Trusted teacher: My name is Jeanne, 2nd year student at the London School of Economics (LES) in Geography and Economics. I am currently based in France due to the covid situation. Bilingual but originally French, I lived in the UK for three years in my childhood, before joining an international school when back in France. I then pursued my studies in the UK. I obtained the highest honors in my French baccalaureate with international option (OIB, mention TB). I, therefore, speak English and French fluently and have always enjoyed taking and teaching the languages. I have throughout the years used my fluency in both languages to teach children. I have joined the 'tutoring London' team this year, tutoring UK natives in advanced French. I particularly helped a family whose children wished to join the French primary school in London. They had the French basics but needed to be more fluent, I, therefore, helped them reach the respective levels of French required to join classes in each age group (CE2, CE1 and GS). When I was in France, I tutored children in English, teaching them the basics of the language. Despite not having an official teaching diploma, I passed my OIB Baccalaureate mention TB, and obtained the highest score at the TEOFL, which proves my fluency. I am therefore used to both help out with homework, and deliver prepared language classes. I enjoy teaching and seeing my students better themselves throughout classes. I start my classes depending on the requirements of the child, to try and meet the day's expectations. I do not hesitate to spend a lot of time on particular topics if the child is finding it difficult. Always listening to the child, I acknowledge there are days where desire and attention might be lesser than usual. I often use PowerPoint to have coherent class support. Aligning a theoretical class followed by exercises, I try to be demanding but fun, so as not to lose the student. I often review the notions studied previously at the beginning of the next class, so as to see if the student has remembered what he has been taught. I have also given a lot of babysitting, and I think my young age, my energy and my experience with children make it easier for me to understand them and teach in a fun but rigorous manner.

EN: These conversation classes will be based on a personalized approach since it is about you and your level. I will ask you what you would like to learn or improve in particular, the subjects that interest you, the motivations behind these conversation classes, etc. in order to be able to establish the most appropriate way for you to improve your English. Through a meeting at your home, mine or in a public place of your choice, I will assess your level, then, by studying your profile and interests, I will send you articles to read, films to watch, artist biographies or works of art to study for example, so that we can discuss them in the next lesson. I can also provide translation work from French to English (vice-versa) and can prepare you for a possible interview if you wish. English is an easy language to learn, especially when starting from French, which is much more complex. Conversation is precisely what helps you relax from the awkwardness you might feel when you're uncomfortable with a foreign language. Remember that the most important thing at the beginning isn't the accent, but being able to communicate your ideas. From this first step, comes perfection. My lessons will not take place without any judgment of your initial level, whatever it may be: we all start one day! I guarantee real progress quickly. I look forward to meeting you! IN: These conversation classes will be based on a personalized approach, it is about you and your own level. I will be attentive to what your aims are, the topics that are of interest to you, the motivations behind these lessons and so forth, in order to establish the most relevant way for you to perfect your English. Through a first meeting, I will assess your level and then, through an in-depth analysis of your profile, I will send you articles to read, films to watch, artists' biographies or art pieces to study for example, that we could discuss during the following classes. I can also provide translation work from French to English (vice versa) and can prepare you for a possible interview. English is an accessible language, certainly not as complex as French. The main purpose of these conversation classes is to relax and free oneself from the sense of judgment one can feel when not fully confident with the language. You must remember that the most important thing is not the accent, but to succeed in communicating your ideas. Once this first milestone is reached, then comes the improvement of your accent. My lessons will happen organically, without any preconceptions regarding your initial level, whatever that may be: we all have to start somewhere! With a little patience and stamina, I guarantee your real progress quickly. I look forward to meeting you soon!
