Support in exact subjects at every level of education (also for deepening out of interest) by a Ph. D in astrophysics.
Creating a good foundation for the exact courses is useful for everyone. It is especially essential that the teacher is skilled and didactic in building the knowledge. I myself experienced that this was missing when I transferred from MBO level 2 to a Ph.D in physics at the University of Amsterdam.
I would like to make a difference and send you on your way with a dose of self-confidence to the wonderful world of mathematics, physics and astronomy. For all secondary school levels and higher education, I can guide you with a plan to increase your knowledge and get the best out of yourself for both tests, exams and exams and deepening out of interest.

About Me
Hello,I’m Rico. I entered MBO level 2 (lowest Dutch education level) without qualifications and worked my way up to a bachelor’s and master’s in physics and astronomy at the University of Amsterdam. I recently completed my PhD there in December 2023. I live with my girlfriend and two dogs in IJburg, Amsterdam, where we enjoy our time. I understand the challenges of learning, especially when the material is poorly explained. With 15 years of experience, I’m here to help you achieve your goals, providing tutoring for high school students and guiding bachelor’s and master’s projects in physics at the University of Amsterdam.
Education
MBO ICT employee, MBO level 4 marketing and communication, HBO International Business and Management Studies propaedeutics, Bachelor's and Master's in physics and astronomy, and a Ph.D. in astrophysics.Experience / Qualifications
I specialize in physics and astronomy, sustainable energy, mathematics, and programming, particularly in:- Calculus
- Python
- Classical mechanics and relativity
- Electromagnetism
- (Linear) algebra
- Quantum mechanics
- Atomic physics
- General astrophysics
- Multivariable analysis
- Vibrations, waves, and optics
- Black holes and compact stars
- Differential calculus
- Hydrodynamics
- C++, Fortran, LaTeX, etc.
- Bachelor's and master's thesis guidance
- Offering tutoring and education.
Like no other, I know how difficult it can be to structure a research or project in a short time. You want to distinguish main issues from side issues and be in the final report to-the-point in communicating the results.
From MBO level 2 I went on to a doctorate in astrophysics at the University of Amsterdam. During this path, I have written hundreds of reports, published 6 scientific articles and presented my findings hundreds of times both informally and formally.
In addition, I have been a successful thesis supervisor of 3 bachelor students and 1 master's student.
I would like to help you get the best out of yourself with the help of my knowledge and experience. However, I do not want to do this with a leadership mentality, but from an advisory mentality in which we can put together as equals a nice end product that we both support. I can offer concrete support for your research/project in:
- Setup and planning
- Doing literature study
- Quality assurance
- Presentation and structure/content
- Popularizing the topics with catchy texts
- Review with a critical look
- Give layout and design input
- And much more
Do you think I can help you or do you want to know more? I would love to hear from you!

Cambridge University Maths and Physics Tutor for IB, High School and University Students | 8+ Years of Experience
-- Tutor For High School / IB and University Students --
I am a Maths and Physics Tutor with over 8 years of experience tutoring teenagers, students and young adults. After having received a bachelor in Aerospace Engineering and Philosophy & Mathematics, I am now doing research at the University of Cambridge in the field of AI. Because of this, I am only able to give online classes.
My teaching is based on a principles of compassion, understanding and personalisation. I believe that every student is different and that for every student a tailor-made approach is required to create the perfect lesson. After all, each of us retains information in a different way. For some, visual learning is crucial, while for others simply talking through the problem can be enough. That is why I use my five years of experience in tutoring to gauge what the student exactly needs and how the student can fully understand the problem. Not only does the student become better at the subject they're being tutored, but they also become a better problem solver in general. A skill which they can apply throughout their entire life.
My students will learn quickly Math, physics, french, arabic
I am said ,physics teacher in high school, and I am preparing my doctorat in physics,my goal is to make students level improved.

Tutoring Maths / Physics / English online or in the Amsterdam / Den Helder area
Hi! My name is Lex. I have been tutoring mathematics and physics for secondary school in Den Helder for 3.5 years. Since this year I am now a bachelor's student in mathematics at the University of Amsterdam, and I am looking for a few new students to guide for tutoring.
A few points that really set me apart from the rest are:
- my tutoring experience, I have been giving 3.5 years of tutoring experience at many different levels
- I work a lot less formally, this mainly ensures that the student is not afraid to ask questions or will feel "stupid"
- I am very flexible with the times
- I can explain everything in many different ways
- the student can always send a WhatsApp message if something doesn't work out, and I will help him with that
Online tutoring is certainly possible, and I also ensure that all notes that I make are forwarded so that they can be reviewed later.
The best I recommend is a block of 2 hours in a row for tutoring, hereby I am sure that I can sufficiently help the student.
Maths, Physics, Science, Report Writing from Junior to University Level
I offer personalised tutoring to people of all ages, mainly grade schoolers, high schoolers as well as university students. As my undergraduate studies I did Electrical Engineering and Electronics at the University of Edinburgh, which I finished with 1st class honours. Therefore, I am comfortable with teaching Maths, Physics as well as other Natural Sciences necessary for A-levels or IB. Everyone can learn, but we all have different ways of learning and that's what makes us unique. Feeling lost is a natural state, which is necessary for growth. I can as well help with the application process for the UK universities. I live in Amsterdam and can teach at student's home.

* For these more advanced disciplines, I request that you send me the content that I will be helping you with prior to our meeting because these are very broad disciplines and I want to ensure that my university covered the specific content so that I can provide the highest quality of education! I would also like an opportunity to brush up on these more advanced topics before our meeting so I can be of maximal help.
My teaching method is walking through each individual problem with a student and asking them first how they believe they should approach the problem. I try to guide students to the answer rather than give it to them directly. I often make analogies when I teach, for example if I am tutoring calculus 3, I make parallels to content they have already mastered in calculus 1. I also try to model the problem, especially with three dimensional problems.
Experience: I received a bachelor's in Physics from Northern Arizona University in 2019. I have 1.5+ years experience of tutoring calculus 3 through my university. I have taught upwards of fifty students, and have been told that I helped them achieve a better grade.

I understand that not all teachers excel in teaching Engineering and Mathematics courses and explaining their importance to students. Courses with strong mathematical backgrounds may become boring for students who lack a solid mathematical basis. To address this, I take a student-centered approach, starting from the basics to actively engage all students, including those with weaker mathematical backgrounds. I also provide practical examples to demonstrate the real-world significance of what they are learning, inspiring and fostering their interest in the subject matter.
If you have any additional questions before starting a class, please feel free to ask me. I am here to assist! :)

Tutoring in physics and mathematics, primary to university level
During a regular school curriculum, the material to be assimilated can be considerable, so much so that many concepts are only understood superficially, just enough to pass an exam. In my opinion, it is essential to establish a solid foundation before building new knowledge. The course is therefore structured as follows:
- Review of relevant physical and mathematical concepts prior to the course.
- Course overview: We identify the key concepts, what is well understood and less well understood by the student, in which case misunderstandings are addressed.
- Practice: We put new concepts into practice through a series of exercises aimed at anchoring the learning.
- Summary: I like to conclude each session with a discussion where the roles are reversed: the student explains the concepts covered in their own words. It is often by trying to teach in turn that we highlight our misunderstandings — and really consolidate our knowledge! "If you cannot explain something simply, it is because you have not understood it well." - Albert Einstein - Written record: I give lessons via videoconference, with a tablet and stylus as a visual aid. Notes are taken on Notability and are shared at the end of the session.
