The aim of the course is to improve each student's level, based primarily on classical music ranging from Baroque to modern styles. These styles will, of course, be supported by the improvement of technique and expressiveness.
I am a person who takes the student's wishes into account, so I will do my best to meet everyone's musical needs. In addition, in addition to French, the course can also be taught in Romanian, Portuguese, and English.

About Me
I started studying the flute at the age of 9, which means I have 15 years of experience playing the flute. I also started teaching this instrument 3 years ago.
Having lived abroad (in Romania - my native country, Portugal, Poland and Belgium), I received a very rich musical education.
The musical practice undertaken in each country has provided me with a variety of techniques for playing the transverse flute.
Education
- National University of Music of Bucharest (Bachelor's degree)
- Frédéric Chopin University of Music, Warsaw (Erasmus scholarship)
- Royal Conservatory of Brussels (Bachelor's and Master's degrees)
Experience / Qualifications
Over the past few years, I have gained experience by being invited to play in professional orchestras in Romania and recently I have started to be invited to play in the National Orchestra of Belgium.
Also, an important milestone that I finally reached in my career was winning the competition for academician at the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liège.

Matteo
Are you interested in learning or developing your flute skills? Are you a beginner or already advanced? Opening up to different repertoires and techniques? You need to integrate your flute class with strong discipline regarding rhythms and solfege? Then... what are you waiting for?

I offer lessons of flute and recorder in three languages (French, English & Italian). If you are a big fun of art noveau buildings you can come to my house in Schaerbeek. Or if you leave too far, I can come to your place.

My name is Matteo and I am an Italian flutist and musicologist, based in Brussels since 2010. I graduated in modern flute at 'B. Marcello' Conservatory in Venice and at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels with Barthold Kuijken and Frank Theuns in the Baroque flute. I hold a master degree in Philosophy and Musicology as well.

I hold a PhD degree in music performance at Cardiff University, School of Music.

From 2013 till 2015, I have been teaching at the Venice Conservatory "B. Marcello", giving yearly lectures and seminaries on the historical repertoire for the flute. Since 2021, I have been appointed music curator of Coudenberg Sound Box Fest, a music festival which aims at celebrating the Belgian music heritage and takes place every year at the beautiful archeological site of the former Royal Palace of Brussels.

I recorded for Warner Classics & Erato, and a soloist for Arcana/Outhere Music ('La solitude à deux. Solos and duets by G. P. Telemann' in 2018 and 'Affect is no Crime. New music for old instruments' in 2019).

I regularly play with leading ensembles and orchestras such as Millennium Orchestra (Leonardo Garcia Alarcon), Vox Luminis (Lionel Meunier), Les Muffatti (Peter van Heyghen), Coro & Orchestra Ghislieri (Giulio Prandi), Le Concert d'Anvers (Bart van Reyn), B.O.X. (Pieter Theuns), Silete Venti (Simone Toni), Transports publics (Thomas Baeté), Oficina Musicum (Riccardo Favero), and performs on the main stages and festivals such as: Festival Oude Muziek in Utrecht, De Singel in Antwerp, Bozar in Brussels, Festival de Sablé, Festival des Abbeyes en Lorraine Ravenna Festival, Grandezze e Meraviglie in Modena, Venetian Centre for Baroque Music in Venice, Spazio & Musica at Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, Festival Accademia Bizantina, Coudenberg in Brussels, Teatro dell'Arte di Milan, Teatro Della Pergola in Florence, Ars in Cathedrali in Brussels, Musée Jacquemart-André in Paris, and many others.

Nozomi
The shinobue is a flute that is used in street music but also in more sophisticated artistic performances. Japanese music has developed its own conception of beauty. Learning this music is a way to enter Japanese culture!

Traditionally, Japanese music is learned orally through shoga (a song using onomatopoeia). During the course, you also experience this method and will learn several types of music.

Course:
From 1 to 3 lessons per month / 1 lesson only and possible too
*I help you find and buy the instrument

Some testimonies
A few years ago, I was looking for a shinobue teacher on the Internet because I wanted to join the dance and music group of the Kagura Autumn Festival (in Japan)
I found Nozomi Kanda's page and videos. I was pleasantly surprised that she played Western classical music, contemporary music and also Japanese music. With Nozomi's knowledge of Western and Japanese music culture, it is always very inspiring for me to learn from her. Eventually, I might become a member of the Kagura band and I hope to be able to play contemporary music too in the near future. By studying shinobue, I can deepen my knowledge, insight and experience of traditional Japanese crafts and arts. Nozomi, thank you very much. (Japanese paper craftsman / Shikoku - Japan / Online course)
---
I started the shinobue class 9 months ago. After several lessons, I mastered the basic techniques under Nozomi's patient teaching. I started playing several scores with the other students. Together we participated in an end of year show. I am very happy to have the opportunity to share the delicate sound of shinobue with others. In the future, I would like to always be able to take my flute on vacation. I'm going to become a nomadic flautist! :) (Employee / Paris - France)
