fundamental motions without using note sheets, if she's not actively giving feedback she will improvise to play along with you. Learning and playing with her always ends up being fun.

Excellent coaching! The lesson is really enjoyable. Ana helps me improve greatly without making me feel stressed at all. She kindly points out the problems and keeps encouraging me to use the right techniques. She even writes down summary of the exercises at the end of the lesson so I can follow in my daily practice.
