Rose is a classical cellist from Australia with extensive teaching experience and cello performance qualifications. She is currently studying her Master's in Cello Performance at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien. Rose has worked as a private cello teacher since 2014. In 2019 she was the Residential Music Tutor at Janet Clarke Hall, the University of Melbourne, and in the same year completed her Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree in Cello Performance, graduating with First Class Honours from the University of Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. In 2020 she was a Lead Teaching Artist with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra's outreach program, and in 2021 she relocated to Vienna to pursue her Master's degree at the MDW. Hello everyone I'm Giorgos and i teach classical guitar! I the past, the guitar was considered a very royal instrument and is still considered one of the most widely used instruments to accompany with. The repertoire and possibilities are huge, and i like to structure my lessons based on what you like to listen to and to play. I've been teaching for a long time and i'm very comfortable with it, and i enjoy seeing people get passionate about the instrument. It's a great hobby and a great calling to follow! Depending on your knowledge level, you will learn how to play chords, basic pieces, technique exercises and etudes to forward your technique, right hand technique and rasgueados (special spanish flamenco "fan" strumming), and also you'll learn how to correctly read a score, we'll talk about scales and music theory, so as to not only learn to play the pieces, but also hear music in a different way with deeper understanding. I specialized in contemporary music composition in Bucharest, Birmingham and Paris having finished with honors my Bachelor, my Master and my Doctorate degree in this field. I also have a pedagogical degree and 2 years of experience in which I taught music composition, musical forms, poliphony, orchestration, music theory and solfege at the National University of Music from Bucharest. I am now doing a 2nd Master in Film Music Composition at the ZHdK. This class is for both beginners who want to compose music as a hobby and to aspiring professional composers. The main topic of my doctoral thesis was the compositional idea and the processes involved in the creative undertakings. How does one reach the final stage of a composition from just a few ideas? How can we improve this endeavour? What strategies and techniques are needed in order to do that? The class will be customized for each student so in order to achieve a certain objective in music composition the lessons can include elements of music theory, harmony, poliphony, orchestration, improvisation, music notation (Finale) and music production (StudioOne). Although solfege and improvisation are extremely useful (I dare say even indispensable) for a professional composer, they can also be means to an end for passionate music lovers. Solfege and strategies that come with it can help your singing and music sight reading. And improvisation is such a fun and relaxing activity that I think everybody should do it!
