Modern Approach to Songwriting, Singing, and Piano

Let's have a modern fun approach to singing/songwriting/piano! Hi, I'm Elena, and am a Pop Singer/Songwriter and have written for many other artists with songs that landed on the Billboard Dance Club Charts.

I'm a graduate of Berklee College of Music where I studied piano performance, songwriting, and music business. I love helping people find their creativity, teaching in a way that is FUN and applies to the student's goals, and also showing people how to practice efficiently!

My lessons can include:
-Singing (beginners, intermediate, singing to learn your own songs, singing to find your own voice)
- Songwriting (learning to write your own radio hit or alternative songs, maybe you've always had lyrics or melodies but want to know how to progress them? Or for intermediate songwriters, let's edit and strengthen your current songs and take them to the next level)
- Piano (Classical/Pop) - All levels, perhaps you want to efficiently train for an exam, or learn basic chords for your songs, start from scratch, or master your favorite classical or pop piece of music!
- Music technology, Basic Production, music industry mentorship, and theory classes!

Whether you're preparing for an exam or wanting to learn, improve, and discover music, we can tailor classes exactly to your interests and needs.

About Me

A modern fun approach to singing, songwriting, and piano. I'm Elena; a current pop Singer/Songwriter and recording artist. I've landed on multiple New Music Friday Playlists and Billboard Dance Club Charts, reached #2 on Canada Radio in 2021 with my single "Build a Ship", and received radio play worldwide. Besides my own artistry, my passion for coaching others to find their authentic voice has me working between New York, London, and LA. I'm currently based in London and do in-person lessons here, but travel every few weeks and offer remote classes during those times.

We will get along if you're looking for a teacher to hold customized space for you to find your own voice and create authentic music. I work with songwriting students (all ages) and teach music THROUGH the student's writing and passion. Students learn and internalize information rapidly when it's taught via songs and genres they're excited about, so I craft the curriculum to each student's interests.

Specialties:
Singers who don't feel like good singers. I grew up thinking I had a terrible voice, always felt strained when I sang, and no vocal coaching changed anything. I finally discovered Somatic Voicework which focuses on vocal science and physical awareness, and it brought out my powerful voice, a nice tone, and the ability to sing in ways I've never done before. I've coached many students in this same method and continue to witness incredible results.

Songwriting. For those starting as a brand new writer, those who have songs but need help learning about structure/lyrics/melodies, those who write regularly and want to improve overall, or those ready to release their music on Spotify and iTunes.

Piano. All levels. Learn basic chords for your songs, master your favourite classic or pop piece of music, or train rigorously with a classical method.

Additionally: Music theory, ear-training, basic production, artist branding & marketing, preparing songs for release on Spotify and iTunes.

Due to limited time I have to be selective and want to ensure I'm a good match to work with the student. Please message regarding your or your child's musical level, goals, and aspirations to decide if we are compatible. All levels welcome.

REVIEWS:
"I am currently working with Elena on songwriting and singing. I was really nervous about going into my first lesson, but right away Elena calmed my nerves with her personable attitude, professionalism, and vast knowledge. Elena really works to personalize the lessons to highlight the students strengths and also their desires. I told Elena about the musicians I liked and what lyrics from them I admired, and she was able to put into words the feelings they gave me and how to emulate them. Songwriting is really hard to teach because there is not a formula necessarily, but Elena created steps that I could follow which has allowed me to maintain my creativity without feeling super overwhelmed. Elena creates a really safe environment where you're able to explore and create without feeling pressured. She has allowed me to meet a whole new songwriter side to myself that I do not know when I would have found without her."

Natasha, Songwriting student

"My kids have been doing lessons with Elena for a few months now. They are 10 and 14 years old. So naturally my life is hectic and scheduling can sometimes be a hassle. Besides Elena being super sweet, she is very understanding and flexible when scheduling for the kids. The girls really enjoy their sessions with her and she gives them good feedback and "homework" to do. Thanks for dealing with my crazy schedule Elena!!"

Piano and vocal - singing teacher. All levels are acceptable! We will achieve any level you want
I finished a music school and my speciality was the piano. I did an expanded course that lasted 13 years, 3-4 times per week and, of course, all included : sight reading, notation, music theory etc. Since 7 years old, I went to several national piano competitions all around the world every year until I was accepted at the British and Irish Modern Music Institute. There, I’m studying vocals and music industry in general. I won a lot of first, second, grand prices as marks of my achievements. I’m from Lithuania, I was working there as a private piano and singing teacher for a couple of years. During a gap year I took, I was teaching as well. My mum is a piano teacher, I was in this sphere for all my life. As I was teaching, I had international students from Germany and Italy. It makes me experienced in English language teaching. If you have any questions, I’m ready to answer and to teach you how to play from any level to any level you want. Klodele

Vocal and piano lessons with a professional opera singer and music teacher in London
Dear parents and students, welcome to my profile! I am a professional opera singer who has performed in theatres and concerts in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Greece, Romania, and Hong Kong, has won international vocal competitions, been an adjudicator in vocal competitions, and given vocal masterclasses in secondary schools. Currently, I am an official singing and piano teacher at an arts school in London, where my classes are always fully booked. I have always enjoyed teaching and can teach a wide range of repertoire in English, German, French and Italian. As a private singing teacher, all my students have won local and international competitions, and obtained excellent results in their exams. Some of them even decided to choose music and opera as their future careers. Yet, I see many more responsibilities being a teacher. Besides sharing knowledge and experience with my students, I am also the person who: - enlightens my students through their journey of music; - my students can rely on and talk to; - influences them to embrace differences and be kind; - makes them aware of their values and proud of themselves. I want to be my students' friend and teach them with a humble and empathetic heart. My students like sharing their stories and ideas with me outside the lessons, sometimes about books, sometimes about philosophy, sometimes about the world, sometimes about the industry, sometimes about anything in life. I always make time for my students. Besides singing, I have been a pianist and piano teacher for 13 years. I am usually the accompanist for my students in their competitions and exams. My qualifications are as follows: The Chinese University of Hong Kong Bachelor of Arts (Music) Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel Master of Music (Classical Singing) Postgraduate in Classical Singing Licentiate Trinity College London Vocal Performance 97/100 Distinction Licentiate Trinity College London Piano Performance 90/100 Distinction DipABRSM Piano ABRSM Grade 8 Music Theory I can give both face-to-face and online lessons. Piano and music theory/composition lessons for beginners/intermediates
I am a composer/pianist currently studying at Royal College of Music. I started studying music at quite young, but never found my passion in it until my late teenage years. Now music is such an integral part of my life and well being, and I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and experiences to support others on their musical journeys. As a teacher I am very flexible and can adapt to how you want to learn, I also take a creative approach to teaching piano so that my students develop their musicianship and composition skills while learning the piano. As a composer, I always bring elements of music theory and composition into my piano teaching, so that my students can develop their musicianship and creativity while improving their piano playing skills. My teaching philosophy is that the most important aspect of learning music is to find one’s interest and passion in it, and my goal as a teacher is to support my students and help them find their passion in music; However, I am familiar with the ABRSM examinations and have a Grade 8 certificate myself, and I always tailor my lessons to different students based on what they are looking for.

Making Music in Ableton Live for Beginners and Intermediates
Ableton Live is a powerful production tool used by some of the top producers in the world, but the opportunity to learn how to compose using it is something very few producers learn. This class focusses on understanding and implementing various production techniques using Ableton and could even help you produce like your favourite artist! Prior knowledge of music/instruments is helpful but not necessary.

Ana
Violin/Viola; Baroque Violin/Viola; Singing; Piano
.......Ana is also passionate about teaching. She was the baroque strings coach at the inaugural edition of the Novi Sad Baroque Academy, where she presented a mixture of teaching methods incorporated with historically informed performance practice. In October of 2021 she joined the Herne Hill Music Studio in London as one of their tutors. She enjoys teaching students of all levels and ages, and is always willing to exchange knowledge, seeking new exciting and productive ways of learning. She has explored educational psychology, as well as Feldenkrais and Alexander Technique, visualization and different teaching schools. Having studied 2nd-study piano at her music college as a compulsory requirement, she is able to guide children to take ABRSM graded piano music exams too. The students’ happiness, acquisition of new knowledge and musical improvement are the most important things to her. Diana Cummings, the LRAM programme supervisor at the Royal Academy of Music in London, said: “Ana gave a detailed and very well-presented analysis of the baroque viola, the comparison with modern viola and how it could be taught. You have a very analytical mind and think through all the elements of teaching effectively and constructively. You are a most promising teacher, and you are exploring your potential with great enthusiasm. Well done.” ...

Music Tutoring - Theory, Composition, History, and Technology
I specialise in tutoring music from beginner level to secondary school, having taught in the classroom up to IB and A Level music. I have taught composition and music technology coursework in these higher level studies and have had students attain a place at Oxford University to read music. No matter if you are a performer, composer, or academic musician, a solid grasp on music theory is extremely important. I have taught theory from beginner to advanced level and can tailor lessons to specific needs. I am a freelance composer and producer outside of tutoring and love to provide lessons for those who share the same enthusiasm for this creative process. The focus will be on honing composition and production techniques and refining the musical language of the artist. Even for beginner-entry creators, learning this at the start would be excellent for development.

Voice Teaching (Classical and Musical Theatre) All levels
I am a professional opera singer, currently studying a Master's at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Having performed numerous operas, oratorios and song recitals, I have a in depth and far reaching knowledge of the classical vocal repertoire and a good command of the musical theatre repertoire. Whether you are using it professionally or for fun, I am a strong believer that establishing excellent technique is essential to developing a voice. I work from the premise that no two voices are the same and I tailor lessons to suit my students. We will work on technique, repertoire, interpretation and, where appropriate, language skills. Together, we can work on building a healthy voice and compiling a book of repertoire to help you prepare for exams or recitals. The aim of a lesson is to achieve vocal freedom, which will allow the student to approach repertoire healthily and confidently without fear of the voice giving out. Whatever age, skill level or intention for using the voice, this will ultimately make singing more enjoyable! I have experience coaching choirs and working with young people, particularly with Cambiata North West. I have given masterclasses and singing days, most recently at Saffron Walden County High School. If you would like to organise a lesson, please do not hesitate to contact me via the details on the 'Contact' tab. During the COVID - 19 lock down and social distancing period, I will be teaching remotely via Skype and Zoom. As well as singing tuition, I am also happy to tutor music theory and academic music programmes up to and including A-Level Music. For young people, the aspects of performance and study go hand in hand and I believe it is important to offer support in all aspects of music!
