About Me
I am incredibly passionate about music with a huge interest in the contemporary classical and new music genres. I am primarily a vocalist performer, having sung opera, lieder, art song, contemporary classical and am currently venturing into the world of vocal improvisation as I love a good challenge! I also compose and enjoy writing vocal pieces including a miniature opera. I have assisted children's community choirs and music lessons in schools during my time at university and have recently started working with an Arts Club for young children. I have loved the opportunity to share my passion for music with these young children and seeing their musical and creative development and how this impacts their confidence has been incredibly rewarding. I know that I massively benefited from singing lessons and music groups when I was younger so I am invested in using my education and experience to help others with their musical aspirations.

I am a professional opera singer, currently studying a Master's at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Having performed numerous operas, oratorios and song recitals, I have a in depth and far reaching knowledge of the classical vocal repertoire and a good command of the musical theatre repertoire. Whether you are using it professionally or for fun, I am a strong believer that establishing excellent technique is essential to developing a voice. I work from the premise that no two voices are the same and I tailor lessons to suit my students. We will work on technique, repertoire, interpretation and, where appropriate, language skills.
Together, we can work on building a healthy voice and compiling a book of repertoire to help you prepare for exams or recitals. The aim of a lesson is to achieve vocal freedom, which will allow the student to approach repertoire healthily and confidently without fear of the voice giving out. Whatever age, skill level or intention for using the voice, this will ultimately make singing more enjoyable!
I have experience coaching choirs and working with young people, particularly with Cambiata North West. I have given masterclasses and singing days, most recently at Saffron Walden County High School.
If you would like to organise a lesson, please do not hesitate to contact me via the details on the 'Contact' tab. During the COVID - 19 lock down and social distancing period, I will be teaching remotely via Skype and Zoom.
As well as singing tuition, I am also happy to tutor music theory and academic music programmes up to and including A-Level Music. For young people, the aspects of performance and study go hand in hand and I believe it is important to offer support in all aspects of music!

Explore the expressive power of your voice through one-on-one sessions that are uniquely designed to meet your needs!

Hello! I am Lori, a professional singer and vocal pedagogue with notable performance and teaching experience in a variety of musical genres. I hold a doctorate in voice performance and am currently teaching in reputable institutions in the Washington, D.C. area.

I work with students ranging from teenagers to adults focusing on classical, musical theatre, and contemporary styles. Meanwhile, I perform in a diverse spectrum of styles and genres, mainly classical, musical theatre, and jazz, both in the United States and abroad.

I can help you with:
- Exploring your voice
- Establishing a healthy vocal technique
- Musicality (i.e. musical and stylistic work)
- Interpretation & dramatic expression
- Lyric diction (Italian, German, French, Spanish, English)
- Audition preparation
- Performance anxiety & self-confidence

A student’s learning experience should be fun, exciting and inspiring, as well as stimulating and challenging. I firmly believe that the teacher’s constructive feedback accelerates the learning process. Through creating a positive, energetic atmosphere, and establishing a safe, friendly environment, I always aim to encourage students to ask questions, share their thoughts and feelings in their learning process, and to exercise their creativity. These explorations are as crucial for the discovery of one’s voice as they are for the development of self-confidence and artistic expression.

I look forward to working with you!
