We will explore the most important pieces of the Flute repertoire.
After years of experience and a degree in teaching musical instrument, I can help you for your exams and auditions with a personalized method and appropriate strategies.
Particular attention will be dedicated to the sound production and the different aspects of the instrumental technique, without overlooking the expressiveness of the Music for a very professional way of playing!

For beginners: prior knowledge is not necessarily required... We can start from zero both in Flute and in Music Theory!

I am a very patient and sweet teacher, I like to work with interested and eager to learn people. I am able to lead the students up to positive results gradually through little technical exercises and examples, as well as through the listening.
When I play, I like meticulousness and I desire to be as faithful as possible to the musical text, certainly trying to bring out its communicative function. Therefore, I would that my students learn to have this approach in studying music!

-Degree in Flute at the Conservatorio “E. R. Duni” of Matera, Italy, (2012).
-Degree and qualification in teaching musical instrument (specialization: Flute) at the Conservatorio "G. da Venosa" of Potenza, Italy, (2015).
-“Corso Triennale di Perfezionamento” at the Accademia Italiana del Flauto in Rome, Italy, with M° Antonio Amenduni (2013-2016).
-“Corso di Alto Perfezionamento - I Fiati” at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Italy, with M° Andrea Oliva (2016/17).
-Current University: Master at the “Koninklijk Conservatorium” of Brussels.

-Teacher of Flute in Secondary School (State School) in Italy from 2015 to 2018.
-Collaborations as flutist and piccolo player with many orchestras, including: Orchestra Sinfonica ICO della Provincia di Bari, Fondazione Orchestra Lucana delle Province di Matera e Potenza, Roma Tre Orchestra, Orchestra della Fondazione Petruzzelli di Bari and in the opera seasons with Orchestra ICO Tito Schipa di Lecce Onlus and Ente Concerti “Marialisa De Carolis” di Sassari.
-Member of the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale dei Conservatori Italiani (2015).
-Position of Second Flute and Piccolo of the “Orchestra ICO della Magna Grecia” of Taranto, Italy, from February 2015 to August 2018.
-Chamber music activity in the formations flute and piano, two flutes and piano, wind quintet.
-First Absolute Prizes and Scholarships in national and international competitions and Second Prize in the prestigious “Emanuele Krakamp” Flute Competition in Benevento, Italy.
-Soloist in Saverio Mercadante Flute Concert in E minor accompanied by Chamber Orchestra (conductor: M°Peter-Lukas Graf) and accompanied by Orchestra ICO della Magna Grecia di Taranto (conductor: M°Giuseppe Salatino); Carl Reinecke Flute Concert Op.283 in D major accompanied by Philharmonic “Ion Dumitrescu” (Râmnicu Vâlcea, Romania, conductor: M°Florin Totan).
-Tournée with orchestras in Israel, Switzerland, Spain, Serbia, Albania, China.

Are you a beginner?? No worries: no experience is required! 😁
I can teach you the basics to produce sounds with your saxophone: position of the embouchure (teeth, tongue, lips and vocal cords' position, an element often forgotten), fingerings, use of diafragma,...
After the first two lessons spent on the mouthpiece and neck for the sound production, we will immediately start to play some super easy duos together to practice your capacity of listening, pay attention to the other, ear training as well. I normally use the book of Peter Wastall (titled Learn as you play) as support, but it is not mandatory. There are plenty of good books btw!

Are you an intermediate / advanced student?? I am sure you can still improve in all the basics, but on a different level. I'll teach you the importance of the "voicing" (technique named by the american saxophonist and pedagogue Donald Sinta) to improve your sound production and projection as well as the capacity of correcting and improving the intonation. You can learn all about phrasing and music interpretation, from tonal music until contemporary atonal compositions. And still, you can improve your playing together, practicing in duo on different aspects like tuning, balance, interpretation, performance etc.

Lessons in piano, harpsichord, and historical and modern cello, with program and repertoire, adapted to the goals and speed of each student, whether young, not so young, or adult, for a general introduction to these instruments, for preparation for high music education, as a supplementary aid for exams in music academies, or for a hobby, or for amateur group music-making, or for developing qualities as concentration, coordination, discipline, expressibility, awareness of styles and music history.
In my teaching, I rely mostly on old traditional methods, books, and repertoire, which have proved their efficiency over the time. I also make use of the teaching tradition of partimenti of the old Neapolitan conservatories - exercises for composing that can be applied from early stage. This not only adds a creative element soon after very beginning, but also teaches via practice the basics of harmony and polyphony.
Lessons can be combined (+30min.) with theory/solfege (ear training), if the student wishes.

I have been teaching for more than 15 years, privately, in Brussels, and in New York in the past, more than 100 students.

Concernant le contenu du cours je le module en fonction de vos attentes et objectifs.

Je lie systématiquement le travail concret de l'instrument ( Classique, Variété ou Jazz ) avec un apprentissage minimal des éléments de base de la pratique musicale en général : théorie de la musique, formation de l'oreille intérieure, développement de la sensibilité harmonique, mélodique et rythmique, solfège etc... Je peux volontiers aborder tout cela plus profondément à la demande de l'élève, c'est passionnant aussi vous verrez !

La première rencontre sera l'occasion de discuter de tout cela, afin de mettre en place un cadre adopté à votre profil (Jeune enfant débutant, adolescent confirmé, adulte en reprise ou autres...)

Je considère que l'essentiel est de trouver un bon équilibre entre les exigences de rigueur inévitables pour progresser dans l'apprentissage du piano et le plaisir immédiat de jouer de la musique, qu'on est en droit d'attendre d'un si bel instrument !

My name is Federico and I am a professional and Award Winning saxophone player.
I worked at Koninklijk Conservatorium of Bruxelles as an Assistant Professor of Jeroen Van Herzeele the jazz saxophone professor.
I graduated at Conservatorio G.Martucci of Salerno (Italy) and had both Bachelor and Master with full marks with honors. During the course of my studies i also spent two academic years abroad , one at the Kask and Conservatorium of Ghent with the supervision of Bart Defoort and one at the Koninklijk Conservatorium of Bruxelles with John Ruocco.
In 2017 i won the "Massimo Urbani International Jazz Competition" prize that saw as head of the jury Kurt Rosenwinkel & Fabrizio Bosso.
I play in several Jazz bands and I have been performing all around Europe.
I recorded a solo album called "Right Now" with the famous Italian label "Philology Records" & the album"Supernova" with my own band. I also recorded several albums with different bands and of many styles, from jazz, funk to pop.
I toured with the famous Italian Drummer Tullio De Piscopo (Pino Daniele, Mina, Astor Piazzolla's drummer) and also had the chance to make a variety of television appearances on Italian National Television (Rai1, Rai5, Rai3).

I am a professional drummer, composer, and performer based in Brussels, with an active career in jazz, improvised, and creative music across Europe.

Whether your background is rock, pop, world, indie, or anything else, we focus on what serves your music, and on what learning this instrument can become.
