“Don't play the saxophone. Let it play you.” – Charlie Parker

Every person has their own musicality—we just need to let it come out.

My goal as a teacher is to help you discover how much fun, joy, and passion music can bring. Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced player, I will guide you in developing both your technical skills and your personal voice on the saxophone.

I began my musical journey in Verona, Italy, where I graduated in Classical Saxophone in 2017. Soon after, I started teaching saxophone at the Lizard Music Academy in Garda and introducing music to children in primary and middle schools. Later, my passion for improvisation and creativity led me to continue my studies at Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam, where I specialize in Jazz and Latin music.

I believe music has no age: you are never too young or too old to express yourself through an instrument. If you feel drawn to the warm, expressive sound of the saxophone, let’s begin this musical journey together.

“Whatever you think can’t be done, somebody will come along and do it.” – Thelonious Monk

SAXOPHONE LESSONS:
To truly express your musical ideas on the saxophone, you need a strong connection between body, mind, and instrument. That’s why every lesson begins with a focus on sound and technique—developing your tone, breath control, and body awareness.

You will learn how to shape your own saxophone sound and how to “sing” through the instrument. For beginners, this process may take a few weeks, but it quickly shows how musical practice can positively influence not only your playing but also your body, emotions, and creativity.

To make your learning experience enjoyable and personal, my lessons are always adapted to your goals and musical interests—whether that’s reading music, improvisation, or other areas you want to explore.

Together, we will also build your own personal repertoire of songs that reflect who you are. The second part of each lesson will be dedicated to working on these pieces, so that you develop not only technique but also musical expression.

HOW MY LESSONS WORK
In my lessons, the main focus is sound. A beautiful saxophone sound has the power to captivate an audience with just a single note. That’s why we always start by working on long tones across the full register of the instrument. The more natural and relaxed your embouchure and body are, the more easily the reed will vibrate—resulting in a warmer, personal sound.

We will then explore saxophone technique, including scales, arpeggios, vibrato, tonguing, dynamics, overtones, and playing in both the low and high registers. These exercises will give you the technical foundation to express yourself freely.

From there, we’ll connect technique with music:
1. Harmony & Improvisation – We’ll work directly on the songs you love. By transcribing, analyzing, and exploring harmony, you’ll learn how to improvise over chord progressions and develop your own repertoire.
2. Reading Music – An essential skill if you want to play in bands, ensembles, or orchestras. We’ll practice sight-reading and written repertoire to strengthen this ability.
3. Audition Preparation – If your goal is to enter a conservatory (classical or jazz), I have experience guiding students through auditions. We can focus on etudes, required repertoire, and exam preparation.

Above all, my approach is personalized to your goals and interests. Whether you want to play your favorite songs, learn to improvise, or prepare for advanced studies, I’ll guide you step by step.

I believe that music makes the mind free, and that everybody can play—it’s just a matter of practicing and listening in the right way.

If you feel that the saxophone is your instrument... what are you waiting for? 🎷 Let’s make music together!

FOR THE CURIOUS (and the Nerdy!):
For students who want to dive deeper into the world of the saxophone, I also offer special listening sessions dedicated to the instrument’s role in music history and across different styles.

We’ll explore the saxophone in classical repertoire (Gershwin, Bizet, Milhaud, Rota, Bernstein, Steve Reich, Michael Nyman...), and then follow its journey through popular music: Blues, Jazz (Stan Getz, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Sonny Rollins...), Latin, Rock & Roll, Pop, and beyond—right up to today’s music.

Together, we will listen to the milestones of great composers and performers who shaped the history of this fantastic instrument.

It’s a journey of discovery into the beauty of music through the saxophone—one that will inspire you, expand your listening, and deepen your passion for this amazing art form.

About Me
My name is Enrico, I’m 30 years old and originally from Verona, Italy. I began my musical journey at the age of 6, and since then the saxophone has been my voice and passion.

I earned my Master’s degree in Classical Saxophone from the Conservatory of Mantova (Italy) and I've am currently continuing my studies in Jazz and Latin music at Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam.

Over the years, I have performed in Italy, across Europe, and on international tours with a wide variety of ensembles: classical orchestras and chamber groups (such as the Mantova Saxophone Ensemble), saxophone quartets (Sax Fever, Macha Saxophone Quartet), big bands (Dixiebell Orchestra of Garda, Utrecht Big Band, Codarts Big Band, National Young Jazz Orkest), as well as Funk, Rockabilly, Latin, Afro and Pop groups. This diversity of experience has given me a deep understanding of the saxophone in many different styles.

I have been fortunate to study with world-class saxophonists such as Federico Mondelci, Claude Delangle, Nobuya Sugawa, Marc Scholten, Toon Roos, Tineke Postma, Benjamin Herman, and Nils Van Haften. With them, I explored the richness of the classical repertoire (Gershwin, Bizet, Milhaud, Rota, Bernstein, Steve Reich, Michael Nyman...) and learned how to improvise in the jazz tradition, developing a passion for creative expression.

Through both performing and teaching students of all ages, I have come to believe that music is not an inborn gift—it is something everyone can learn. Listening, recognizing intervals, understanding scales, and hearing the colors of chords are natural and fun processes that anyone can develop at any age.

In my lessons, I aim to share not only my knowledge and experience but also the passion and joy that music has given me. I strive to create the same encouraging and inspiring environment that shaped me, helping each student to discover their own voice on the saxophone and the joy of making music with others.

Hello! Welcome to my Super Prof profile!

Let me express my passion for teaching my instrument and emphasize the utmost importance of developing a deep understanding of sound and rhythm. We will embark on an extensive journey that includes ear training through singing melodies, exploring scales, diving into harmony using the piano, and even a little music theory if you are interested.

Our focus will be primarily on honing our listening skills, as that is the key element. Note that our approach to learning is not to read music notation or rely on written material. We want to enjoy it, and if we ever choose to transcribe music, we can take the opposite route. We will learn to feel the rhythm and then put it into written form.

subjects

Development of the sound;
Ear training;
Scales (with your instrument and with the voice);
Chords (also played on piano);
Solo Transcriptions;
Rhythm;
History of music;

We will find your needs together and start working from that point. You can come with no experience at all and I will help you to explore and develop your voice. It's also not important if you cannot read music, I can help you with that as well. If you are already a singer, we will work in order to refine your technique.

Although I have the most experience with classical, I am able and I am glad to teach other styles!

Voice, breathing, and posture are connected and fundamental for a healthy technique so we will also work on that while we focus on your voice.

Singing can be very personal and confronting but do not fear, we work in a safe environment.
Let yourself be surprised with what you can achieve!!
The lesson can be in English, Spanish, Portuguese, or Italian.

Are you a beginner?
I'll be glad to help you discovering this beautiful instrument!
I'll show you the necessary steps you need to follow in order to play that crazy rhythm you have in mind and, please don't forget: "HAVE FUN" is mandatory! You'll learn how to move your limbs to play a nice drum groove, you'll discover the rudiments on the snare-drum which later you will start apply to the drumset. You will learn to recognize which instruments in the drumset makes you fall in love for the drum beat of your favorite tune. Also you will learn how to read rhythm and a drum score! Very soon you'll be playing along your favorite song!Let's get it started!!!

Have you played for a while and you would like to improve your skills and to learn new rhythms?
Good!I'll do my best to help you improving your actual skills. Together, we'll look at the diverse hand and foot techniques exist as tools to improve our own sound on the drumset. Remember that it's not about speed, but awareness of our gestures and how these can influence the sound we won't project through this marvellous instrument. Have you ever heard of "Finger Control", Moeller Technique", "Push and Pulll", "Heel-Toe Technique"?
Probably your tired of the usual 4/4 rock drum beat and you would like to learn more spicy drum grooves...well I can show you very nice drum beat influenced by latin music. You could find very fun and interesting excercies for improving your coordination while learing intriguing drum beats!But also...you are a fan of progressive music but you're having troubles playing that weird odd-meter...I'll show you how simple and easy can be to play that 5/8!

Do you have a solid rhythmic fundation and you want to get in touch with Jazz or Latin music?
Learning a language, especially if you are not a mother-tongue, is very hard. Generally I believe that to learn how to express yourself through your instrument is a life-long learning process. For this reason don't worry and keep having fun every day!I've left the harbour for this journey some years ago and I still see the line of the horizon very far...Why don't you get on my boat?
I can show you the first steps you need to take for applying your technical skills and coordination in these styles. We can listening to recordings and to check how the drummer accompanies his band mates, how he expresses his solo ideas. We can transcribe comping ideas, solo ideas, and of course I'll show the approach I use to learn and to digest this information to make it mine. I'm really looking forward to your questions and to discover new recordings with you!

Hey there! My name is Yorgos and I am a guitar performer and instructor. Originating from Greece I embarked on musical journey to the Netherlands because of its reach musical scene. For the past eleven years I have been pursuing my musical career in the city of Rotterdam and have been teaching in various musical styles and ages.

At the age of fourteen, I picked up a guitar, and two decades later, it feels like an extension of my soul. With over twenty years of experience strumming and shaping melodies, I’ve spent eleven of those years sharing my passion as a private instructor and performer. My musical journey has led me to teach a diverse range of students—from seven-year-olds to adults—covering everything from the pop and blues to the soulful depths of rock, jazz, funk, and folk.
During my studies at the Royal Conservatory I learned the how work with the basics of the Kodaly solmisation system and In addition I taught ensemble lessons at the International School of The Hague. Further on, I got the opportunity to develop my knowledge on music theory, and gained experience with rhythmic, melodic solfège and sightreading.

These are topics I always like to include in my lessons, because I find them very important not only for the personal growth of each musician, but also for the deeper connection they create between the musician and the instrument.
Finally, even though I like incorporating all the elements mentioned above into my lessons I foremost focus on tailoring the lessons around the needs of every student and helping in any way I can their growth of musical curiosity.
I am looking forward to hearing from you and exploring the vast and beautiful world of music together!
