Hi there! My name is Alex. I am a native English speaker from the USA living in Rotterdam to complete a medical research fellowship at Erasmus University. As a medical student at Yale, I've spent lots of time helping patients and colleagues learn and practice english and am here to help you too!

I have experience working with beginners up through advanced undergraduate and professional students. About Me

I am currently enrolled as a medical student at Yale University with years of experience helping students of all levels reach their academic potential. My teaching style is very much focused on helping clients understand the why behind a specific problem first. We always start with the big picture and then dive into the details that make a specific topic interesting. Science, english, and test prep can be complex and daunting topics for anyone but with the right guide and framework, studying can be a rewarding experience through which we can transform weaknesses into strengths.

A qualified language coach with 25 years of experience offers intensive Dutch lessons in a small class or online.

I give many Dutch NT2 lessons to expats and in preparation for an integration exam.
Specialized in guiding for the State Exam I and II. Special exam coach.

In January 2025 I will also start with groups again. We have a great classroom in the center of Rotterdam, near metro station Beurs, lessons with small homogeneous groups (little difference in level).

We mainly go for quality and not just running a lesson. I am really involved in the progress of the student. In addition to teaching, I want to do everything to really motivate students to take the next step. That is my strength!

You can also choose the online lesson package with Whereby, Teams or Zoom in a comfortable way. Online classes are one-on-one or maximum one-on-two, for better results.

My English is fluent, as well as Portuguese and Spanish. I understand the difficulties of overcoming barriers for Latin languages and for expats in general, as I have also been an expat.

Online lessons last 75 minutes once a week for 10 weeks to reach a higher level.

This is the normal speed. Including exam training (A-2 or Staatsexamen) and exam at the end.

Intensive training ? That can also be done in five to ten full days, I am used to giving these very intensive trainings to CEOs or managers who want it faster and more intensive ... all lessons within 3 or 4 weeks. Based on the European system A-1, A-2, B-1, B-2 and C-1

As soon as students want to further improve their knowledge of Dutch, I always advise and coach them to take the State Exam I or II, the only formal Certificate in this country, recognized by employers and universities.

I will try to switch to conversation after a few lessons, to put your knowledge into practice as soon as possible. Don't get too caught up in the grammar.

Teaching is my ultimate passion and even after 25 years it feels like the first time and students always feel inspired to overcome the obstacles.

I also teach you about Dutch social culture, which is intertwined in the course and is strongly related to the language.

Minimum Period 6 weeks for effective growth. It's also fine to help out or watch once or occasionally. Maximum duration 1-2 years only in consultation.

I see people very well how and what is needed purely to offer a person or child what is essential for development, I am an engineer by nature, actually focused in business life on global developments based on new science Artificial Intelligence + Mathematics , but this way of thinking is useful to create something from point A to point B, so that point B results in the expected value pattern that is desired.

Normally also taught a lot in the past, cognitive level method:

Domain work, for example, a book value, for each chapter I make a preparatory analysis of what that domain chapter entails, then I convey this to the child or adult, at the end of that session briefly define a concise learning perspective of yes, what have we learned and I wanted to say and convey effectively, during the session I also immediately make an inventory of how the reaction policy is acting, in advance I define certain homework statements based on the material in a totalitarian way, but determine on the basis of direct analysis what is feasible and what I set as a requirement, what is also being developed further, is always advantageous but not immediately necessary.

Then in the following session I deal with the homework, ask the person very carefully and also make statements of puzzles for personal insight and awareness of one's own abilities, certain homework attributes after a scan where I can see based on the information what direct urgency is involved. I immediately make a copy of the remaining material value, collect this to see if there are errors or whether it is feasible immediately or at a later stage. Make an overview and keep a plot of growth. Periodically I will test certain issues with a ratio policy of frequency based on a minimum of 6 weeks of time, then a short evaluation test every two weeks.
