My name is Oriol, and I am a professional pianist passionate about music and its ability to connect people. For years, I have combined my work as a concert pianist with solo projects, chamber music, and collaborations with singers and choirs. I also greatly enjoy teaching, helping students of all ages and levels explore their potential at the piano and discover the joy of making music.

Currently, I am based in Bern, Switzerland, where I continue to develop my artistic career while sharing my passion for music with new students and collaborators. If you're looking for a personalized and inspiring musical experience, I’d be delighted to work with you!

Education

Graduated from the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu with a Master’s in Piano Performance. I also studied harpsichord for three years and specialized in classical music, focusing on accompaniment, chamber music, and pedagogy.

With over 15 years of experience, I have worked as a collaborative pianist with singers, choirs, and instrumentalists on projects including lied, opera, and chamber music. I have also taught piano to students of all ages, helping them prepare for auditions and conservatory entrance exams.

Music theory, an essential subject to deeply understand music.
As I am Hungarian, I studied the Kodály method. It is a rather special method which is characterized by a lot of singing, creativity and rhythmic games, which was invented for the education of the people, not for the musical elite. Its effectiveness is proven by many musicians who have grown up in this extraordinary system.
During the lessons we would do several types of exercises:
- listening exercises
- writing exercises
- sing songs, melodies, chords, intervals...
(I am flexible regarding this subject, the student can advise activities/subjects (ex: history of music...))

The goal:
- find the connection between musicality-instrument-theory
- improve ear (absolute/relative), sight-reading, musicality, theoretical knowledge

My focus is on the styles of rock/pop/jazz and improvisation. I would also be happy to delve into music theory and show you the basics (and beyond...) of harmony.

If you're not a grader, it doesn't matter! My first piano lessons were very note based and almost ruined my playing! I'm a firm believer that playing songs by ear from the start helps us absorb songs faster. Je suis actuellement étudiant à la Haute école des arts de Berne (HKB), où je poursuis un Master en Composition musicale, Creative Practice (électronique et instrumentale).
Auparavant, j’ai obtenu mon Bachelor ainsi que mon premier Master à la Haute école de musique de Genève (HEM), où j’ai eu la chance d’étudier auprès de Michael Jarrell, Luis Naón et Gilbert Nouno.

Mes cours s’articulent autour de trois grands axes :
• 🎼 Théorie musicale (solfège) :
Selon vos besoins, nous travaillerons la lecture rythmique, mélodique et interprétative d’une partition, ou bien une approche plus analytique de l’harmonie et de la structure musicale.
• 🎹 Composition musicale :
Nous aborderons à la fois les aspects esthétiques et analytiques de la musique contemporaine et les aspects techniques, tels que la notation, l’orchestration et l’utilisation des outils numériques (notamment Sibelius).
• 💻 Informatique musicale (MAO) :
En fonction de vos intérêts, nous explorerons divers logiciels, plugins et outils, parmi lesquels :
• Reaper : enregistrement, montage, mixage et traitement du son.
• Ableton Live : synthèse sonore, traitement en temps réel, contrôle MIDI et Max for Live.

Mes cours s’adressent aussi bien aux enfants qu’aux adultes, débutants ou avancés, et s’adaptent aux besoins et objectifs personnels de chaque élève.
Je peux également vous accompagner dans la préparation aux examens d’entrée d’écoles de musique professionnelles (en Suisse ou à l’étranger), en vous aidant à développer une solide base musicale et une approche créative et rigoureuse.
